So beautiful, historical location. The Abu Al-Futuh Gate, part of Cairo's ancient city walls, is a portal to history. Standing since the 11th century, it's a marvel of Islamic architecture. Adorned with intricate carvings, the gate reflects the cultural richness of its era. Passing through, one is transported to a time when Cairo was a hub of knowledge and power. The gate's endurance through centuries is a testament to the city's resilience. As sunlight filters through its arches, it whispers tales of conquests and civilizations. Abu Al-Futuh Gate is not merely a structure; it's a living artifact connecting the present to the grand tapestry of Cairo's past.

Gate built by Al badru al jamali in the time of imam mustansir billah. It is considered as an invincible gate. The design of the gate is such that while it is open, it seems you are welcomed open armed and while closed, it instill the fear in enemy. It stands tall till date.

Very beautiful place. Architectural history dating back to the 10th century with mix of various eras constructions in each building made it an invaluable visit. It might not be a must see place if one is not interested in architecture or Islamic period of Egyptian history i-e Fatimids, Ayuubids, and Mamluks.

One of the beautiful historical mosque. Very clean and maintained well. Old Egypt city was covered by the wall which is still there. Keep a bag for your shoe storage to carry with you or give some sadaqa money to shoe keeper. I would strongly advise you to have guide to learn more about history to make your visit more beneficial.

Very beautiful gate from the Fatimid Era in Islamic Cairo, the gate is in great shape compared to its age and it’s the start to the Al Moez Street and the other attractions to Islamic Cairo, but be careful it’s extremely busy in Eid times right now.
