We had a wonderful time staying at Viva V Samana by Wyndham. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The friendly staff and attention to detail were above and beyond. I loved the spa room. It felt like you were on a private island. The food was excellent and there were many restaurants to choose from. We managed to do an excursion for a whale watch trip. We are planning to return to this hidden gem in our future travels. ✨

Hotel is a bit busy but the bungalows are lovely with your own private dipping pool. Food is typical all inclusive....mediocre but plentiful. And booze is weak but again plentiful. Restaurants are Ok....need reservations and service can be slow. Beaches are lovely, pool is spacious and clean. Would go back but no high expectations....

Beautiful, small resort. Service was good, rooms clean. The buffet was good. The seafood restaurant was ok, lovely setting if you are outside, very limited options for people who don't like seafood. Mediterranean restaurant - meh service was poor. DO NOT order the lobster ravioli. The international restaurant was excellent.
Always available chairs on the beach. Easy access to water sports, lots of games, and classes. The plunge pool was great for cooling off after a hot day.

Great beach with shade and sun options, entertainment was really well done and fun, drinks were excellent (wine, white and red, was very good) and activities abundant , rooms, and bathrooms were spotless. Restaurants were very good. Only complaint was everyone was allowed to smoke anywhere despite beaches being posted as non smoking. Couldn't get away from it.

Thank you everyone all very friendly and helpful specially the ladies from the medical unit they were very nice and professional made us feel so much better from me being dehydrated and very patient and helpful with my friend's leg problem all are wonderful. The attendants from the buffet and all the concierge and the guys from the excursions, very attentive and considerate when we had to cancel one excursion because of my friend's emergency. It certainly isn't perfect. However, I have found it to be miles ahead of most resorts I've stayed at in the DR at this price point so reviews seem a bit unfair. I would gladly be back!

The location is absolutely stunning. The beach is gorgeous and I have had no issue with finding a seat. The pool is beautiful and well maintained but it does get crowded and noisy for my taste. Water could be a bit cleaner too.

Rooms: small and uninspiring, budget looking, but who cares? You're not here to stay in, unless it's raining. Shower had good pressure but toiletries were cheap, never rely on them.

Food: very surprisingly great. The breakfast was good and complete, lunch was plentiful and of good quality (roasted chicken, champagne risotto, grilled meats and fish, manchego cheese etc.). One major issue I have also encountered in other resorts: cold chain management could and certainly must be improved. Ice creams were completely melted and some items were left in the heat. It's not acceptable for hygiene and food safety and I have notified staff who did remove the ice cream.

The coffee shop doubles down as bar and nightclub. Espresso is strong! Alcohol was of decent quality (Beefeaters Gin, Brugal Añejo rum, Dewars whisky) and cocktails were well made even in a rush.

Staff was pleasant throughout and there are many activities and tours available.

I had fun and I believe this is the best value resort on the island, you'll have a great time!

IMPROVE : food safety training, room cleaning product smells, more electric sockets near the bed, cushion for the lounge chairs and more towels throughout the day

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Viva V from January 12th to 19th. I really don't understand the bad reviews - I think they're mostly from people who have never gone to the Caribbean!

