The Applied Arts Illustration program is one of the best I have attended. As a "mature" student I have been able to dig deeper into illustrative techniques and methods, and focus on the work I want to do. I have gained the confidence to pursue a career in picture books as well as other areas I didn't even know about before.
Adam Moore is a highly gifted instructor and illustrator, (as well as a great human being). His passion and experience is evident in every lesson and assignment.
Since the course is an intensive, fast paced program, where you will be continuously working on assignments, I suggest that you have the time to invest in order to get the most out of the program.
Also, having the flexibility to attend in person and online was a huge advantage and very doable.

As an HCA student. I definitely recommend this school to other students, I can say that this school has been nothing but supportive and helpful to me. Mrs. Laura was my teacher and she always pushes you to do what you need to do, she was always supportive and helpful teacher as well. I love that this school has always made me feel safe and comfortable, it definitely taught me a lot.

The school has an excellent Applied Arts Illustration program! The teacher, Adam Moore, is excellent at communicating the lessons and homework as well as being an incredibly talented illustrator. I feel I've grown significantly as an artist in the last year while attending this course and am excited to progress into a career as an illustrator. I would definitely recommend this program to any artists looking to make the jump into illustration as a full-time career.

We’re nearing the end of our 1 year intensive applied illustration program and as a way to procrastinate working on my final thesis project, I thought I’d leave a review.
I am a mature student coming from a fine arts background and was looking for a program that addressed the practical aspects of being an illustrator. This program covers the business side of illustration - copyright laws, contracts, fees, professional communication, meeting deadlines and the general expectations of various avenues of illustration work. It also introduces many of the most commonly used methods and mediums of creating professional illustration including pen and ink, watercolour, acrylic, and digital. The course gives foundational instruction and practice in illustration techniques which offer a jumping off point from which a student can practice and perfect their craft.
Adam is an excellent instructor who gives practical and fair critiques which help you move towards clear communication through illustration. At the same time he is supportive and helpful in dealing with an artistic temperament and offers a safe place for self expression through your work.

My review is directed towards the Illustration course, as thats where my experience comes from. I started in their first Illustration course in 2022

With the entire course being stuck into 1 year, it has been a LOT of work crammed into this time, with some topics not getting (in my opinion) the coverage they deserve.
However, the amount of topics covered, no mater how brief, has been wonderful in opening up different avenues for students to do their own research, and makes up for the lack of in depth talk available in class.
Adam (Illustration teacher) is a wonderful artist who's been nothing but amazing when it comes to teaching the topics covered in class; his appreciation for all forms of art is apparent in how he teaches.

Overall, I'd recommend the Illustration course to anyone whos able to handle the amount of work required. With the flexibility of Online and in person it relieves some of the stress of travel.
The new location(while small) is also located in a beautiful spot with some wonderful locations for life drawing/getting some fresh air.

I’m a student in the Illustration and Graphic Design program. It’s definitely more illustration than graphic design (which is why I picked it).

The staff are friendly and responsive. Our teacher works in the industry and is very knowledgeable.

I picked the program on instinct and it’s paid off. I’ve learned a lot since starting last October.

This school has a 1 year illustration program that both teaches art skills, but also the skills needed to market your skills to earn money.
Adam Moore is a really good teacher who knows what he's talking about and makes this program worth taking.

Took the Illustration course here, very fun, Adam is a great teacher and the students are all very nice.
My only problem is where it is, I'd have to take a 2 hour bus ride there and another 2 hour bus ride back home daily if it wasn't for me being able to attend online.

I've learnt a good amount of skills here at Edison, and the staff who work there are very friendly.

Don't waste your time attending here. Most instructors that they hire are inexperienced. They are selecting students who don't even pass admission requirements just for the sake of getting money from them. Save your time and go to other schools instead.
