El Ataba is a MASSIVE market and where the locals shop. I just love it there. Wide variety of goods with good quality and cheap prices. It is highly crowded though. If you go there just please take care of your belongings. If you are looking for the bazaar feel and the small bargain chats it is perfect. But do keep in mind that you are going to get overcharged on small purchases. Basically everything you would need , you will find it there with a multi shops for the same products and reasonable prices for a huge varsity of products so take a day off and go early to have enough time to check the stores.

El Ataba is a MASSIVE market and where the locals shop. Don't expect to see other tourists here. I was first overwhelmed by the noise, chaos and shouting (all tourism markets are harmless compared to that) and then asked around, was directed to and then spent hours in the fabric section (Tarpea area, El ashar Street) scouting approximately 200+ stands/stores for the right yellow fabric I wanted for my tailor made suits.

If you aren't into exploring AUTHENTIC Egypt, go to the Khan el-Khalili market which is the super touristy market housed in a beautiful and historic part of town if you're looking for that vibe.

My highlight was meeting fabric trader Shorouktex. He had no business with me (only doing whole rolls, not by the meter) but invited me to join dinner with staff and family even registered his Instagram account just to stay in contact after meeting me...

Every category of goods is sold in different streets, alleys and buildings you need to ask around as there's no directory or other way to know. I'm sure I've only seen 15% of El Ataba in the 5 hours I spent here!

Good place to get electrical devices and lamps. very good prices BUT you need to be careful as sellers have tons of tricks to get you.

Basically everything you would need , you will find it there with a multi shops for the same products and reasonable prices for a huge varsity of products so take a day off and go early to have enough time to check the stores and find what you want , they barely bargain or reduce the price but its different from a shop to another so take your time and enjoy your shopping

Really busy area, Can find almost anything you may want here, from diy, mobile phones, clothes, cloth, curtains and shoes, to furniture and computer, household goods repairs, are some of the products sold here. Prices vary and can be cheaper than anywhere else. Quality also varies between one seller and another. Bartering is also accepted. Parking in the vicinity is difficult. However there are a couple of garages for parking, which are my recommended parking option, to avoid towing away or at least a ticket.

Had a blast bargaining for things! Everything is reasonably priced. And its a bazaar so there is so much to see and do. It was a cool experience and I will return again.

Loved the place. You can get everything here with too reasonable price. Traffic jam is a problem. Metro can be use to visit this place and surrounding markets.

Ataba is the largest market area I've ever been in my entire life. It's the busiest and operates 24/7. But be aware of the overcrowding, suffocating traffic, noises and never put valuables at the reach of passers-by (you know what I mean)

It's a labyrinth of markets and stores for all your basic needs and more. You need to know how to haggle down there though, that's where you can find some good bargains.

This one of the most important markets in Cairo if not in whole Egypt. In this area you will find the main post office of egypt as well as the main telephone central organization. Also, you will be able to go to the historical Mohammad Ali street, the famous Abdel Aziz street for consumer home appliances, the electric accessories market and of course a lot of garments, clothes shops for different standards as well as many other trades. It is a place to be visited for sure.
