Playa Las Ballenas

Love this beach! It is a more quiet beach (except on weekends, when parties tend to happen). In my opinion, to becomes prettier the further west you go, and ends in a quiet cove. It has a number of beach restaurants where you can grab a quick bite for lunch, and one of my favourite places for pizza is down near the west end (Chiringuito). It is a quieter area to rent on, and is usually our choice on Airbnb.

Best beach in Las Terrenas overall Ian’s that is saying something!) Calm, clear water, white sand, near shore shallow water reefs that are fun for snorkeling. Great for families. Has restaurants along the beach road and on the beach itself and places to rent water sports equipment. Plenty of palms for shade.

Relaxed long beach with lots of entertainment and food options. Protected by reefs so good opportunities to swim and lots of shallow spots to enjoy. Lots of shade. Great for romantic evening walks.

Find the cove area near the sailing club and it is the perfect slice of beach. Soft waves, but had some depth so you get wet. And there is a wood fired pizza place right there, El Charinguito A+

Even though this is one of the most accesible beaches in the country, it manages to keep everything in order, unlike almost all other beaches that attract noise, trash and disorder. In this beach you can also find boats, kayaks and paddle boards for rent. You can also have an excellent choice of beachside restaurants at different prices for the quality of their service. If you choose not to spend any money, it’s okay, since it is not necessary to buy anything to enjoy this area. Vendors and hustlers are at a minimum here.

This beach is generally great for snorkeling because the bay catches a lot of the waves. It can be busy driving back here but is generally a great beach to visit. I would recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks because most of the restaurants are down the coast one or two kilometers. It’s a nice Long Beach so it’s great for running or walking specifically in the evening or morning.

Went for a short trip, but it was an amazing experience. Beautiful beach, drinking coconut water under the palm trees. Friendly locals. Safe and peaceful place to enjoy. Definitely coming back.

The place is just beautiful to bad that not so long ago an huracan hit the island and some areas are in bad shape.

Its a must on the list if your are going to the Samana peninsula.

One of my favorito place to be when in las terrenas. The bar at the beach is well painted and good food.

A lot of differences between morning and afternoon. The wind and the currents are much better in the morning, at least when I was there in June.

Corals are a few mts from the beach and a lot of diversity for snorkeling.
The sun is nice and you can play with young kids.

This is a great beach with lots of Resturant and bars to choose from. Nice river here and even a shady spot to swim at the end of the beach.
