Holiday Inn Essen - City Centre, an IHG Hotel

Friendly staff, a lot of soace in the room and an amazing breakfast! Fresh waffles and pancakes, good coffee, fresh tropical fruits. The price for the room with breakfast is unbeatable

It is my second time to stay this hotel. Nice location, nice people and nice service. But My favourite is to see these creative drawings on eggs every morning when I go for breakfast. The most interesting is every day drawings are different, it looks like eggs know people's feeling on each day. I love it. Thanks to the creator for bringing me the unique experience. Although, as noted by many, the rooms are not appealing to the eye because of the dated look, the hotel is kept very clean. I personally stayed in the suite which includes a kitchenette area that has a sink, microwave, dish/cutlery set, larger pullout trash, and the typical small fridge. Also included is a large desk area, a sofa bed, a separate bedroom with a very large bed that is comfortable. The room, however, does lack a safe to secure your items. There are two air conditioning units but with my stay being in winter, I cannot speak on them but heating works really well. Unlike a lot of other hotels, windows not only tilt open but up fully which is a bonus. Lastly, for the room, water pressure is really good and no issues of running out of hot water.

Moving on past just the room, reception is very welcoming and seem to genuinely care about taking care of their guests. The optional breakfast has more options than the typical hotel spread of meat, bread, and cheese. In addition to this, you have the option to make your own waffles, there was bacon, sausage, scrambled/boiled/eggs over easy, fruit, 3 types of yogurt, nice selection of jam, 3 types of honey, 6 types of cereal I recall, among other items not mentioned. Lastly, the location is great with lots of restaurant options in the area and the mall right across the street. As I write this review, I have been staying here now for 7 days and have another 14 to go and will update the review if necessary.

Update: the rest of our 14 days was a pleasant experience and I definitely recommend others to stay here.

Proper room, good bed, friendly staff, excellent bar tender and fantastic breakfast on a central location. Just like many other things in this part of Germany it could use an upgrade but the locals spend their money on nice electric Audis and MBs instead 🙂

Room is big and comfortable, breakfast is tasty. DISADVANT: very soft pillows, very soft matrass, no shower cap, too narrow exit from parking.

Very good hotel for a work trip, service and location are perfect. I think the price is a little bit high though comparing with others. 50 to 60 Euro per night would be the best price

Clean and well positioned hotel in the centre.
Spacious rooms and soft beds. For a business trip - perfect.
Sauna is nice, just forget the gym, it's nonexistent.

Excellent location and staff. Rooms are clean and well kept. Breakfast buffet is excellent with a wide variety of foods. Underground parking also available as part of the hotel.

Value for money. We got an amazing deal for two day visit to Movie Park and one night stay at Holiday Inn. If you drive, there are park houses nearby which are more affordable than the hotel's park space.

Staff here were excellent. Rooms were good, good breakfast. Would recommend.

Great hotel and staff. Clean room. Highly recommended. Lots of parking in the area. There's also a tremendous gym right by the Hotel.

Nice hotel at 15 minutes from the railstation, employees are welcoming, rooms are big amd clean, breakfast has amazing choice of food (more choice on hot drinks could be great however. I recommand this hotel, would definitely stay here again.

It's really a great hotel, very nice people and near downtown for this who like to go shopping.