1. Check-in process was fast and smooth – we arrived around 9:30pm and after not even 10 minutes, were checked in. It was nice that they help bring your luggage to the room with you, especially after a long-day of travelling!
2. Room – the room was perfect as we really only need it for sleeping. We had a king-sized bed and found the room and balcony quite spacious. No issues with the shower or bathroom. Yes, the room will get humid, sheets will be damp, and towels will never dry, but welcome to the Caribbean! The fridge was always stocked well with water bottles and soda. If we needed something extra, like a face cloth, housekeeping was always happy to provide them.
3. Staff – everyone we encountered was so incredibly friendly! Special shoutout to Hector who taught us archery and how to sail a catamaran! Yes, most of the staff speak limited English, but we managed to get by. Just keep a translator app on your phone and you’ll be fine. They really do try their best to help you with any request you have and every single employee I saw always had a smile on their face. Be nice to them and they will amazing to you!
4. Beach & pool – I can’t say enough about how gorgeous this beach is. This beach has more waves than the one in Punta Cana, but it was so much fun to ride the waves on the boogie boards. It was nice that all the water sports (like kayaking, sailing, surfing, etc.) is all included. We never had a hard time finding a chair by the beach or pool, but if you want one of the special beds, then be ready to be up at 6am because they get claimed fast!
5. Food – I’m a picky eater and had no issues finding food to eat. Buffet was great – although you might get tired of it after a few days as the food tends to be the same. But I enjoyed the pasta station the most! They have 3 restaurants which we tried. We weren’t really a fan of Fusion. The food wasn’t bad per say, but the restaurant itself had a strange smell to it and some of the other patrons were extremely loud which ruined the vibe a bit, but still a good option. Mar & Fuego and MediTerrenas were both great restaurants and right near the beach. Book a late dinner at Mar & Fuego and you can dine outside practically on the beach. Beautiful and romantic vibes!
6. Miscellaneous – we really didn’t have anything to complain about, but there are just a few suggestions. There is smoking allowed practically everywhere on property and that can be annoying. When we wanted to sit near the lobby at night to play cards or watch the entertainment, it was just table and tables of smokers. It would be nice if they had designated smoking areas.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you really are in the middle of the jungle. Unless you book an excursion, there is nothing to do off-resort as you can’t really walk anywhere. If you want to checkout late, there is a $50 USD fee and that allows you to keep the room until 3pm. Since our transport was scheduled for 5:30pm, it was nice to be able to spend the morning at the beach and then go back to the room to shower.

This hotel does have a gift shop, but its quite small. Most items, like keychains, alcohol, vanilla, etc. was decently priced, but if you want a bottle of sunscreen, it’ll cost you $30+ USD! There are employees that will try to get you to join Club Viva. They say its not a timeshare, but it is (points-based membership). I get they have a job to do and memberships to sell, but I don’t appreciate how sneaky they are about it.

Overall, fantastic stay and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort!

Before arriving I read the reviews and was ready for the disappointment. Even though room did smell not very good because of humidity, and was a bit oudated we had a wonderful time! The beach, ocean and view are incredible. Entertainment team are so amazing, they kept everyone busy and entertained all the time, especially when it was raining. Food was good! Our top choice was pizza, it was delicious. And we loved cocktails (especially bahama mama😁)
Again, we didn’t spend much time in the room, as we were enjoying our vacation. There were shows and parties every night. We are completely satisfied. Definitely recommend

Beautiful resort! Important to note that the airport close to the resort doesn’t have flights from the US all year round so we had to fly in to Santo Domingo which ended up being about a 2 hour drive to the resort - the resort provides a ride you can purchase which was very straight forward.

The food at the resort was good! We found that although the restaurants (which you reserve a spot for once you get there) had pretty good food it was just as good quality to just go to the buffet instead of waiting for your food at the restaurant(s).

The room service was great, the beach was amazing, the massages were professional and relieving, the excursions available were lots of fun

We have been going to resorts every year for the last 25 years except for pandemic time... This is bu far the best resort we stayed in. Amazing beach, acacia wood furniture in the room, plenty of comfortable beach beds, international drinks made to your liking, snacks and food available throughout the day.
All you have to worry about is to get your rest and sunscreen.
Definitely recommended!

My family and I loved this resort! We had a great time all around. The staff are helpful and very kind, we loved talking to Rezzak, Smarlyn, Jose, and Gemma. They helped us with whatever we needed and we felt like we could rely on them. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable, the food is actually good and the beach is unreal. Definitely one of the nicest beaches we’ve ever been to. You can walk for miles along the shore which is surrounded by beautiful palm trees. If you don’t like big and sometimes rough waves, you won’t like swimming at this beach so that is something to consider. That being said, the water is perfect for surfing, boogie boarding and other water sports. The resort provides boards for water sports for free which is awesome. The beach is private/secluded and is not packed with people at all. It could be because of the time of year we visited (November), but the resort was not overpacked with people, however there were enough that we could still mingle and meet some new friends. It’s not like the crowds in Punta Cana but we really enjoyed that about our stay. The excursions were amazing and we had so much fun everywhere we went. Don’t really have any complaints honestly. No kids is a huge plus. The pool is nice, too. I’d come back for sure!

