Some old world charm that has been kept in immaculate condition. Amazing service and communication from the staff. While I wasn't able to stay in the area long, upon seeing the view, I knew I'd be 20 minutes later than scheduled.

We loved our stay at the Hotel Terrasse Dufferin. The location is incredible just steps away from a toboggan ride and the St Lawrence River. We came for Carnaval and it was so easy to walk to the venues.

Everything was very clean, housekeeping was provided to us every day, alongside a complementary snack/drink stash (an amazing extra that made breakfast so easy). Service overall was amazing.

Also the option to be able to store luggage on check out to explore the area a little more before leaving.

Only thing to note is that the building is old, so there were loud creaks at night, but we just used earplugs and were fine.

If you’re looking to stay in Quebec City for the Winter Carnaval or just for some sightseeing, this old gal is the place for you!!!

This is hands down the best hotel I’ve stayed in. It feels so cozy and welcoming and not to mention the historical aspect. Its over 180 years old and is so well maintained and just beautiful on the inside and out. It’s right beside the Fairmont and the boardwalk with the 1884 Dufferin Snow/ice slide not even a 2 minute walk away. It’s also a good walking distance from so many restaurants, shops, transit, and the ferry to Lévis! The staff are so charming, friendly and knowledgeable, they’re above and beyond!

I couldn’t recommend this hotel more! If you’re lucky enough to read this before booking your stay, I highly urge you experience this quaint, great value, stunning hotel.

My 13 year old daughter and I had a very happy time in Québec city, and staying at Hotel Terrasse Dufferin. The young owner who I met (1/2 of a couple), was très sympathique, the old hotel is full of elegant antique charm, very clean, excellent location, with gorgeous view right in front.
Merci Amélie 🙂
Au plaisir de se revoir

We really enjoyed our stay at the hôtel Terrasse Dufferin. We had such an outstanding view on the St-Lauwrence river and the Château Frontenac. The experience of old quebec city was enhanced by the historical cachet of the hotel and the room. Beds were really confortable, the room super clean and quiet. We had excellent services from the frontdesk. The location was also perfect to go explore the most attractives spots of the city by walk and very close to a lot of restaurants. I recommend 100%

Terrasse Dufferin is a charming family hotel nestled by the Saint Lawrence River, just a stone's throw away from the iconic Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. This historic gem, dating back to 1880, offers an enchanting blend of old-world charm and modern comfort.

Our stay at Terrasse Dufferin was nothing short of delightful. The location couldn't be better, with all of Quebec City's attractions within easy reach. Whether you want to explore the quaint streets of Old Quebec or savor the breathtaking river views from the hotel's terraces, you're in for a treat.

What truly made our stay special was the warm and welcoming atmosphere created by the owner's daughter, who fluently speaks English. Her genuine hospitality and knowledge of the area added an extra layer of comfort and convenience to our visit. The rooms were cozy and tastefully decorated, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing retreat after a day of exploring.

Terrasse Dufferin is more than just a hotel; it's a gateway to the heart of Quebec City. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, and we can't wait to return. If you're looking for a home away from home with a touch of history and a dash of hospitality, this is the place to be.

This is a lovely hotel. It's spotlessly clean, very comfortable and in a great location.

It's a building with history, it's quirky and if you like lifts, huge uniform rooms with gadgets and 24-hour service, then this definitely isn't for you.

The whole hotel gives off an aura of someone being very proud of it and loving it for what it is.

If you don't go into this hotel stay thinking you're booking somewhere with a marble shower, elevator, chic lobby bar etc., you will be thrilled. This isn't your Instagram hotel. If you want to stay in the best location at a reasonable price, this is the spot. Yes, rooms are small and dated, but who wants to spend that much time in their room on vacation anyway? The whole city is there for your recreation.

The important parts: rooms are clean, well maintained and dark at night; beds are comfortable if a bit soft (my husband prefers a hard bed but liked this one!); there is serviceable coffee in room; shower water is hot; room was sufficiently air conditioned; we checked in after 10pm and a key was waiting for us in the lock box (customer service texted with me which was super easy).

