Chachagua Rainforest Hotel & Hot Springs

Incredibly peaceful oasis in the midst of the rainforest. The food and service at both restaurants was consistently good and varied menu of creative mouth watering dishes. The coffee and chocolate tour, highly recommend! Alex the concierge was helpful in planning and arranging activities and yoga with Jessie, best yoga class I have taken in a long time. This is a unique location where mother nature can be seen with every step! A little stray wandered into the site that was incredibly friendly....I hope he found a home!

Still thinking about this hotel. So unique and in an absolutely beautiful setting. We loved our room, hearing the sounds of the jungle and one morning waking up to the sound of monkeys in the trees! My 2 and 6 year old loved the hot springs and the slide. We also did the guided hike, which was wonderful. Food was good, people were all incredibly nice… I want to go back!

This was an amazing experience! Tucked about 15 minutes south of La Fortuna, the property truly feels like an immersion into the rainforest. The rooms are private, surrounded by lush foliage. We loved the hot-spring pools, the nature trail, and the delicious food! They also facilitated all of our nature adventures each day. We can’t wait to come back with our kids next time.

Highly recommend hotel within the rich & beautiful Costa Ativan rainforest . Rooms were clean & excellent, at standards far higher than average. The manager, Daniel, was helpful, friendly, & professional. Would definitely recommend. Only mild inconvenience is having to go to La Fortuna for airport shuttles & ample restaurants, but an easy 20 minute ride away.

We were here for our honeymoon and had the most amazing time. We stayed at the Chachagua Villas, a sister property just down the road, but had access to this beautiful property. We loved going to the hot springs and pools everyday. They have waterslides going into the river and the natural pool which was so much fun. If the pool is too cold, just hop into the natural hot springs and relax. The restaurant at the pool had the best service. Rudi and Dina were there everyday and remembered our names instantly which made for a great experience, they also made the best drinks we had while in Costa Rica. Although I cannot speak to the rooms, I cannot recommend this place enough. It is beautiful and makes you truly feel like you are on a Costa Rican vacation with hiking trails, waterfalls, and rainforest all around. The staff makes you feel so welcome and right at home. We hope to come back again as soon as we can!

We visited in June for my 30th birthday and stayed one week. The staff and resort were extremely helpful. We booked directly though them and they booked all our excursions and put together our itinerary. It was amazing. We had a shuttle from the resort pick us up and the driver was great and had cold beverages for us on the drive. When we got to the resort they had cold towel and more refreshments waiting. They gave us a tour of the resort and showed us to our room. The room was very clean and house keeping came every day. The restaurants both had wonderful food and the staff was great. The drinks were also very good. The hot springs were kept clean and we spent a lot of time in this area. There is also plenty of nature around the trail. We did a guided hike one day where we learned a lot of interesting facts. We also did some of the trails ourselves other day. There is plenty to do right on the grounds but if you would like to venture out the staff is more than helpful to help get you transportation to La fortuna to check out the town or plan your off sight activities. Highly recommend!

What an amazing property! Our family had a an absolutely wonderful 5 night stay here in a rainforest bungalow. We loved the space, comfort, and privacy of the bungalow for the three of us. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable.

The hotel is set in the rainforest and the grounds are beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot springs pools on site. We also took advantage of the trails on the property for both day and night hikes. We did not take advantage of the waterslides, but it looks like folks were having fun with them. On our last morning at the hotel, we were greeted by five monkeys in the trees by the restaurant.

The food at both the main restaurant and the pool bar is very good. Is it mind blowing, no, but it met our expectations and the prices were not outrageous. The service was top-notch, super friendly and helpful people.

The hotel is somewhat secluded, so would highly recommend a rental car. It’s about 20-25 minutes to La Fortuna, but close enough to all the activities the area offers.

Incredible location surrounded by rainforest. Excellent service, everyone was very attentive, passionate, and accommodating. Hot springs were beautiful but not very warm. Currently undergoing renovations for future upgrades. We did several tours and the coffee and chocolate tour was amazing. David was our best tour guide, he was very knowledgeable and passionate. Bungalows were very nice with a huge shower and a porch with a couch and hammock. Great hiking trails with lots of wildlife to see. Overall a luxurious experience in the rainforest.

A true rainforest experience with a bit of luxury! Gorgeous adjoining rooms with a private plunge pool for our family. Food was delicious and the service was exceptional. If you are interested in the rainforest or tropical plants, this is the place.

The most amazing place I've ever visited. It is like a world of its own with their beautiful hot springs pools, cozy jungle bungalows, fabulous dining, and optional activities on-site. I loved everything from laying in the hammock outside of my bungalow, just listening to the birds and being surrounded by nature, to soaking in the warm pools, to their rainforest night walk. The night walk cost extra, but it was a unique experience that was worth every penny, and David was a wonderful guide. We had several meals at the onsite bar and restaurant, and all were fantastic. They had quite a few vegetarian options including mushroom gallos (tacos) and falafel. Their hot springs pools were so stunning and relaxing, both day and night. They also have a complimentary guided hike and yoga (though we didn't get a chance to enjoy those). Our bungalow was clean, comfortable, spacious, and beautifully designed. The hotel staff went above and beyond every step of our visit. They even surprised me with birthday balloons and candy in my bungalow upon my arrival. La Fortuna is an easy 20-minute drive away with lots more restaurants and things to do (the Sloth Watching Trails are a must). I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a true Costa Rica experience!

Had an incredible experience here with my family. The rooms are so cozy and well done, with a feel of being deep in the jungle because you are. The grounds were beautiful and fun to walk. The highlight of our stay was certainly our waiter Tony; we looked forward to seeing him at both breakfast and dinner. He was great to talk to, have great advice, and went above and beyond, even bringing me food to my room when I fell ill one day. Highly recommend this place.

It was our first trip to Costa Rica and the hotel we chose was amazing. Was clean , quiet , peaceful, stuff was polite and kind. The only down side it was a bit far from fortuna downtown about 25-30 min drive. And it was hard to get Uber from the area. But the hotel offers transportation service so it was ok

My wife, 2 year old daughter, sister and I stayed for 6 nights in a 2 bedroom villa and it was perfect. Big rooms, each with their own mini fridge/air conditioner/TV/typical stuff, but they also each opened to a big patio. Due to an illness we stayed in the room the first entire day and totally enjoyed it. The view of the jungle from our pool and patio was lovely.

Staff is friendly (and speaks English).

Food was delicious.

The hot springs were absolutely incredible; coupled with water slides, and a bar they're an amazing way to finish off a day of hiking. We spent hours there. I suggest the onsite guided tour. The location of the hotel allowed to drive to several other spots for guided tours/hikes, which was a big plus.

Lovely place in the rainforest, service was top notch. Food was great. Everything was comfortable. Would come back.

Favorite hotel in Costa Rica. Hot springs are cool, the grounds are gorgeous, and the staff is amazing. Stayed in a villa and it was perfect.

This place is an absolute 💎 GEM! I am so happy we found it. The grounds are beautiful, the staff are lovely, everything is clean, the food is very good, everything absolutely perfect. It is a bit pricey but not nearly as much as some of the others we saw. One thing we didn’t realize was how far it is from La Fortuna, it’s a hike and can be a very expensive taxi so be aware of that. Also the excursions are pretty pricey, I’m sure they are great, but we didn’t want to spring for them. Overall though, it’s fantastic, I will be recommending to everyone I know! Side note for the resort: please add a small souvenir shop with coffee and chocolate at the resort!
