Purvis Fish & Chips

We dropped in an hour before closing with a large group. It was all good. Food showed up soon enough. It’s an interesting atmosphere with post and beam, with a great view from the balcony. The fish tacos were great, although a little small, with a generous portion of fries.

One of the bathrooms was out of order, which created a line up. The location of the washrooms being so close to the dining area is a little unappetizing.

At peak hour, we only had to wait 25 to 30 minutes for our food which was relatively large order. The portion sizes were really good. The fries are easily the best on the island. The fish burger and the chicken burger were both amazing and are highly recommended.

Our serving staff, were kind, super polite, and very patient as we were trying to figure out our order.
The views from the patio were spectacular and overall, it was a great experience.

The fish in the fish ‘n chips is incredibly fresh and DELICIOUS!
The chippers are also a nice add on if you have kids with you.
A variety of tartar sauces that all add a nice twist to your experience.
We will definitely be back for more.

The food was fantastic! My partner and I got the fish & chips and chicken fingers & fries. All of the food was delicious. We came on a Tuesday in late August & the place was packed. It was obvious they were crazy busy, but the entire staff was super friendly, helpful & working extremely hard to get everyone fed. Highly recommend stopping in here for food!

Great meal! Constructive criticism, empty garbages and give sinage as to direction of ordering. Saw you take care of a mistake ( plain fish burger) and clearly in my opinion, staff is capable 😉 Very nautical and beautiful views. I truly will recommend and I will visit again.

Absolutely fresh, & absolutely delicious. Fish tacos wrapped in a soft, delicate taco. Fresh mango salsa. It was a REVELATION. My first fish tacos I've ever tried & I'm hooked. Great customer service, as well. Best fish place in Gore Bay!

Menu options have tripled but same amazing quality and service. My favourite restaurant on Manitoulin Island.

We were driving through Manitoulin looking for local art and clothes and a few locals recommended Purvis so when a few local people say go here…you know you got to. Purvis did not disappoint. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and view of the water is amazing while eating your food. We ordered the fish and chips and fish bites. The batter was crispy and did not take away from the fish. The fish was tender and flaky and not too oily. It was perfect. Highly recommend if you’re in the area. Even if you not, you need to make the trip out here.

Great local spot! The desserts they added this year are awesome, give the funnel cake fries a go for sure! I love their tacos, you just can't be afraid to get a little messy though. Their wing nights on Wednesdays (4-8) are also a family favourite of ours.

Food was great and service was really friendly and amazingly fast. Views are incredible.

This was the best fish and chips we can remember, and we have eaten them many times. The portions were generous and the batter was light, contributing to the deliciously fresh, and thick fillets. The fries were thick cut and there was no after taste at all from the meal. The fresh slaw and home made tartar sauce were nice accents. We liked it so much we went back for more the next day.

Excellent menu, food and beverage wise. Everything tasted great. Scenery can't be beat.

Honestly it is the best fish and chips I have had. They have a great thing going and the staff were really sweet. This is what gore bay needed- a good fish and chips place with friendly service. I like that the menu is simple- fish and chips- you know it’s fresh.

Really enjoyed wing night here on Wednesdays! We tried 6 different flavours and loved them all...maple bacon dry ruh was a surprise winner for us all! Will be back in a few weeks I'm sure! Alcohol being served is a nice addition😎

This fish and chip place will become a lasting icon on gore bays waterfront. I’m so proud of the initiative and it makes so much sense that the next generation does net to table. The fish was excellent and the dill tartar sauce was superb. Nice to get real hot fries. Thankyou Avery. Oh and great staff.
