We strongly support the workers here and not union-busting that could happen even after the strike.

Otherwise this has always been a great spot for produce and British food - and some hard to find ingredients. It's at a prime location in Halifax, great staff and selection of cakes and pastries. Extremely needed downtown!

EDIT: updated as I've just eaten at Pete's Gluten Free Eatery downtown. It was delicious - I had an arugula salad with apple, pecans, dried cranberry, and a maple honey dressing. Honestly, I saw the kiosk in the food court and had the initial reaction of "oh, it's probably semi-dry muffins and uninspired sandwiches" and I couldn't have been more wrong. Worth checking out if you're around near lunchtime!

A little pricier than a Superstore or Sobeys, but Pete's delivers on so many levels. Fresh food, great selection, and amazing to-go sandwiches, soups, and salads.

They've been purchased by a larger company, but hopefully things continue as per usual - Pete's is where I would do my grocery shopping on the regular if I lived nearby.

I shopped at Pete's today around 1:30. The employee named Agnes who's extremely helpful and friendly, having an employee like her really adds shine for Pete's.

Great selection of fruit and veggies, good price, VERY fresh and good quality. I got red grapes here today and they are the best grapes I've ever tasted in my life. I also had sushi here once and it was very good!

I got 3 cucumbers, 5 ears of corn, a box of like 15 peaches, a big bag of grapes, 4 oranges, and a carton of eggs for only 30$!

I love Pete's but it's about the workers there ,they are so kind ,and so helpful for me personally ,and when i heard and saw they were on strike ,I felt so bad ,then was offered 25 raise seriously ,that's disgusting, pay them what they want ,they deserve that ,I pray you are all back to work soon 🙏I miss going there .I'm really sorry this is happening. Stay strong 💪 💓

This was on June 20th, 2023 late afternoon/early evening. I had just come from across the country looking for a place for the upcoming school year. I felt defeated due to the horrible housing market/dealing with rude property companies. I felt so alone and ever so hungry. I came across Pete's and I grabbed some sushi. While waiting in line, the sushi package came apart and fell to the ground. The sushi went everywhere on the floor. I looked around in horror, wondering if the meaning of life was solely to suffer. However, a very nice associate/or manager quickly came up to me and apologized. They said don't worry, stuff like this happens. They then went on to get me another sushi pack. Whoever that person was, thank you. While this review might be a bit extra, that person really lifted my spirits up. No joke, the food is really good and reasonably priced. All of the staff I dealt with from the multiple times I was there were very friendly. Definitely recommend this place.

The produce is always fresh and they often have hard-to-find fruits there. It's lovely to be able to get warm food that's well made and (seemingly) healthy. Last week, I needed a cake last minute and bought a cake from their bakery section. The cake was delicious and honestly, really pretty too, for a great price. I'm so glad to have a Pete's downtown!

Fresh produce always in great shape! Excellent source for many fine cheeses, sauces, British goods, organic meats, other organic products as well as inorganic... Also it has a lunch counter with sandwiches and salads made on the spot. I ordered a small salad where I could tell the clerk all the ingredients I wanted in a small salad and chose a balsamic dressing. This small salad was so huge, I couldn't finish it. It's really the best grocery store in Halifax.

Always a good selection and staff eager to help. A bit pricey but the quality reflects that. They have a juice bar, sushi nami section, lunch line section that serves breakfast sandwiches that are so good as well as soups, salads, sandwiches (chicken pesto is to die for). And the variety of produce is much more than you’d find at your average grocery store.

Amazing fudge! I go here mainly for the fudge. I was disappointed that I could not find any fudge near me (I live in Yarmouth), and I was very excited to find it at Pete's. I almost never get to Halifax, but when I do, I load up! (It's the type of very sweet, firm, and smooth fudge that I'm used to from Alberta, not the grainy or fake stuff that some people here like). I also had some cakes and desserts from their bakery and they were excellent! For a place that is basically a grocery store, I found their baked goods to be surprisingly high quality. It is worth paying the toll to cross from Dartmouth to Halifax, oh yes.

Always such a good selection of mushrooms and veggies that are fresher than most grocery stores. Great lunch options, sushi is also made fresh everyday with a few vegan options too! (If you were wondering) also a huge selection of good cheeses, and I love that Pete’s supports local a lot too. Ciro’s mozzarella is the best. Can be a little pricy but I find you get what you pay for :)

Great food great service very unique. I love the local food idea. It's a great reason to support Pete's. Their smoothies, vegan foods and from what I hear the rest of the foods are delicious. I have been going there for a long time to eat and occasionally shop for produce.
The exotic fruits are a splendid luxury.

My co-worker and I visit Pete's almost everyday for lunch. The food selection is amazing. We mainly get served at the Deli Bar by Sara and another girl with dark hair (missed her name) and they are always so helpful and speedy. In fact, we were in today and they were helping us. :) The rest of the staff are so friendly and always provide excellent service.

Always a pleasure to shop at Pete's. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The produce is fresh and there's a great selection of international foods too. You will pay a bit more for your grocery staples here but they are just for convenience. Pete's is really about providing shoppers with food items and service you just can't find elsewhere.

I called the Bedford location from out of province to request a gift basket for a family member. The person I spoke with was very patient and helpful, allowed me to request a custom assortment of items, and the price was very reasonable. Within one day's notice, the basket was ready and put together beautifully. I'm very pleased with the service.

I've never visited Pete's, but hope to one day. I'm writing this as a customer from a different province in Canada (Ontario). I've been ordering a specific type of olives for about 2+ years now (Pete's is the only one in Canada that carries it!), and their customer service has been great. First, the fact that they go out of their way to ship it without any additional charge is amazing. You don't find a lot of companies willing to do this! Secondly, the customer service I've had with all of the employees have been fantastic. They are always friendly and willing to help. I would definitely recommend Pete's!

if it's possible for a grocery store to be cozy this one CRUSHES it. i sometimes just walk around in here just for fun. it feels like a hug. i love all the european / exotic selection and the layout of the store, the staff and the lil food places, agh! it's usually pretty busy but that adds to its appeal. i love the flower / plant selection and the cheesecakes. i just wish things weren't so pricey!
