The sculpture is great but too hot during the day. Try to get there in the morning or late after the sunset. If you go over the day you would not be able to get it and enjoy the attraction of getting in the boot! Secure place to be.

Very popular place for good pictures, also it's a must to see in Cartagena. Could be only a sculpture of old shoes but it's just behind the big San Felipe castle and around the corner from the most iconic places in the city.

one of the most beautiful monuments in the city, the sculpture of the old shoes is a place you have to visit, around there are small shops where you can buy handicrafts.

They are for sure the biggest shoes you will ever see. You can get inside them and locals are nice enough to take your picture. Also at night the "Chivas rumberas" or party bus stop there and people dance, eat food and shop.

Crowded place, lots of street vendors.

The metal gets really hot to the touch so be careful when climbing in during the day. The street merchants can be very annoying as they are extremely persistent with trying to get folks to buy something. Bargain for everything. People are very hungry so they are very desperate to sell. The cost of living is ~500,000 pesos. The average job pays ~250,000 pesos. So they hustle to feed their families. It's hard out here economically for them but great for visitors as everything is sold cheap. But be aware, they are very annoying and persistent especially when they know the visitor is from the U.S. No, doesn't mean no to them, it means they still have a chance. We didn't want to be rude so we didn't disrespect but began to ignore them until they walked away. We also didn't make eye contact as thatvwas a clear sign to them that we were interested.

I am a professional tour guide in Colombia. My base is in Cartagena De Indias and I visit the monument to the old shoes with my tourists since it is a reference monument of our culture and history.

Nice place. Los Zapatos Viejos or as many know them "Las Botas Viejas" is in homage to the "Poet" Luis Carlos Lopez behind "El Castillo de San Felipe" in his native Cartagena, Colombia.

The boots are good photo op with the exception of all of the vendors pandering around you. They swarm you as soon as they see you and there's a market close by. It's right beside/across from Castillo San Felipe Castle.
