Hastings House Country House Hotel

Hastings House was a magical stay for us. Their service is top notch and personalized. We stayed for our anniversary in late may and got to experience the beautiful spring weather and flowers. The room was charming, so comfortable and had absolutely everything we needed. The meals and drinks were superb. If I had to choose a favorite element it would be the grounds and gardens. It feels a world away. I hope to return soon!

We stayed at the post house at this lovely resort, located right on the water. The view from the restaurant and lounge is fantastic, food was excellent, and servers were very friendly. We would definitely return next time. We are on the island.

Amazing property and rooms with great staff and engaging management team. The service was top notch at the front desk and dining room. We met the General Manager, Alan Lawley upon check-in who was very gracious and helpful. We also had an amazing Spa experience with Johanna. We also enjoyed the wonderful grounds and garden staff, very knowable. We certainly will be back in the summer.

We recently had dinner in the restaurant which has lovely views over the harbour and gardens which looked stunning in the evening light. The food was delicious and the service absolutely on point. I had oysters and the Sunday Special of rib roast and Yorkshire pudding which was exceptional. They also feature wine from a local vineyard. Just one request on behalf of us oldies - a handrail in some places along the path to the dining room would be very helpful (although I appreciate there is a short cut through a back door to the car park).

We stayed for two nights in June. We were in "Hawthorne." Loved the bath tub and our bed was so comfortable. Breakfasts were a great bonus and the grounds were beautiful. We saw quails, rabbits and deer! All staff we interacted with was lovely - but I'd like to extend a special thanks to Alan for being such a great host.

The rooms and decorations are very cozy, with each family having their own small villa, providing a private atmosphere. The hotel's courtyard, located by the seaside, offers breathtaking views. The hotel also boasts a top-notch restaurant that serves delicious cuisine. Additionally, there is an option to hire a private driver at the hotel to explore Salt Spring Island.

This property is far from the humdrum of bustling city life , yet there are plenty of outdoor pursuits to be enjoyed that are close to it. We were there in April to celebrate our wedding anniversary and I cannot praise this idyllic retreat highly enough! This place has beautiful settings and lovely views from the Farm West suites where we stayed. The staff had arranged for a special table for our anniversary dinner and the culinary experience was memorable. This property is ideal for those looking for peace. I loved the cozy suite with its floral prints and wooden furniture. It was open and airy and had a rustic and whimsical look. Fresh muffins were delivered to the door every morning. I liked the selection of teas in our room. Everything was extremely pleasing, including the attentive service.

I was so lucky to have been invited for a two night stay at the charming Hastings House. The moment I set foot on the beautiful grounds, I felt serene and comfortable. Each room is unique and personalized with our name at our door. As well, it was so inviting to be greeted by fresh flowers in the room and an adorable homemade sheep on the night table. We enjoyed walking the beautiful grounds, enjoying views of the calming ocean, as well as exploring the farm, feeding the sheep, and even tasting a cherry tomato and strawberry from the greenhouse.

Although we fully enjoyed the filling daily breakfast at the Manor, we were more charmed by the simple but delicious fresh baked warm muffins outside the door every morning (yes, a different flavour each day) - such a personal touch.

As well, I cannot say enough good things about the wonderful and warm staff at Hastings House. In particular, Alan the general manager was very hospitable and inviting, as well as generous and helpful. You can see that he truly cares about his guests.

Finally, the location is truly ideal. It’s a short walking distance into town, and very close to the ferry harbour. I cannot stop raving about how truly memorable and unforgettable my stay was. I’m thankful to have had this experience.

We came here for dinner to celebrate our 8th Anniversary. Well from the moment we got in, we felt very welcomed, relaxed, but still in a fancy environment. Our needs and top class meal service were met by Marcus so well and professional. The chef made sure of all my allergies plus delivering delicious tastes with every bite. We had the Artichoke Feta Ravioli and Pork Tenderloin schnitzel! Then the host Garret made us a fire in the front lobby hearth to sit and enjoy our tea after dessert! Very kind and personable staff. Will be coming back for sure! Thanks everyone for a memorable dinner.

Wow, the “rooms” are actually entire cabins. This is a fantastic spot to spend a few days on Salt Spring Island. Very quiet, private, and beautiful. The staff is amazing, especially the waiters, and the food is delicious.

We had dinner here one night and it was really beautiful. We sat outside for a drink and enjoyed the landscaping and views of the harbor. Then we went inside the dining room to eat and sat by beautiful doors that were cracked open. We felt very pampered by the waiter and enjoyed the two dishes we tried. It’s splurgy but if you’re looking for a special meal/experience it’s totally worth it.

A very exceptional dining experience. We were lucky enough to dine at Hastings House before the season ended. A good selection of cocktails, local beers and wines.

