Best Western Plus Chocolate Lake Hotel

Although in the past we haven't stayed here, I have attended several events that were hosted here. Hosting of the events was always great and the facilities were very nice. This time we actually had the ability to stay here the night prior to the event that we were scheduled to attend. We found the room to be of comparable size in cleanliness too much higher rated hotels. We found it to be quite fresh and clean. We had recently stayed at a much higher rated hotel in the downtown core of Halifax and let me tell you, the bed and pillows were absolutely terrible but here the bed was so much more comfortable and the pillows were so much more comfortable. Everybody, the entire family got so much better of rest at this hotel. The kids were a little disappointed that the pool was out of service but we took them to the arcade instead and they had a wonderful time. Not only that but the breakfast being included at the lovely restaurant that they have on site was very very nice. The other more higher scale hotel that we stayed at not only did not offer a free breakfast but the restaurant was supposed to be high class but I found it to be relatively mediocre at best.

We've stayed at many hotels throughout our travels and a couple of Best Western hotels. This is definitely a diamond in the rough. It is a relatively unassuming Hotel on the outside but is warm and friendly on the inside and has wonderful friendly staff

What a wonderful experience! The staff were kind, the rooms were clean, if you get an even numbered room on the upper floors you have a beautiful view of the little lake behind the hotel…916 was the best! No loud noise in the hallways so we had a wonderful sleep. The free breakfast was nice, and the atmosphere was inviting and calm. There is a ground level wing that backs onto the lake which is pet friendly so your pets will enjoy the area as well. The smallest point I could pick at is the parking spaces are a bit tight but that’s why we have 360 cameras now 😊 it’s a quiet oasis in the middle of the city, and you are close to everything; we highly recommend this hotel!!

We had a great stay here! Prior to our trip I had called and requested early check-in, as we were travelling with a toddler who would need to nap. Upon arrival we were grateful to learn our stay had been previously upgraded to a suite for free.

The rooms were clean and modern, and the facilities were perfect for a budget-friendly family stay. Great on-site restaurant and continental breakfast. Will definitely be back again!

This hotel has everything you need, rooms are basic, but clean and beds are comfortable. Pool, good breakfast, decent restaurant right inside of it for dinner, even an arcade room! It's our second time here, and had a really good service each time.

Checked in on a Friday night with a big dog ($50 damage deposit added) and he had to go out many times in the night (stress) so explored the property. Staff exceptionally nice, best rooms/beds ever, highly recommend. Checked out Sunday and received damage deposit back Monday. Highly recommend.

This hotel has an amazing arcade, I played pinball here all day and had a blast. Room was good, restaurant was great and friendly servers. I will be back to vacation at the hotel, and by that I mean the hotel is the destination.

Great hotel, beautiful views of the lake, and Halifax skyline, friendly staff. Nice when you don't to stay in the heart of downtown but still be just a close drive from the centre. You have a beautiful location on a lake overlooking the skyline.

My husband & I stayed at the Chocolate Lake Hotel in June of 2022 and loved the view and great service! We had excellent service by Alyssa, Grace & Shaz, Front Desk, Brandon, Bar and Cullen, GSM. The food at the restaurant was also great! Kudos to the chef. Visitors from Winnipeg

Tonight we ordered chicken nachos from the Lakeside Bar & Grill and the service was excellent! The nachos were great! Their nachos had generous toppings of everything you can image and every chip was coated with goodness! We didn’t have the chance to enjoy the patio; which has spectacular views of the lake, but that is definitely next on our list! Highly recommend checking out the Lakeside Bar & Grill!!

Stayed for 1 night for our Wedding Anniversary, booked a 1 king bed with lakeview but upon checking in, they upgraded our room into a suite for no additional fee! Staffs are amazing, place is very quiet and peaceful. Room is very clean, well maintained and smells so good! I know where to book now for our future staycations in Halifax!

It was great place to stay ..but I have to admit we were waiting for a pretty long time after ordering our dinner.

But the food was great.

This was the best experience I have had with a hotel and its service. The restaurant in the lobby was amazing. The cook on this evening was amazing with his new Jalapeño burger.

Used points redemption for our stay at Chocolate Lake Hotel. Location and views are amazing. We got lake view room on top floor. Breakfast is excellent. Will be coming back.

Our particular room could use some updating but it was comfortable and the hotel is in a great location if you have a vehicle and want to stay away from the downtown (and have easy access to it for site seeing). The staff and customer service were top notch and the included breakfast was better than I expected.

Tania and Anthony at the front desk were lovely. My stay was the last week of July for 5 nights and they made us feel so welcome the entire time. Highly recommend

For places like this, I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Stayed there for 3 nights. Queen-size room with the view of the lake - very peaceful break I had. Room was very clean and spacious.
Staff is excellent too. Very helpful and always eager to sort out things. Breakfast was great too. I have recently turned vegetarian so I am still finding it difficult sometimes but there were ample options for me there. I am already thinking of going back there again next year (summers may be).

Traveled for medical appointments for several weeks and every time I stayed at the Chocolate Lake Best Western, I was extremely pleased with the service I received and the quality of the facilities. The only inconveniences I experienced while staying at the hotel were self-inflicted but that didn't stop the staff from going above and beyond to help me solve my issues. There is a little shop where you can buy anything you may have forgotten, the staff is friendly and competent, there is a nice atmosphere at the bar, the restaurant offers large portions, awesome for sharing. The breakfast is satisfying, and the hotel is centrally located, close to the Halifax Shopping Center. Finally, the price is very reasonable, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a comfortable stay.

Great hotel. Clean and quiet. Breakfast is amazing but don't sleep in it gets packed fast. Go across the lake for a swim the pool sucked in comparison to the beach.
