The Castillo Azul (Blue Castle) is one of the most emblematic buildings of Costa Rica, becoming a political and historic reference for the Costa Rican people. The castle is located at the vicinity of Ricardo Jiménez Boulevard where you can walk through its long pedestrian avenue and visit the adjacent buildings which have a great cultural and social value.

One of the identifying marks of Castillo Azul is the architectural structure that combines styles as different as the neocolonial or the mediterranean. One of the aspects of the building's aesthetics are its colours, which give it a appearance of spaciousness and sobriety.

The building houses the current Costa Rican Legislative Assembly, but throughout its life, the building had other different roles like, for example, being the Presidential House of dictator Federico Alberto Tinoco or the headquarters of the American Embassy.

Castillo Azul has an incredible story full of ups and downs since it was founded in the republican era commissioned by Máximo Fernández. Thanks to its historic, architectural and political content, The Blue Castle has been recognised as a national monument, becoming one of the most symbolic buildings of Costa Rica.

El Castillo Azul, Patrimonio Arquitectónico Nacional, más de 100 años de historia de nuestro país, fue construida por don Máximo Fernández y fue su casa de habitación, fue casa presidencial y desde su balcón se daban los discursos presidenciales, luego fue embajada de EEUU después en la década de los 80's paso a hacer parte de la Asamblea Legislativa. La arquitectura del lugar es increíble y para su época debió se un edificio increíble. Hoy en día se siente la historia de nuestro país al entrar en el.

Fue una experiencia muy importante y bonita la restauración del castillo azul

Es una de las cuatro edificaciones que pertenecen a la Asamblea Legislativa de Costa Rica, su arquitectura combina el estilo neocolonial con elementos modernos, lo que la asemeja a una mansión mediterránea. En su interior, el Castillo Azul posee un hermoso patio de estilo español.

Parece que está en proceso de remodelación.

Caminando del Parque Nacional al Museo Nacional de Costa Rica me llamo la atención este edificio azul. Resulta que es el edificio de la Asamblea Legislativa.

Es un bonito edificio, con una arquitectura muy interesante. Sin embargo de momento sigue siendo un simple edificio de oficinas y no hay mucho que ver. Habrá que ver cómo es aprovechado luego de que los diputados se muden al nuevo edificio.
