Bosque Nuboso el Cocora

This was our first stop in the country and it was amazing! We walked through the hummingbird garden and saw so many different species! We also explored the butterfly garden and were surrounded by tropical plants and butterfly’s. It was worth the $10 per person and a great stop on the way to La Fortuna. Make sure to stop by if you’re driving through!

Super friendly staff! Very nice hummingbird and butterfly gardens. We did the 2.5km adventure path and can highly recommend it! Bring one of the hiking poles offered and good shoes. Takes about an hour on clearly marked path. You might get muddy, but it is worth it. And then enjoy the good food in the cafe. All of it very reasonably priced!

Food and observatory was amazing! Perfect pit spot on the way to our destination! Highl recommend the rainforest trail!

We had carne en salsa Casado and my daughter had chicken nuggets . We also had strawberry smoothies and watermelon smoothies. It was incredible! And the lady that served us was the owner herself and she was VERY sweet and kind. Her food was delicious. 💚💚💚 loved seeing all of the hummingbirds and different species of butterflies. Price wasn't bad at all. $10 per person (kid free) to visit the butterfly, hummingbird sanctuary, and do the trail all together . Very worth it. I'll pay that every time to a small family's business that serve quality food and care about it their nature.

The trail isn't that hard. It's just a bit slippery but we love a good adventure! It felt incredibly natural to do a hike in a beautiful rainforest to get the best authentic experience. If my 5 year old can do it, anyone can. 😉

Best coffee and nature-immersion quick-stop on an otherwise long drive! Our family loved the small but lively butterfly garden and small but buzzing hummingbird zone. We didn’t have time for the 2.5km walk but the 200m stroll while the red honey coffee was brewing was enriching and cloud forest lush!

Beautiful hike and amazing butterfly garden. They're very friendly and explained the entire place to us in English. Definitely recommend if you're passing by! They also sell jewelery made with the wings of butterflies who've died in the garden, which is very cool.

amazing people! they were extremely kind and helped us learn a bit about the area. we bought a coffee from the restaurant and they gave us half price for the hummingbird sanctuary access, worth the $5 for us to see over a dozen hummingbirds floating around us

Beautiful little stop along the way to San Jose. The $10 fee per person was absolutely worth it. Great views of the valley and beautiful hummingbirds and butterflies. Also a couple of little hiking trails if you want to go into the forest.

This place was amazing they have so much infor.ation and the hummingbirds are so cool to see them play and move. And they are so beautiful!!! I will come again!

Loved the hummingbird feeding area and the butterflies. The food was delicious and the staff were really helpful, realising that we were waiting for the bus they came out and told us we were in the wrong place and where to wait to be picked up!

Stopped for lunch, convinced by all the signs along the highway. Excellent food, my picky kid gave the fettuccine Alfredo 6 stars out of 5 😃. Kids loved the hot chocolate, fun presentation, and coffee was great.

What a delightful stop on the way to La Fortuna from San Jose. Beautiful hummingbirds, butterflies, and coffee/wine tastings. Long and short excursions available.

Very nice little stop for coffee, very friendly and clean restroom. We just looked around for a few minutes but everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Lovely little spot. Stop here on your way to arenal mountains for a welcome break from the roads. You will be amazed by the Butterflies and hummingbirds. Very quaint and welcome atmosphere. For sure a great way to wind down and observe some local wildlife. There is also a mini market, if you need anything for your onward journey.

Really cute stop on our road trip from San Jose to La Fortuna. We got a flat tire upon entering and spent like 3 hours here to wait for roadside assistance to come help us; it was well worth it. We ate at the restaurant, purchased some souvenirs, and had a nice time observing the hummingbirds, butterflies, and doing the ~1 mile hike through the forest. Note that the forest trail was pretty slippery/muddy and when we hiked it (around 2 PM) we didn’t observe many birds; I’m guessing we would have seen more in the morning. Staff here is very friendly and helped my husband out when he got a splinter on the hike from grabbing on to a tree for balance.

Wonderful butterfly and hummingbird conservatory on the way to La Fortuna. They also have a nice little trail on the property.

We went to the other location- “Mariposario Vida De Colores” in San Ramon. The host family is very passionate about what they do. On the tour we viewed butterflies in their various stages. It was very educational. We learned many fun and interesting facts. We would recommend that you stop by if you’re in the area.
