One of the most beautiful mosques in Cairo. It's not crowded. It's super clean and there's a huge space for so many people. There's someone to guard footwear instead of leaving them outside to be stolen. You can pray there unlike some mosques in Al-Moez street. It's very close to civilization museum, Al-Fustat market for handmade crafts and churches of old Cairo. It's 10 minutes walk from Mare Georges metro station.

A profoundly spiritual sanctuary, this place radiates a newfound brilliance following a thoughtful and transformative renovation. The sacred ambiance now intertwines with rejuvenated elements, creating a space that not only honors its spiritual significance but also captivates with renewed splendor and sacred energy.

Beautiful mosque with historical significance as one of the first mosques in Cairo. Then later adapted into the Fatimid empire as a significant mosque for Friday prayers

The oldest standing mosque in both Egypt and Africa is that of 'Amr ibn al-'As. One of the first companions of the Prophet Muhammad was General Amr ibn al-As. He established Egypt's first Islamic capital, Fustat, which is now a part of Cairo, after capturing it in 20 AH/640 AD. He also established the 'Amr ibn al-'As mosque, which served as the first structure in the new city, on the Caliph 'Umar ibn al-decree Khattab's a year later.

The mosque functioned as a meeting place for the Muslim people and 'Amr's forces during the early years after the conquest, when they were still a minority in Egypt. Al-Zubayr ibn al-'Awam and other companions of the Prophet helped to construct the structure.

The oldest mosque in Egypt and Africa; and certainly a beautiful establishment. Its history makes way for a lot to learn, especially if you’re lucky enough to have a qualified guide with you. It has huge prayer rooms, separated by wooden walls for men and women; and a large open space.

This is a historical Masjid as it was reported as the first Masjid to be built in Egypt, and in a broader scale, in the whole Africa!
The MAsjid was built near the tent of Sayyidinah Amr ibn al-As and it was declared as the center of the city, known as, Misr Al Fustat.
It has been reported to be built in 641 AD.
After that the Masjid has gone through a lot of reconstructions and renovations but it still remains as a major historical and architectural site in Cairo.

The oldest mosque in Egypt and Africa, it has rehabilitated and expanded many times through ages, there you can notice the relation between the architecture of the Egyptian churches and the architecture of the avant-garde mosques in Egypt, I suggest not to skip this mosque if you want to live the story of Cairo.

The mosque is highly regarded for its historical value, as the oldest mosque in Cairo. A good mosque for prayers, especially for taraweeh in Ramadan. The praying area is huge & comfortable, although the carpets might be a bit dusty. The toilets & ablution area are maintained, but need better attention.

Alhamdulillah... Just love it.
Amr Ibn Al Aas Mosque is the very first mosque of Africa. It is built by Hazrat Amr Ibn Al Aas, during the Khilafat of Amirul Mu'mineen Hazrat Umar (R). The architectural design is awesome and amazing. The high roof ensures the ventilation to air and light. The materials is used mostly wood. The esists a well for pure drinking water. Now you will get pure drinking water (cold and normal) facility inside the mosque.
Alhamdulillah
