Went here last night with the family for dinner. Had Pork Knuckle, Mixed Sausages & Beers. It was really great! Big portions, able for sharing for small tummy.

Great ambience too. Real authentic German food. Highly recommended for tourists. Staff was friendly.

Very nice Bavarian restaurant in Hamburg! My girlfriend and I come from Norway and we wanted to eat something else than fish and ended up here. We are happy we did! The restaurant was full, but we got seated on a table with two nice lady's from the city and was very happy with that! Excellent service and even better food! Good help with ordering and no problem to fix special orders and to change things.
I will absolutely recommend this place!

Best meat I’ve had in ages. Their pork knuckle and sausages are something made of dreams. Strong recommendation to visit here when in Hamburg.

Very authentic feel of Bavaria in Hamburg. Beers were light and the Wednesday schnitzel deal was to die for. Staff very helpful to foreigners who sauntered in to have a meal.

Want to experience authentic Bavarian food, you got to come to eat at Franziskaner. It’s a wonderful restaurant where you can truly enjoy hearty Southern German food and hospitality.

By the time you step into the restaurant, you are welcomed with amazing German enthusiasm and warmth. Servers are all wearing the Southern German Bavarian traditional custom. And the interior transports you to another German era. You know you’re going in for a treat of great German food.

Our big waiter gave us great recommendations of all the famous Bavarian dishes. Our orders covered them all that included sausages, sauerkraut, veggies, knuckle of pork and cold beers.

I highly recommend the crispy knuckle of pork. The skin is so crispy and the meat inside is so tender. the meat felt off bone literally.

Another thing you got to have is their beer. We got light beers and they were so good. Much better than the beers we’ve ever had in the states.

We will definitely be back for more of these foods before we leave Hamburg.

I loved this restaurant. It has a traditional atmosphere that is nice. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The cheese platter was wonderful as was the mushroom soup.

Delicious home-cooked bavarian dishes. The pork loin with smashed potatoes was fantastic.

Very nice little German restaurant, cozy and friendly personnel but most importantly food was great. I definitely recommend the small or full pork knuckle.

Delicious food, complete with English translated menu (thank god!). We tried a few different dishes and even came back a second time on our short trip. I personally liked the knuckle platter (off the bone pork knuckle) and the kellerbier (unfiltered beer). Our family also tried the 403 sausages meal, and the full pork knuckle with some success. Would visit again if back in the city and would recommend for those who enjoy good food, and local cuisines. Note: not all servers are fluent in English but they will try their best and are all very friendly!

Visit Franziskaner last Spring 2019. Love the food and beer. No need to mention about the great location. The service was good and they only use paper recyclable take out bag. Will come back next in Hamburg.

Food was good. Ordered a pork knuckle and was amazed at the portion. Unless you're used to eating a lot of meat at once, I recommend to share a portion. Besides the foods, the restaurant have a very cost wooden interior, reminiscent of actual wooden houses in Bavaria. Very friendly and I would say humorous staff

The staff are dressed in traditional Bavarian clothing. They were very friendly and gave us a game for our two year old to play with while we ate.
We ate the daily special which was delicious. Our daughter ate a wienerschnitzel with fries, though it wasn't to her taste we thought it tasted great.

Love this place. The food was great, excellent service in a very traditional setting.
Their schweinshaxen was really tasty, and I like their sauerkraut.
Truly awesome experience.

Great place to have typical German food and beer. Good atmosphere, relaxed, food choice is decent and not expensive. Meat options were particularly good. Can sit at the bar or at a table and is a good choice for groups with upstairs seating also available. Service was slightly slow but overall was helpful.

A favorite stop when in Hamburg, been coming since 2004. It's more Bavarian-focused in food, but is a welcomed cultural experience.

If you don't speak German, they have made some helpful changes, adding an English menu and ordering by number assigned to each dish. Their staff is much younger now and nearly all had basic English skills. When I first started visiting, this wasn't the case.

My Würstplatte (item 404, sausage platter with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut) and side order of Brezel (Pretzel) shown below. They also bring some great mustard to the table for everyone to share.

I often get the Wiener Schnitzel - theirs is "authentic," using veal instead of pork which is commonly done to save cost at cheaper restaurants. It is quite good also!

Lovely place to grab a beer in central hamburg. The staff were lovely. I can't comment on the food as we did not eat.
