A mid-size museum with a large collection of Egyptian and Islamic artwork and cultural artifacts from throughout the countries history. I especially enjoyed the textiles, rugs, and tile works. I also love the architecture of the building, both inside and out!

It was really nice to see large groups of students studying and drawing inside the museum while I visited on Sunday.

Take a break from mummies and Pharaohs and see this lovely Museum of Islamic Art; they have hundreds of beautiful pieces, displayed excellently in an organised manner. The museum is clean, not too busy and the staff were helpful. There's the option of a guided tour or just to explore yourself, there's lots of information on each piece and on the general history of the time, in both Arabic and English. The building is old and beautiful, and they have a courtyard to sit outside in, do not touch the cats though, they have come in from outside carry fleas. The gift shop wasn't open when I was there, there is no cafe as far as I can see. There are reasonable toilets, relatively clean, toilet paper available, however nothing to dry your hands with. There was no wait to get in on Saturday and the price was 270LE for a foreigner. I spent approximately 2 hours there and went round at a leisurely pace. I definitely recommend.

It was a great experience and it was worth the visit. The variety of islamic art and monuments was a lot and valuable of its meaning. I had a person showing me around the museum explaining to me each part of the museum and the pieces in it.

Very interesting museum, overall a very well written text, chronological anf full of interesting information.
They’ve selected few artifacts but the most representative of each described period.

Nice manageable sized museum of beautiful things. Shows the tragic decline of creative thinking and the arts in Islamic culture. Everything was brilliant, poetic, and beautiful once. Maybe Islam will drive out the religious idealogues and rise again.

Beautiful museum displaying artifacts from different Islamic dynasties like Ottomans, Mamluks, Fatimids etc. Worth a visit, it's a small museum but all these era artifacts are well segregated.

Largest museum for the Islamic antiquities in the world with 25 show rooms.
The museum is clean, renowned, and well organized.
You can go there by underground metro and arrive at Mohamed Nagib station where you will walk 10 min to the museum.

Surprised that such a wonderful building and collection does not have many visitors. It is very well organised and looked after. Very clean throughout with air conditioning,Highly recommend! The shadows from the windows of the museum is another layer of art itself!

The Museum of Islamic Art is an architectural gem, a sanctuary of peace and beauty. Its vast collection, from intricate calligraphy to ornate textiles, reflects the rich diversity and profound history of Islamic culture. The museum’s design, with its geometric patterns and natural light, complements the artistry within, making every visit a truly enchanting experience. 🕌✨

With its remarkable collection of rare woodwork and plaster artifacts, as well as metal, ceramic, glass, crystal, and textile objects from all over the Islamic world, the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) in Cairo, Egypt, is regarded as one of the greatest museums in the world.

In 25 Halls, the museum has recently displayed roughly 4,500 artifacts, although it actually holds more than 100,000 items, with the remaining being stored. Rare Qur'anic manuscripts with some writing in silver ink and pages with ornate borders are included in the collection.

One of the best museum in Cairo. It offers a vast range of different treasures of Islamic Art. It is air conditioned and well executed. The only downside was the lack of English translations to some of the texts.

Here we have an extensive presentation of Islamic motifs in work, ceramics, textiles, carpets and calligraphy from the ancient Islamic world with samples from the Indian subcontinent, Persia and the Middle East.

I don’t think mainstream tourism has picked up on this incredible gallery as there was barely anyone there despite the amazing collection on display. We wandered for just over an hour admiring the beautiful Islamic art and architecture that’s on exhibit