The oysters and mignonette were an amazing way to start our meal.

The Belgian endive, blue cheese, and pecan salad was rich and delicious and balanced nicely with a balsamic vinegar reduction.

This was my first time eating spätzle in a restaurant and it was seasoned exceptionally well. The mushroom sauce paired nicely with the roasted vegetables and pork schnitzel.

Probably our favourite dish of the night, the pan seared scallops and Caesar salad. The croutons were very crunchy and the scallops were seared beautifully.

Ending the night with their chocolate creme brûlée and Halloween fireworks show was quite the finale.

I can't speak highly enough about the Hastings. The moment you step on the property you enter a different world: tranquil, beautiful and relaxed. The grounds and gardens are well maintained, the rooms are gorgeous with the old English feel (but don't think they are old as I did when looking at the pictures on the website :)) they are not. We stayed at the west farmhouse (party of 4) and it was one of the most convenient and well appointed rooms we've ever stayed in.

The dinners at the restaurant were fantastic ( we even brought our catch of the day and the chef made absolutely stunning and delicious meals out of it!). The service was very professional and friendly (thank you Garet and the lovely fellow who served us on our first night :))

Breakfasts are complimentary with the selection of eggs based dishes,specials of the day or yogurt with fruits and granola.

GM Alan was a pleasure to chat with on our day of the arrival as well as the staff at the reception desk that gave some cool recommendations on what to do in the area that only locals would know :) (thanks Joshua!)

The town is just a couple of minutes away driving if you feel like getting a coffee or a meal outside of the property (delicious and healthy as well!).

Ps: no lunch available at the property, but it wasn't a problem at all with lots of other options available in town close by.
PPS: we loved the place so much that we've extended our stay there by a day as they had our room available for one more night.

We recently stayed for one week at Hastings House. There were four of us and we rented the Farmhouse West. From the moment we got there to the moment we left, we were relaxed and treated like friends. All of the staff was amazing, from the front desk to the spa, to the dining room. Huge shout out to Monty, the dining room manager, as he went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. He spent lots of time with us each night in conversation and made sure we were comfortable in the dining room due to the situation with Covid. Monty even gave us our own private table in an alternate dining area! The accommodations were clean, comfortable and modern. The food and service were top notch. In the morning, the staff went out of their way to top up my plate with plenty of bacon and the presentation of dinners, desert, etc were fabulous. The flavor of the food blended beautifuly with the veggies, most of which were sourced and grown on site in their private garden. We had beautiful weather for a few days and were able to visit the local market. Hastings is very close to lots of shops and stores and we enjoyed walks and hikes on the island. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back again. Kudos and thank you to all the staff who made our stay enjoyable and memorable. Hastings House is highly recommended!

I had dinner and dessert at this beautiful establishment last night. I have significant food allergies and the waiter and chef were diligent to ensure that I would have no issues with my meal. It was exquisite! By far the best meal I have experienced in Salt Spring Island

Our original wedding venue closed due to COVID, so we decided to have our wedding at Hastings House and I’m so glad we did. Everything was absolute perfection. Alan, Sharon, Leah and staff provided exceptional and outstanding customer service. We stayed in the post cottage and our families stayed in the lower Barn suites and all the rooms are so unique, quaint and had a rustic appeal to them. The gardens are to die for and the fresh muffins in the morning, along with a beautiful breakfast at the Manor House was outstanding. The resort far exceeded our expectations in every way possible. They made our special day that much more unforgettable. 10/10 would recommend this resort to anyone. We’ve stayed at multiple Relais & Chateaux properties and I can tell you that Hastings House definitely upholds the stature and quality of the brand. Thank you so much for the amazing stay and we hope to be back soon!

Gorgeous, unreal and unique gem in the Island. Supper friendly staff and exceptional customer service. I was surprised by well thought service design in Hastings House. Personal touches from name tag on your room, and on a gorgeous welcome letter in the room makes you feel special. Warm fresh muffin behind the door every morning reminded me of my childhood when my grandma prepared breakfast and waited for me to wake up.
Foods are high quality farm to table decorated with colorful flowers so beautifully that you feel you're in animation.

I have never stayed in such a remarkable setting - very magical. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food is delicious and the view from the dining room is spectacular. I will come back again. Worth every penny!

1000% recommend. How I’ve never heard of this hidden gem in all my years in BC is a mystery. It’s a luxury experience with luxury service. Personal touches (your name on the door), warm muffins in a basket outside your door in the morning, and a vegetable garden that gardeners would die for. We reserved the Harvest Dinner and had the best farm-to-table meal ever. Best lamb we’ve ever tasted. The breakfast was phenomenal as well. Gorgeous property that we can’t wait to bring our families to. (Hastings House is a Relais & Chateaux property, which gives you an idea of the calibre).
