Monkey Foods Market

Amazing new restaurant in Dominical. The owner, Marco, went above and beyond to treat us to a personal and delicious experience. The mezcal cocktail was superb. We also loved the ceviche and wings. Beautiful presentation and yummy flavors. We’ve been coming to Dominical for years and it’s nice to see a restaurant like this finally pop up.

The restaurant has tasty creative plates but small portions and overpriced. Not sure how many locals will be able to appreciate it. The market has mainly junk food and alcohol. Was hoping for a health food / bulk store especially given the branding reference to “Whole Foods”. Hope they will start bringing in a greater selection of organic snacks and groceries at a fair price as there are plenty of places to buy chips and booze in Domi.

This building is out of place. Strange. Not a lot of options. Any other grocery within a domi is better selection and price. But they have wine. I feel like this place exists to make people from super gentrified areas with money feel safe.
Everyone working there is really nice.

Do not buy grassfed CR products here.

I purchased trocitos de carne which are c4500 / 500g from grassfed CR. Monkey foods market charges c9500 / 500g. Unfortunately the pricing is NOT on the package or I would’ve put it back. I swiped my card and then noticed the receipt, tried to return it “can’t return with a card”.

I get everyone has to make money, but this is more than double the normal price and no doubt they get discounts from grassfed CR.

This pricing is absurd and I highly recommend staying away if you don’t want to be taken advantage of. Absolute tourist trap.
