Wilder Restoration LTD

We hired Wilder to get rid of our rectangle lawn and ‘rewild’ our space. They did an amazing job—both helping us through our first time working with landscapers and dreaming up our wild space. They were very knowledgeable about local plants, what would make for a great space, and how to get to what we wanted! On top of that, Wilder was able to help us find someone to install a gravel pad for a hot tub and get even more out of our space. If you’re tired of mowing and want to get a natural space, just like the lovely setting around the island, I can’t recommend them enough!

From start to finish, the team at Wilder Restorations have been fantastic. We worked with them over the better part of a year to conceptualize, plan and implement the different phases of our yard transformation. In the latest phase we have just replaced our old, tired and thirsty lawn with drought-tolerant local plants, micro clover and what should be a beautiful meadow once Spring arrives. Their concern for and knowledge of the local ecology was evident and they get top marks for creating a beautiful and sustainable landscape for us.

So impressed with Wilder Restoration! Emma and Sierra helped us out with removing some tenacious, 20 year+ old invasive ivy and they really got stuck in and did an amazing job freeing up our yard and rescuing at-risk plants. They had some great recommendations for aftercare too. With just a quick minute talking to them about a noise problem I have, they had some great ideas for a future project to create a sound barrier with landscaping too; very knowledgeable. Looking forward to connecting with them over the years to make our native plant landscaping dream a reality!

I love my "wilder" garden that is abuzz with bees, butterflies and birds. My project was massive (just under a quarter acre) and Emma and Sierra designed distinct areas that are as beautiful as they are useful. My lawns were replaced with draught resistant no mow lawn alternative and native wild flowers meadows. We sold the lawn mower and reclaimed the hammock! Flower beds were infused with native flowers and herbs. A tricky rock garden (read deer super hi-way) is now a native flower garden. Native berries and Nootka roses line a fence. In our forest they planted native shrubs. A new garden path winds through the once lawn. The transformation has been incredible and it just keeps getting better.

Wilder Restoration is a rare gem. My garden is vibrant, draught hardy, pollinator friendly and lazy friendly! I believe small changes (a single residential garden) can make a positive impact.

We own a home in Esquimalt and after being posted away for a few years, returned to find both the front and back yards seriously overtaken with "running" bamboo, periwinkle, and serval other invasive plants. Eradication was not going to be a small or easy job.

We took our time researching companies as it was important they share our ideals and environmental responsibility -- not just pull the "weeds", but look to control them and the long-term health of the gardens.

Emma and Sierra are extremely knowledgeable and while listening to us, they also educated us on different plants and the best path forward. They provided an accurate, fair quote, honoured it, and their work was excellent. The invasives were removed and the gardens opened up with pruning and new ground cover.
