Such a tranquil hotel experience. ALL the staff were SO helpful, any question, they will be quick to help you! The atmosphere was so peaceful, clean, and beautiful! So if you love art and beauty please look no further.The breakfast was delicious, the fruit SUPER FRESH. Nothing but smiles all around the hotel. I would definitely stay again.

Casa 69 is a a total gem in downtown San Jose. Clean, comfortable, calm and beautiful. The owner and all staff really helpful and lovely. A big tasty breakfast is included and there is a fabulous roof terrace, perfect to watch the sunset. Location is great as it’s really close to many museums and central market. I really recommend staying here.

A beautiful ,green oasis in busy downtown San Jose ! The hotel itself is comfortable, charming and love the green koi pond area and rooftop balcony. The owner ,Kurt, and all the staff are fabulous , extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast is delicious with warm fresh rolls, jams,fruit and eggs cooked as you prefer.The museums and restaurants are in walking distance. Definitely a gem , we'll be back for sure.

Kurt, the owner, made us feel at home. He is an amazing guy. I felt like I am staying with a friend rather than a hotel. The staff are also nice and polite.

The hotel is walking distance from downtown and Escalande. A bit in a noisy area but so many other advantages that you can not ignore.

Kurt the manager has been amazing since my arrival. Breakfast was delicious and all staff are polite and attentive.

There is a train track nearby which you the train horns in the morning, didn't bother me.

Rooms are extremely clean, nice hot shower.

Walking distance to downtown

Its a home away from home and I definitely recommend anyone wanting to explore San Jose to stay at this beautiful Hotel Casa 69.

Hotel Casa 69 was a very nice stay on our trip. The staff were friendly and courteous and helpful. The room was quiet and clean as well. The morning breakfast was so good, eggs, fresh bread and fresh pineapple and papaya and you could have coffee, tea and papaya juice. I almost forgot, they have a beautiful sweet black lab named Violeta that made our morning that much brighter! Would stay again!

This place was a great find for us. We just needed somewhere for a couple of nights while we found our feet after a long flight.

The location was perfect - walk for 10 minutes in one direction and you are in the centre. Walk for 10 minutrs in the opposite direction, and you have a street lined with bars and restaurants (and where we had the best nachos we have ever tasted). Our breakfast was also delicious, fresh bread, fresh cooked eggs, fruit, fruit juices and as much coffee as you can drink. The owner and his team were super-helpful throughout (thank you Winston). In summary, a great little hotel, we'd come back.

The staff here go above and beyond to help you! Breakfast is unlimited and plentiful (juice, eggs, bread with homemade local jams and coffee/tea).

Rooms are spacious and so are the bathrooms, beds are very comfortable.

There’s nothing I could say that could capture how this place absolutely made our vacation. The location is perfect - a 10 minute walk from downtown San Jose where there is everything you would want to see in the city. There are also fun bars and restaurants nearby.

Secondly, the staff, cleanliness, and overall energy of the place is perfect. Winston, Walter, and co. went above and beyond constantly to make us feel at home and taken care of. They are unbelievably friendly and kind, and the rooms and layout of the building is cozy and intimate. We were served a wonderful breakfast every morning and could rely on reliable transportation when needed. From giving us water bottles on our way out the door to a long day to giving us tips on SIM cards and taking out cash, they guided us throughout!

This place is seriously the best - if you don’t stay here when visiting San Jose, you’re doing San Jose all wrong.

You get way better a quality than what you pay. From the charming host who speaks 4-5 languages, to the breakfast staff, they are all super friendly. They help you figure out your day plans, entertain you with worldly life stories and care for you if you get sick.
The lovely colourful interior with the gold fish and the pond makes your scrumptious breakfast even more memorable.
Nothing is luxurious but everything is more than sufficient for the dollar you pay.
Prime location, walking distance to downtown, the chic Escalante and the entertainment district for the nightlife owlers!

What a gem! Beautiful place, kind and helpful staff, I felt super at home in the room, and Casa 69 had everything I needed. Plus multiple great food options neseby and everything os walking distance. Definitely coming back! (Next time, I'll just ask for an inside room so the nearby train noise isn't as loud in the early morning.)

Very friendly and outgoing service, staff is always friendly and helpful, as is the dog pet of the house, so cute! good breakfast, comfortable room (could use AC or extra fan) but clean & good location. Some noise from train & night life but very tolerable. Is a “gay friendly”, not a gay hotel, so know that; very tolerable, and accommodating, safe property. They have a laundry service which is very helpful…

This tiny hotel was exactly what I needed for a one night stay in San Jose. They were very communicative before I arrived and after, super friendly and helpful. The hotel is quiet but located in downtown SJ so it is at a very convenient part of town. They helped arranged for a taxi in early morning hours and everything was perfect. It was clean, quiet and warm. I would definitely stay here again!

Our stay at Casa 69 was one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica! The folks running the hotel were attentive and fun, and assisted us with planning our various activities / dining / nightlife. The breakfast (included) was a fantastic start to the day, prepared fresh each morning. Will definitely be staying here again on future trips to the area.

We stayed as a couple in a privat room.
The overall package that you get for the price seems unbeatable too me!
First, the host is very welcoming and helpful. He answered us all the questions we had, gave recommendations for San Jose and booked our transportation to move on.
Secondly, the room is quite spacious, it has a nice bed, warm shower with the best water pressure we had in CR so far.
Third, the place is just beautiful! You have a cool patio to overlook the city, there is an inner courtyard with plants and areas to chill out indoors. They also offer breakfast both for free and optional add ons against charge.
Lastly, we felt super save staying there. There is a fence, multiple walls and reinforced doors, cameras with 24h supervision, a grid in front of our window so we could sleep with it opened and the owner himself sleeps in the house.
Anyone spending a night in San Jose, I can recommend this place!

Winston and the staff are incredibly helpful and accommodating. From arranging airport transfers, guidance on the city, and even helping us practice our Spanish!
Rooms are clean, quiet, and comfortable; Note, there is a train that runs near the property, but only at night, so shouldn't pose a problem for most people. There is no a/c, but really wasn't needed during our stay.
Location is in/near an upper middle neighbourhood (Barrio Escalante) with a cluster of diverse and upscale restos. Casa 69 is also a perfect base to explore the city via self-guided walking tour.
Breakfast here is phenomenal! Fresh fruit, fresh bread, eggs cooked to order, and Costa Rican coffee. What more can you ask for to start your day?!

What a little gem, Kurt (owner), Winston, Walter (taxi). Are all just wonderful. Great little pub just 20yrds away, & a great Peruvian restaurant just around the corner, next time I'm in San Josè I will certainly be staying here. Such good value for money, with an excellent breakfast thrown in too. Thanks for a wonderful stay guy,s. Xxx

We had a great time at casa 69. We stayed two nights, one when we arrived in CR and when we left. We checked in very late but despite that, the staff took very good care of us and we woke up and were served really nice breakfast. They even offered to fry plátanos as we didn't want to have eggs!
Enrique and Winston helped us with everything and made us feel very comfortable so far away from home.
I wish I could give 6 stars for the fried plátanos!!

In a somewhat chaotic city this place is an oasis of peace. Very friendly people, rooms good enough considering the price and a very nice breakfast in a lovely setting. Recommended for everyone to start or end their holiday in costa rica.