Great hotel with one of the most beautiful beach we have ever seen. Big plus for adults only. Very good food. Kind stuff. There is only one thing we didn’t like about the hotel - all the animation and parties took place on the main aisle instead of the theatre. That made it hard to relax or sleep in the evening.

My boyfriend and I LOVED our stay! Chocolate was super cool and Maria and Darisleidi made the best drinks ever my boyfriend only wanted to order from them since their drinks were always perfectly made! All the staff was super nice, I would come back for the location and the beach but especially for the whole staff who was super helpful and friendly 🫶🏽

I don’t know where to start.
I have been to Samana before and this place is a gem within a gem.
Brought my girlfriend for the first time to Samana and we are already looking to book again for 2 weeks at Viva Samana.
This resort gives an intimate feeling you never get at all inclusive’s. We had an amazing room 2min walk to the picturesque beach front. Even if you don’t get a room close to the beach it’s still all within a 5min walk.
ROOM: The rooms and the hotel staff really do strive to get your rooms clean and ready for you as soon as they can everyday and will change your bed sheets if you ask the maid as many times as you need. Mini bar fridge always was stocked with water and beers and a coke and 7up. Coffee was a great treat in the mornings and through out the day in the room. AC has a awesome function that will draw the moisture out of the air in the room to make it a little less humid.(don’t run all the time as it will get to dry in the room and uncomfortable)
Wifi across the resort was amazing and perfect in the room. Beds were amazingly comfortable(I’m 220 and 6’2). Bathrooms was clean to the highest standards and shower worked perfectly. WE LOVED OUR ROOM. For those of you who do not leave a courtesy thank you for the staff(I.e$2-5USD) on your pillow before leaving the room for the day everyday do not expect the same level of attention to your room. It’s about respecting the fact someone has to clean your mess everyday nothing more.

FOOD: This was the first time staying at and all inclusive where the buffet was a little smaller but the attention to the food and what they were providing blew me away. Breakfast every morning was pretty standard and always fresh from the bread to the fruits to the cheese. FRESH. Lunch was amazing with alternating options and a great treat whenever they have different things at the BBQ station. And again everything had flavour and tasted fresh and delicious. Dinner is a great treat because they do themes on different nights and I have to give the upmost respect to the kitchen staff for always being on top of the food they are serving. I’m a picky eater and they provide options that made it hard to pick because I wanted to eat everything. Again fresh and full of flavour and NO FLIES around the food or flying around. Big 10/10 for the cleanness and freshness and flavour of the food.

BEACH: I’m just going to post pictures and I hope that you see the same beauty of this beach and surrounding area. You have to be up early if your want to secure a sweet spot but it’s nice everywhere regardless. Not a trace of seaweed or stick or debris just beautiful shells to collect. 10/10 and I hope the pictures do it justice(these are unedited pictures).

THANK YOU VIVA, for the stay and I hope that those of you who do choose to stay here appreciate that if you have a problem with something do not complain to the staff but rather let them know and ask them politely to fix or correct whatever it is and believe me they will go beyond to make your stay even better.

I want to thank all the cleaning staff all the kitchen and dining staff, front lobby staff. And A BIG BIG BIG THANK YOU AND LOVE TO MY BROTHER JAUNCHY. He took care of us on the resort and even on his day off he spotted me walking in the town of las Terranes and gave me a ride on his motorbike back to the resort as it wasn’t safe walking on the main road. THANK YOU Jaunchy.

We already are looking to book or 2weeks stay for October.

The beach was has a lovely long walk, the resort is small and easy to navigate and the entertainment was excellent. The service people were very friendly and pleasant, but I would like to especially commend Wagner, the water sports supervisor.I was floundering and off balance in the high waves and he came running across the beach to lift me out of the ocean. He was not on duty as a lifeguard - he was just super alert to a possible problem. After that, he was extremely friendly and sociable. He is an excellent dancer and in the evening always asked the guests to dance and made the evening fun. My friends and I went on the catamaran ride with him and he took good care of us. Although we spoke different languages, his warmth and kindness came through. You are lucky to have someone of his caliber on staff.

