National Car Rental

I am trying to get a hold of them to get information on a "damage or stolen rental car report" I just received yesterday after 2 days of dropping the car off and getting my receipt back. It is impossible to get through or at least talk to someone.

They are very quick in charging me $30 for "processing" a ticket or an $800 fee for a scratch on the bumper.

Meanwhile, they charge you the price of a luxury car, do not honor the reservation, give you an economy. Then, they lie to you saying the price difference will be paid back in the next few days, which never happens.

Thank you for your service, I would not be needing it anymore.

Rented over years from National in Canada without any major problems. Rented a few times in Germany always with problems. Just to get the car you need to allow for a 30-60 minute wait. And you never get a full tank (sorry, that never usually happens bla bla).
This time was a different level though. When picking up the car, it was presented and all damages highlighted. Only that one of the about a dozen damages (yes, 12+ existing damages) wasn't properly registered. It was a few small scratches in a line. I was then told they will follow up to see what they can do. 2 hours later I received a bill that included the full 1150 Euro for the damage. For a few small scratches that can easily be polished out. No repair report, no detailed estimate, absolutely nothing.
They are surely not the cheapest and if something goes wrong they do not care and will just bill you as much as they can. Without any communication.
And try to call their center for damages, nobody answers, it's just a joke.
Horrible experience

We had a car rented and when we arrived to the office, it was closed. We were calling all day long to confirm that all is ok but no one picked up the phone. They simply abandoned us with a paid car, at night with two small children. It's simply a shame. NEVER gonna get National again.

Rented a car here and by the time I went to pick it up, the staff told me there was no cars left.
