Mama Toucan's Natural Market

This organic grocery store is absolutely amazing, you can find everything that you need and the ice cream cookies are absolutely delicious. Made with vegan coconut ice cream with no Additives. You literally can get everything that you need and the staff is so friendly and so welcome. Totally worth checking out especially if you love to cook.

So many great vegan options if you want to cook at home or to take some snacks on the road. Also a great coffee and chocolate selection for souvenirs and gifts. The vegan baked goods were decent but not the best. The biggest downfall here is the prices as it is very expensive

Popped in this store a couple times to grab snacks for my drive to Quepos. I loved the variety of snacks they had. Highly recommend the house made empanadas & chocolate chip cookies!

Variety of organic, also vegan etc food and fresh made dishes at the bar too. Fell in love with the fresh chocolate chip cookies and pies, addictive! (Vegan) coconut milk ice cream is good too! If you have a thing for nice supermarkets, that’s your spot ;)

edit : we have visited this shop countless times over the past year and used to love the (only) plant based sandwich called the Boston Garden.. and upon our third visit to CR, we were beyond disappointed to find about a tbsp of shredded carrot in between two soggy slices of bread, two lettuce leaves and no pesto, mushrooms and a yellow slice of tomato. We now avoid the deli altogether and try to limit our visits considering how insulted we were to be served such a pitiful sandwich.

Tiny little shop that offers everything from fresh sandwiches to canadian maple syrup, to non toxic cosmetics, to organic local fruit and veg. The prices are quite steep considering that most specialty products such as Bobs Red Mill or gluten free pasta from Italy are imported from quite far, but it’s nice to have access to familiar items. The bagels and sourdough from the bakery next door are the best in the area and the house made chocolate chip cookies are insanely delicious. Oh and to make things even better, the shop is always clean and the staff are wonderful.

This was the best store I'd been to during my year in Costa Rica. It's a beautiful store selling all the kinds of products you'd expect to see in a health food shop. They also have a deli and lots of baked goods such as vegan banana bread, carrot cake and blackberry muffins - delicious! :)

Cute little store, lots of stuff you won't find in the big supermarkets. Especially like their coconut based ice cream.

This was the best experience for groceries here in Costa Rica. I personally have many food restrictions due to allergies. This store had all dairy free, egg free , plant based, and gluten free you could find. I can finally breathe knowing I will eat this week during our vacation in your wonderful country.

This place is just awesome. Amazing selection and a really cool staff. We brought our whole family to eat items from the deli and everything was so fresh and delicious. We even had vegan and vegetarian family members and everyone was so happy. Best sandwich in town! Highly recommended.

I recently visited Mama Toucan's Farmers Market in Uvita and it was an absolute delight! Best Organic Market from Quepos to Uvita in our experience. We've been staying over this area for 3 weeks. I drive over 45 minutes just to get groceries from here. Mama Toucans is a beautiful grocery store with conscious goods and great people working there. I can find what I need for my large family of 6 with a Gluten Free diet. They also cater to a Dairy Free Diet with plant based cheeses, mayo and sauces. They also carry plant based meat alternatives and delicious coconut ice cream. Coconuts cut open for a dollar! Wow! When visiting Domincal a little over 8 years ago, this place was a little hole in the wall. Talk about a place growing and thriving. It has to be five times larger than it was then and the items offered for sale have grown a hundredfold. Grab a meal there or find the organic ingredients to take home and prepare.

Mama Toucans is the absolute best! We are so lucky to have this store in the community. They have a great variety of local and imported natural foods, beauty products, beer and wine, and more. The deli is always serving up delicious soups, salads, sandwiches and smoothies. They have something for everyone no matter your dietary restrictions. Everyone who works here is so lovely and they are always giving back to the community too.

It's a very nice, expensive market, that caters mainly to foreigners. Although some of the products are insanely pricey, they're all top quality and fantastic. They make some of the best sourdough on earth and I would gladly trade a limb for it. In addition to the heavenly bread, they also bake all sorts of cakes, cookies and goodies.

Everything about this place is amazing, including the friendly staff, and caring owners!

All food in the store meets the owner's high criteria for "natural," particularly produce that is grown without harmful chemical pesticides.

Also one of the best options in town for fast pizza, sandwiches or snacks cooked to order.

Make sure to check out the menu at the DELI: Must try soups, Tempeh Springs Rolls, and Mama Toucan's brand Coconut Ice Cream (which is so creamy and delicious)

All baked goods, especially pies and Chocolate Cookies are also highly recommended.

A perfect oasis of great healthy food, smart drinks, vegan and health conscience selection of grains, pasta, wine, fresh fruits and vegetables, not to mention a gourmet prepared foods and cafe kitchen. Hummus, fresh spring rolls, wraps, pizza, the list goes on, one of our favorite places in the whole world. Educated and motivated staff who are willing to help even the shyest tourist. Mama Toucan’s Cocolado (Coconut Milk Ice Cream) is inspirational and creative, especially for those of you who are lactose sensitive. Great place to visit while surfing in town or at EnvisionFest, we’ll be back to see our favorite market in the world! Yeyeyeye!

A gem. It carries many organic products including fruits and veggies, cage-free eggs and daily baked goods. It is comparable to the The Green Center in San José. Although pricy, it offers many locally crafted organic wellness products that are not available anywhere else. Also, it's non-dairy ice-cream is a welcoming alternative for the dairy-free conscious. The only suggestion I have is that they upkeep their price tags. Numerous tags are either misplaced or absent. Overall though a wonderful presence and savory shopping experience in the area. Highly recommended.

Mama Toucan's is the BEST! I am there multiple times a week picking up something for our family. The deli has great options for a quick and easy meal (the spring rolls are out of this world). The owner (Chris) and staff are so kind and welcoming. I am incredibly grateful for this little store in our town!
