What a meal. Outside of the impeccable service, the food is upscale, but not stuffy. Nice people, great flavor. Reservations are a must.

We had the duck rilletes, duck broth, cheese dumplings, pork knuckle, and mashed potatoes.

I only wish we had any room for dessert

Fantastic historical place. You feel the history floating around. The staff was amazing, manager/owner fantastic, and food 5 stars.

We had the onion tarte tatin and pork knuckle for our mains, both were delicious and super flavoursome. The cheese with the tarte tatin was a fantastic combination. The dessert of apple pie was just as delicious either amazing pastry work and delicate poached apples. Would highly recommend.

I ordered the veal liver and it was the best I've ever eaten. I'm used to eating liver, but this was extraordinary. The chef had prepared it perfectly soft and rich. The presentation of the plate was also quite eye-catching. My server was also very helpful, when she realized I was indecisive she showed me every plate that came out of the kitchen! I really appreciated this behavior.

Tucked down a small street behind a church, this little restaurant is a must visit whist in Berlin.
Running continuously since 1621 (excluding years due to wars), it's a piece of food service history.
The service was excellent and the food good German fare in generous serves.
Loved the stuffed cabbage leave and the onion tart with cheese.
Will definitely be back again when next Berlin.

Known as the oldest restaurant in Berlin, we came for lunch without booking: luckily for us we had s spot, but I wouldn't recommend risking it without a reservation.
The place has the atmosphere of an old tavern, the owner and one waitress are running from table to table serving all guests quickly but always with a smile.
We had two signature dishes: the meatballs and a pork knuckle served with red cabbage: both super delicious, and the portions are big enough not to need much more, honestly.
A Berliner pils and a glass of red wine each, to make our lunch break complete and super enjoyable.
Final bill 70€ (35,00€ p.p.). 👍, Very tasty and highly recommended!

Took us a while to get seated BUT we didn’t make a reservation (you probably should, it seems hella popular and for good reason). Some folks ahead of us left in a rude huff, my advice is to show respect to the staff. Hostess was very busy but very with it and organized, wait staff knew all the dishes well and were both charming and helpful - kindly served us in English AND gave us some hilarious German language lessons. Pork knuckle was to die for. I’d say this is a can’t miss.

Very lucky to just walk in and get a table for two. The warm welcome and quality of service was exceptional. The food is incredible. Pike dumplings starter was divine, pearl barley risotto delicious and the stuffed cabbage was huge - in size and flavour! Beautiful wine and pear crumble topped off a great night. The best meal in four trips to Berlin.

Arrived in Berlin and happily realised we were in the neighbourhood of this classic restaurant. What better way to start a visit than a lunch of some hearty and tasty classic German dishes and a cold beer! Service was a spot on mix of efficiency and friendly chat, we felt looked after but not looked over. The dishes were all delicious, would happily have returned here but had a list of places to try in a long weekend visit. Will be back next time though!

Wonderful place to enjoy a German meal. I’m not overly familiar with traditional German food but I imagine this is it. The food was delicious, hearty, and the service very efficient but helpful and nice

If I could rate this restaurant ten stars I would. This historical restaurant absolutely hit the top of my list for food here in Berlin. The staff were very kind and gave a wonderful recommendation for the wine. These meatballs were simply amazing, and the desert was divine. Truly a pleasure to dine at.

Had an absolutely outstanding meal tonight. Lucas found us a table right away, even though we didn’t have a booking! And he was amazing the entire night. My partner and I had the meatballs and the pork knuckle, paired with a lovely bottle of Pinot noir. We then had an apple pie like we never have had before, which we were (easily) talked into having a lovely dessert wine with. Thank you for the lovely meal, service and atmosphere!

Excellent food, worth the paid bill. Bill size depends on the order. Attentive service. All the dishes tried were tasty. Quiet location, u bahn is near by
We were lucky to get a table without booking at 17.30, thanks to the host. English speaking. Reservation is highly recommended, check working hours, not open all day. Located in the old building, a restaurant in place for more than 400 years. Summer terrace. Not a lot of photos because all were eaten very quickly:)

This was our first dinner date with toddler post pandemic and best restaurant we chose with outdoor seating. Amazing German food. We relished on pork knuckle and stuffed cabbage roll with crispy pork belly. Friendly and polite staff. Must recommend and will definitely revisit.

Hidden gem in Berlin. Went there for the Christmas menu and it was absolutely worth it. You need to reserve the table and you need to mention that you want the Christmas Goose menu. The cost is 54€ per person but it completely fine for the quality and quantity. The staff is also impeccable. Could not recommend more

Didn't get a chance to dine here, but the place has loads of atmosphere. It had to when you reflect on the fact that Napoleon and Beethoven dined here, back in the day.
