A surreal place and a Devine experience.

Do not have any words to describe on how beautiful this amazing architectural marvel is it.

The place is very well restored in its original form similar to how it was when it was originally made by Imam Al Hakim.

A must visit place to see the beauty in Cairo.

Awesome place to walk around, eat or shopping as a local. Prices are great, nobody is pushing you to buy or get your money. Safe area. Every corner is a historical landmark

El Hakim b'amrellah mosque is a very exquisite place for pedestrian tours by day or night. However it's so difficult to find a parking place in any possible way if trying to get there with a your cars.

My honest opinion, if you would want to plan to visit with friends, you should all go either in one car or collectively all of you get there in one Uber or taxi or even a bus to contribute in lowering traffic in such crowded place.

Al Hakim be Amr Allah mosque is unique in its design and architecture. Located right before al fetouh gate. Spacious. It is open all day till night. Closes immediately after Al Isha prayer. Al Hakim himself one of the most controversial kalifs in the history of Egypt. With his notorious laws and legislations. And even his death remains a mystery

Visited this most beautiful mosque yesterday during noon time, when it was almost empty.

It’s really worth a visit 💛!

The Mosque of al-Hakim (Arabic: مسجد الحاكم بأمر الله, romanized: Masjid al-Ḥākim bi Amr Allāh), nicknamed al-Anwar (Arabic: الانور, lit. 'the Illuminated'), is a historic mosque in Cairo, Egypt. It is named after Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah (985–1021), the sixth Fatimid caliph and 16th Ismaili Imam. Construction of the mosque was originally started by Caliph al-'Aziz, the son of al-Mu'izz and the father of al Hakim, in 990 AD. It was completed in 1013 by al-Hakim, which is why it is named after him.

This is heritage Mosque of Imam. It has been Renovated by Dawoodi Bohra Sultan of hind. Its a most important part of Islamic history and culture what ever we write about this place will be very less. Just visit to know more about the fatemi cultural design. Its closed due to the current situation but it opens only at the time of prayers.

The mosque is highly regarded for its authentic architecture, design & landscape. A nice place for photography enthusiasts. A good place for prayers; the praying area is huge, the carpets are a bit dusty, but otherwise comfortable enough. The ablution areas & toilets are quite far but well-maintained.

It's a must visit mosque in Cairo. The grandness and divinity one experiences being there cannot be expressed by words. This mosque was restored with vision and efforts of Dawoodi Bohra community leader Dr Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin and was inaugurated in 1981. Today this mosque is a place to experience the peace of mind one feels glorious and proud knowing the history and challenges faced and how it were overcome during restoration. I feel blessed and lucky to have visited Jame Al Anwar!

Beautiful, peaceful, magnificent. Step inside from the hustle and bustle of the street/market and it's like being transported to another world.

Nestled in the heart of Cairo, the Al-Hakim Mosque stands as a testament to the city’s rich tapestry of history. Its walls whisper tales from 990 CE, when Caliph Al-Aziz laid its first stones, envisioning a sanctuary that would outshine the stars. By 1013, his son, Al-Hakim, saw this vision completed, gifting Cairo with a monument that would endure the ages.
As I meander through its expansive courtyard, the echoes of the past follow me. The mosque, once a beacon of the Fatimid era, has seen centuries unfold. Its minarets, soaring towards the heavens, were once concealed by square bastions, a mystery that still puzzles historians.
The mosque’s journey through time is as captivating as its architecture. It has been a silent sentinel, witnessing the city’s transformations, serving variously as a prison, a stable, a warehouse, and even a school. Yet, it stands resilient, its prayer hall still inviting the faithful to ponder the divine.
The restoration efforts in the 20th century by the Dawoodi Bohras breathed new life into its structure, allowing it to reclaim its place as a spiritual haven. Today, Al-Hakim Mosque is not just a relic, it’s a vibrant chapter in Cairo’s living history, a place where the past and present converge in the heart of Islamic Cairo.

So pristine and we'll cared for, for years and years. It is a colorful place in an area that has a lot of muted creams browns. Quiet place for contemplation. The inside is deceptively large. Two pools for cleansing, which is a requirement before prayer. Women and men are separated by partions, and of course, women must cover their heads, and all have to remove their shoes.
It is free to enter.
