I came here with my kids who are in their early 20’s. We had a blast! However, what makes this place so special is the people and how they are intentional about making every moment special. Angel’s happy spirit made sure every single thing was to perfection. He was always smiling and made the energy beautiful every moment. Lisa, I can’t even say enough about her beautiful spirit, her contagious laugh and how even on her day off she took us on a hike and made sure we saw the sacred beauty of the DR in the unknown places. Ricky, he is such a beautiful, kind soul who loved on my adult kids and made sure they had fun New Years Eve. He smiled every single moment; he made beautiful drinks, he bought us all a toast on NYE- his heart and smile shown so bright and made our trip! Alex, we love him-one of the bar tenders, was AMAZING. These people made our visit so memorable. Congrats on hiring the most wonderful staff- from the beautiful women who cooked for us to the people who carried our luggage. They are the reason I will recommend DRTHV. ❤

This place was absolutely amazing. From the staff to the volunteers to the other guests. The experience was nothing like I’d ever experienced. This wasn’t just a place we visited, this vacation was like staying with family. And that’s how everyone was treated, like family. It was so nice to unplug and connect with my friends on this trip. The resort was beautiful and everyone we came in contact with was amazing. Ricky, Lisa, Alex, Mikey, Michael, Kenzie, Blake, Olympia, Ranger thank you thank you thank you for everything!

The customer service was exceptional from the beginning to end.Booking was great with Carolin. When we arrived Ricky was very helpful and the environment plus vibe was peaceful. Mikey and Lico helped carry all our bags and we were able to enjoy freely. Alex has outstanding customer service and is super fun at night with group games, dance, and entertainment. David was very nice and helped take us to the beach.

The massage a must. Food incredible, authentic Dominican cuisine.

The tree house itself is an experience which one has to live. The nighttime atmosphere at the treehouse was immersed in the soothing symphony of jungle sounds, with the vibrations of nature creating a unique, tranquil ambiance. The rustling leaves, distant animal calls, and gentle hum of insects added a magical touch to the overall experience.
Definitely a 5star stay for an eco friendly hotel.

This is the first time we've been to the DR and stayed in a treehouse resort. This place is amazing and truly somewhere you can relax and unwind. Lise, Ricky, Alex and all of the volunteers are wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay. A few tips. Make sure you bring cash with you, preferably Dominican pesos, and lots of small bills as many of the local places do not take credit cards. Also, these come in handy for tips. Highly recommend!

We couldn't ask for better; great staff, great atmosphere, great food, drinks and music to dance to. The zipline and atv/horse back excursions were so much fun. The resort made the arrangements very easy, we highly recommend DTHV for your next vacation.

If you’re seeking a unique experience immersed in nature and a global community of like-minded travelers, please stay at the treehouses. The food here exceeded all expectations (even my picky son cleaned his plate at every meal), the staff and volunteers were friendly and fun, and we made new friends from many different countries. We hope to return someday!!

Perfect place for peace. But also Had some exciting times on 4 wheelers, horses, waterfalls. We came from Florida for a family stay after wedding in Santo Domingo and all of us had a wonderful time, even kids and grand parents. I don't think the tweens missed their electronic devices one bit! Staff and Ranger the puppy were all great. I hope I will be back in the near future.

The Dominican Tree House is a hidden treasure in Samana, it’s a truly a special place. Traveling from the airport to the resort was long but the resort made it seamless for our group. We felt safe the entire time and we were welcomed by all of the staff immediately. Alex checked us in and answered all questions we had when arriving. Our excursion to Bacardi island was so special, our guide “sugar” gave us the VIP treatment. The food is fantastic, it’s very natural and healthy, it was hard not to have 2nd servings every time. It was easy for my plant- based and vegetarian friends to find alternatives given the variety. Even though there is poor cellphone signal in the area, we were easily able to get wi-fi access at Emma’s cafe. This was such a memorable trip for our group and the only regret I have is not finding this place earlier. Will definitely come back to visit again!

Long Review - Please Read

We spent a wonderful 8 days at the Dominican Tree House Village, December 30th through January 7th. We being myself, wife and two sons (17/19). We had a spectacular time and loved every minute. The accommodations were perfect as we had a family tree house which was a two hut/cabin combo - one queen bed room w/two hanging chairs with a second room with bunk beds and an additional single bed connected by a wooden bridge, and of course, a bathroom w/sink and shower. Both rooms had light fixtures, side tables, power outlets, and ceiling fans. The cabins (for lack of a better term) are open-air, meaning they do not have four walls enclosing your area, but there are ceiling to floor drapes surrounding that offer all the privacy you need.

Let me talk about the service... Lisa, Ricky, Angel, and Alex were top-notch and truly cared about your well-being and quality of stay. They were all more than willing to go above and beyond to ensure you had what you needed and enjoyed your stay. We talked with each of them each day/night. We played cards together and talked about our families and experiences. They are amazing people and I encourage you to take time to get to know them. We were welcomed by name every time we saw them. This made us feel like we were part of the village community! I feel like we left with new friends and cherish the memories we created together. I'd be remiss not to mention Michael, he has a gift shop of locally made jewelry/items onsite - he too was an amazing individual and super friendly.

Let's talk about some generalities. All the things you need to know is described on the website. I'll break down a few things:

**Learn some Spanish, no need for fluency.

**There is no hot water in your bathroom/shower. This could be jarring for some, but remember you're in the rainforest, and in a tropical climate. Note: there are warm'ish water options available in enclosed/lockable public bathrooms/showers under the bar/main hall.

**There is a list of items you should bring on the website - Bring all the items - if you don't, refrain from complaining. There is also a suggested items list - look that over and make an educated decision on what to bring/not bring. We brought some snacks and left with most of them.

***Pro Tip: I bring a camp style first-aid kit whenever we venture out. This applies to basic hiking locally in Indiana (home state). You never know when a band aid, antiseptic wipes, etc. are needed.

***Bring a refillable water bottle for each person in your group.

**Humidity is real - we packed clothes in large Ziplock style bags. Once removed and worn things stay a bit damp - not wet by any means, but damp - we knew this going into our trip and were prepared. You can hang clothes/towels out and that does a decent job for drying out a bit.

**You may experience rain, being in a rainforest, this should not be a surprise. No rain gets into your rooms even with the drapes open. The overhang from the roof provides more than enough protection. We had rain in the late evening and early morning, but cleared up late morning/early afternoon - nothing that hindered our trip - this was our experience, weather changes.

**Noise: You will hear all types of insects/animals throughout the night, again you're staying in a rainforest. The bar closes at 11p, we were never bothered by anything going on prior to close.

**There is NO Wi-Fi in the Tree House Village, EVER! This was a highlight for us, being able to truly disconnect is a rare luxury. Wi-Fi is available for $10 per device for your entire stay at Emmas only. The connection is not perfect, but if you have to connect you can.

**Snails - you will see snails on walkways, plants, possibly in your bathroom and maybe in your room. They do not bite, they aren't vicious monsters. They are SNAILS, get over it.

**Lastly (thanks for reading if you made it this far): Power may go out for a very limited time, ~5min. We experienced this a few times, it was non-disruptive and had no effect on our trip.

Just wanted to add something to my husband's very thoughtful review, no credit cards are taken anywhere, except at the Treehouse for excursions and paying for your stay. We were not prepared for this. Dominican Pesos are accepted everywhere, but it seems the preferred is US dollars. There are lots of shops and cash is only accepted. We suggest at least $100-150/person in small bills.
