Sobeys Queen Street

This Sobeys is second to none! Granted, when your closest competition is superstore or the dumpster outside it’s a pretty low bar to clear. I was excited to find their cases of nectarines with only one fully rotten package of fruit sitting front and centre - blue fuzz and all. It’s super comforting knowing the store values quality over quantity as I’m sure the nectarines covered in mold were specifically packaged to boost some poor soul’s immune system because why else would they leave that sitting there for who knows how long?

p.s. I’m not talking one or two spots of mold I’m saying these nectarines were covered bottom to top in green/blue fuzz. Certainly not the colour or texture of a naturally grown nectarine. Delicious.

A variety of groceries available!

This Sobeys is a great, clean store to shop. It's not a huge store. However, it is big enough to have the items you need. It is usually always well stocked with the items on sale I the flyer. It has self checkout, though it also offers you to be able to go to a regular checkout for those of us who don't like the self check out system, or you just want to be in and out of the store after a long day, etc. The cashiers do not make you feel as though your being a nuisance for using their services as I find this with some other places. Their employees are always smiling and greet you nicely. The way the store is set up can be somewhat overwhelming if it's your first or second time there, though you will catch on quickly and remember what items are located where. They also have a smoke shop outside the front doors in a separate little shop for those who also need to make a purchase there.

I would say the renovation is quite successful. Yes the prices still tend to be higher than Superstore on Barrington but with plenty of discounts and the new nicely appointed interior space Sobeys can lure customers away from its main rival in the area.

Friendly staff, always clean when I visit, and has quiet hours where the announcements and radio dont play or are tured down. Rarely out of the things I need. Good deals. Student discounts on Tuesdays.

Amazing new Sobeys - bright... manageable.. friendly staff.. clean and full of new stuff!

Sandwiches and salads that are out rarely look fresh - very disappointing but understandable.
Still love this Sobeys!

One of the best Sobey's in the peninsula. Has everything you'll need. Recently visited and the store is under construction but you're still able to shop. The reno's inside look great, and I cannot wait to see what it looks like when it's completed. I've never had a bad experience in this store.

Update - Covid has impacted wait time in line, which is maybe 3-5 minutes now depending on time of day. Still the best around.
For its size its the best little grocery store around. I started going there in 1994. Often you'll be the first one in line, usually has parking close to the entrance, selection is better than I expect for the size, there are no funky smells in the meat department, and staff on the floor are always smiling and happy to be of service. No attached liquor store but there is one on the other side of the parking lot. There are often heavily discounted meals and sides in the glass case about 50' inside the main entrance, slightly to the right. Update - still very modest but international foods section seems to be growing along with increasing foreign student population.

Haven't been here in over a year, all I can say is WOW what a change! They are more organized, more grocery items to choose from,. Always loved this store and the staff....as they are friendly willing to help find a product and very efficient.

As always they have great prices on meal plans or just food in general. Plus if you're a person to save on discount or bonuses you'll love the air miles bonus you receive while shopping there. Go check them out!

Excellent customer service was provided by a gentleman helping me find Kicking Horse Ice Coffee can drink. I felt he went out of his way went above & beyond to assist finding it. Friendly and knowledgeable staff member to compliment sobeys. Would make me differently come back to this location.

Well organized store with a great selection of international and kosher foods. Staff is very friendly knowledgeable and helpful. Rhe floral department is particularly nice. The butcher has an extensive selection including whole briskets.

Honestly I used to detest this Sobeys, but after the renos I actually go out of my way to shop here. Still a bit small, but it has a fantastic layout, and there is a lot of variety for such a small store

The only change I wish they would make would be to extend their hours, since I sometimes only have have time to shop late at night and theres no option to get groceries at 11pm in the south end

Great first time in and the staff is very nice and knowledgeable .they helped me find everything in Jig time.