I love this resort, the room was always kept clean, we stayed in a bungalow, service was fast, we called for the dir conditioning and batteries for the remote. The food was great, there's always a variety to choose from. The location is perfect, lovely beach, not much seaweed, if at all. Entertainment was great as well. I highly recommend if you want to just relax and enjoy all amenities.

I booked this Hotel back in May.
V Samana visit June 13th to June 20th – Room 6105 / B721962
I picked this Hotel because of Adult Only. My Stay was fantastic. Next time I want to stay in a Bungalow.
Gema made my transportation arrangement and both drivers were nice guys eager to tell me about the place they live. The Driver that drove me to the Hotel made a stop at an overlook. From there you could the see the Ocean and Beach below.
Making a Reservation directly with the Hotel was easy. I was able to pick 2 Spa treatments and 2 Excursions. Unfortunately, the Ziplining was cancelled and instead I did the Boat Tour. I am glad that it was cancelled. I had so much fun on this Boat. We saw a lot of cool things and learned about the History of the area. I had a great time.
The check in process was very straight forward. They explained to me where what is and to use the App to navigate the Resort. I got a nice Welcome drink. Since My room was not ready yet. I walked around to check the place out. The Lobby is a great place to hang out for a while.
The App is a very cool thing and very convenient It has all the information you need but rest assured that if need assistance Hamid and Juan can help you or any one else at the Front Desk.
With the App you can make your own Reservations at any of the Restaurants. You can plan activities etc. I had dinner at every Restaurants twice except Fusion. It’s a nice Restaurant but if I can sit outside and enjoy my Meal, I prefer to eat at Mar y Fugo and Mediterrenas. The food is very good at any of the Restaurants. The Buffet Restaurant has a great variety of food. Anything you can imagine they have. Fresh fruit, fresh great tasting pastries, a Salad bar, cold cuts, Pizza, Bread. It’s just a great place to grab a snack in the afternoon. Have coffee and some dessert. The Breakfast Buffet also has a great selection of food. Everything is fresh and great tasting. You can get Soda, Beer, Water or whatever you want enjoy at that particular moment. Everybody is every eager to make your stay worry free and as relaxing as possible. My room had a little problem with the Patio Door and the maintenance department was very responsive and fixed the problem right away.
The Shows and Parties they put on are very good and a lot of Fun. People are just having a good time. You can great Drink throughout the day. You can eat and drink as much as you want. The concept of an all-inclusive resort is great. You know exactly what you will spend for your Vacation. Tips and Taxes are included in that. If you book excursions, you know already what they cost and what is included. No surprises. However, in my opinion you should still tip from time to time. They work hard. If you stay for a week or more, you see that they work in the morning in one area and in the evening in another. A lot of the people that I will mention at the end did exactly that every day. One example is Eudy. In the mornings he works in the Buffet Restaurant and in the evening, he works at the Mediterrenas. Great guy. My Spanish is very poor. I am trying and make an effort and I am sure they appreciate. Some speak very little English. Like the Housekeepers. So although we both spoke very little of each other’s language we were still able to communicate. And let’s face it everybody has a smart phone – yes there’s a App for it 😊

Below are the names of some of the employees that I interacted with on a daily basis during my stay – these individuals made my stay very special. They took care off me and always had a smile on there face. They are a big part of why I will stay here again. Hamid, Juan, Gema, Eudy , Gleni, Misael, Francisco, Victor, Elian, Elizier, Antonio, Nayely, Henry, Cesarina, Ramon and Pedro the Driver that drove me to the Airport. And a special thanks goes to Maria who is an outtanding Massage therapist. I had two AWESOME Spa Treatments and this is one thing for sure that I look forward to during my next visit

Thanks for making my 1st visit to this Island truly memorable.

It was our first Adult only resort in DR and we weren't disappointed. Perfect location beautiful grounds always maintained and clean. It was great that we didn't need to hunt for beach towels you can just grab them near the pool and drop them to the same place. And there are always plenty of them . We stayed in bungalow highly recommended if you want privacy and quite place. The customer service is great whenever we had small issues they were addressed fast and always with the smile . The food was good always versatile. Would be great to have more musicians coming playing in the resort not only Spanish singers .
