Abaton Kino

It's a fansy, classy, old-fashioned theater/cinema. The staff is friendly and very cozy place. It's small but ''at-home'' atmosphere.

I am in love with this theater. The program is always so good and we get to see films in their original language. Just a perfect experience.

They have 2 theater room, one is a small one while the other is the bigger one! My preference is that I love a small room more, so the setting was perfect! It gave off the feelings of being in nostalgia. The theater room is dark once the movie starts, and they also have this stage-like screen with red curtains that would pulled to the side when the movie is starting! The bar was comfy as well, it’s small but they definitely have a variety of snacks to accompany us while we watch! What I find really cute and adorable is that the concept pf buying drinks here, particularly coffee, chocolate and some alcoholic drinks—you are given a glass cup instead of the usual theater drink cups that are made out of paper. Yes, you have to return them once you’re done, but I just find it very homey. The price of the snacks are reasonable, so don’t worry. Service is very friendly and have a wide smile waiting for us. I came like two times but the server recognizes me nonetheless in the sea of crowd🥹❤

A bit small but very cool atmosphere! English movies are available and the popcorn was so good!

One of Germany's first art house cinemas. While it doesn't impress with it's technology, it has a great selection of films, most of them shown in the original language with subtitles. Also the staff and the crowd is really nice.

I love this old cinema. I was there once with my kids and today because of Filmfest Hamburg.

The Abaton does not offer the high-tech family experience with all the bells and whistles; it is simply a friendly place to watch great films and enjoy a quiet drink. The cinema is well-connected and well-respected in German cultural circles but is just as popular with the local kids and students. The film quality is guaranteed and there are numerous "outreach' activities available throughout the year. The Hamburgers love the Abaton so If you just want a big bag of popcorn and lots of stunning effects, please go somewhere else...

A small and very cozy theatre with friendly staff and a big variety of films (in their original languages too!).
Tickets here are cheaper compared to those of bigger chain theatres, especially with the late night/day of screening discount.
I went there on a weekday so it wasn't that crowded.
The actual cinema hall is quite beautiful too, definitely recommend a visit here.

Great Kino with decent selection of indie/ less main stream movies. Staffs are friendly and they have a decent bar with reasonably priced beverages, incl. wine/ beer.

Also a great place for movie fans that love English movies. They have at least one slot for movies in original English version.

Downside, if the movie of your choice is being hosted in the small room, you better reserve the ticket in advance to avoid any disappointment. It is really a small room with limited space.

Good cinema that plays movies in their original languages. There are screenings on English with German subtitles.
However, be careful, not all cards can be used to pay so it's safer to have cash on you. If needed, you can find ATMs nearby.

Lovely place and friendly staff. Many movies have at least one screening in original language which is great! In case you're running late, the start time is usually the start of the commercials not the actual movie so you've 10-15 min more to make it ;)

Beautiful cozy film theater. Neat bar, fair prices for both the film and the bar. Seemingly sweet people and my chair was hella comfy.

It's a great cinema! It shows movies from many different countries, oft in original version, and the quality of the screens and sound system from its theaters is awesome! I definitely love to watch movies here :)

Very nice cinema - good price and selection of OV screenings. Friendly staff and a lovely bar/snacks area. Come early in the summer and have a drink before your show at one of their many outdoor tables in their truly charming little neighbourhood.

A lovely little kino with its own character and charm. tends to show more arty movies than mainstream and has it's own restaurant next door. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby too for that pre or post film drink.
Recently voted best cinema in Europe.
