bächle Specialty Coffee

After searching and searching for a decent specialty coffee place in Freiburg, we finally found a good one. Baechle Baristas are pretty knowledgeable, espresso-based drinks have a good balance of bold/fruity/acidity taste, and space quite intimate. Weekend brunch is highly recommended and a must try are the tomatoe brioche and shakshouka, super tasty and beautiful dishes. Coffee presentation is pretty plain (see pic) in a mug, it can be pimped by including a small wooden coaster and spoon on the side for better presentation. But here you’ll find one of the best tasting coffee blends for sure! Pastries are also yummy!

Most larger towns/small cities will have at least one cafe offering speciality coffee now, many have multiple. With beans being seasonally available it often means you'll see the same countries offered. You then have to start doing something a little different, maybe it's the design of the location or the overall concept, otherwise you just become 'another'.

The lead barista during my visit was full of passion and enthusiasm, willing to talk about all aspects of their work and made sure my coffee was spot on - all of this on a busy Saturday afternoon and while making sure all the guests were treated to the same high standard.

They offer espresso, batch brew, pour overs and cold brew along with a selection of cakes and pastries. Retail bags are available from the house roaster (Freiburg's Røststolz) and a monthly-changing guest.

No joke. Best coffee shop in town. Coffee that really tastes. Changing offer to train your taste. Ask the barista about the coffee and the recipe they use for espresso!

The best coffee I have had in the city and fresh bread! Friendly service too!!!

Overall excellent. The cappuccino, the green pesto with gf bread, the cakes, the cosy atmosphere. I find the prices a little steep, but you get what you pay for.

Great specialty coffee, Espresso and filter brewed available. Good variety with a rotating guest coffee.

Always a pleasure coming into this Café, great atmosphere to share coffee/ food with friends or to study, high quality and best staff that is always courteous.

I think this is the best specialty coffee in Freiburg. Great and cozy atmosphere. Flat white is superbly crafted.

Beautiful speciality coffee shop! The coffee selection is superb and the service is even better. Very friendly and efficient staff, Tobi was very kind and accommodating with having the batch brew ready super fast so I could get moving. Definitely a jewel in Freiburg, will come back over and over again <3

great coffee and super nice staff!! i tried one of their cinnamon rolls and loved it — it’s not sweet at all (which i think is great, but may not be for everyone), and the price is very appropriate.

Hands down the best coffee in Freiburg. Knowing that the coffee in this city in general is not that great and always espresso-based, Bächle arises as the sole big-city-like specialty coffee place here. The prices might seem a bit much at first but the quality of the coffee and the friendliness you receive from the staff is unmatched. They have an amazing batch brew and V60s if you want to take break from intense espressos of Freiburg.

Bächle is such an amazing specialty coffee shop! The coffee is great, the breakfast/brunch is fantastic and the staff does everything with the heart.

The flat white is great and don’t forget a Zimt Schnecke!

I found this cafe one of the best cafe in Germany!! I visited the cafe already two times and tried filter coffee, cappuccino, cake and sandwich. The cafe selects different coffee beans for each type of coffee. So, I enjoyed different tastes of coffee and found cappuccino especially delicious. I found the foods awesome, too. Especially, the vegetarian sandwiches are very delicious. They are worth to try, I would say. The waitress (the owner) is very kind and nice :) She is open and communicates well each customer. She explained much to me, a foreign visitor. The cafe locates on a good place in a part of old city of Freiburg and the view from the cafe is beautiful. I recommend you to visit the cafe!! Pretty interior, good specialty coffee ☕ for a reasonable price. You can choose between alternative and cow milk, the coffee menu is a little too short (was looking for some "fun drinks"), on the other hand this helps to keep their standards high. The staff were nice and didn't mind my rusty german:) tap water with coffee was for free (as it should be but quite a rarity in Germany). Definitely will come again, probs to European Coffee Trip app for the tip:)

We went here for the specialty coffee and it (espresso) was incredible. Even we went here again on the same day afterwards. Beside that, the place is cozy and neat. The people behind the cafe were very friendly. I shot many questions regarding the espresso and surprisingly the barista was very knowledgeable about their products. Since we generally want to know more about coffee, it was a very pleasing experience visiting Bächle.