I would stay here again in a second. Our room was on the top floor which might be hard for some people (the front door of the hotel isn't accessible so this place isn't an option at all for people with mobility devices) but I'm 7 months pregnant and managed it. There are little chairs on every landing so you can have a rest between flights 😊. We didn't have a view but looked out the window of a riverview room and it was gorgeous!

The location is wonderful, the people are nice, rooms are clean. We asked for a room on the 1st floor because we are older & didn't want the stairs. We had room #2 & it was wonderful. This is a 100+ year old building, so if you want something new & Shiney, this is not for you. We loved it!

Great Location and views of the St. Lawrence and the promenade. The hotel itself is a little old and a little tired, but so what, who goes to Quebec to sit in their room! The service is super friendly and helpful, and the money we saved staying here, we spent on fine wine and dining! Had a great time over the Canada day long weekend, would stay here again in a heart beat!

Best hotel in Quebec. The whole stay was well worth the money. Hotel is clean and comfy. Staff is very polite and helpful (especially the lady at the reception). They let us keep our bags near the reception after the check out, so we could roam around the city and come take our bags at a later time. Everything is easily accessible from this place. They provide a $4 breakfast order and that’s filling for the price. Our entire experience was great, will definitely return here the next time we visit Quebec City. I will highly recommend this to anyone looking a place with great atmosphere, staff and location. Thanks!!

(Stayed in July 2019)
My wife and I had a lovely 3 night stay here. The hotel is right on the Terrasse Dufferin as the name would suggest and just along from the Fairmont.
The room is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is also available but has to be ordered the day before for a fee.
The hotel also has a deal with the Fairmont that allows guests to use the pool and spa area (for a fee) which we used 1 afternoon. The hotel is also situated beside a quiet park that is nice to sit in with a picnic, a book or just to watch the world go by.

Beautiful old hotel. Lots of charm and helpful friendly staff. Yes you have to carry your bags up stairs, but staff is willing to help. Our room for 3 was comfy. Great view facing the Dufferin Terrace. Greatest location. steps away form the fenicular. Very close to the Chateau Frontenac. You can indulge in the Chateau's spa ammenities for $15 I believe. Situated directly between upper and lower town. Breakfast are $4 extra. We slept well despite the double size beds. Old hotels have trouble accomodating Queen beds. If you have a XL or bigger person in your group, keep this into consideration.

For the location and the Victorian architecture, the price is a steal. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Located right next to Le Château Frontenac, we could go to all famous places in old Quebec by walking. I was particularly moved by the hospitality of the staffs. Katrin was kind enough to help us even after the checkout. Will be the first place to consider if I decide to visit Quebec again.

We arrived at Hotel Terrasse Dufferin and WOW what an awesome surprise. We were greeted by Amélie, who instantly made us feel welcome and like we were the most important guests ever! The hotel in our opinion is perfectly situated right near the Chateau with views of the river. Our room was also great we couldn’t fault it, large and very comfortable. We originally booked for 2 and stayed for 5 nights.

Amélie and Simon have only taken over the hotel recently, we wish them the very best in their new venture with all the plans for improvements they have and are positive they will be extremely successful. We will be back!!

Stayed at the Hotel Terrasse Dufferin for 3 nights. The hotel is in a historic building meaning it is fill of tradational charm. However if you love the ultra modern this is not your hotel. For amenities each room has WiFi, a tub and shower a desk tv and bed. The wifi worked well, the tv seemed to work well. Rooms are all alittle different so bathroom and view may change. Our room had a view of the terrasse and river to die for.
When we arrived we where greeted at the desk by a knowledgeable young man he explained the parking to us and recommended some excellent restaurants. Check out went just as smoothly. The big pros for this hotel are views and location. The air conditioning leaves something to be improved upon but all and all this is a fantastic hotel I would recommend to any couple looking for a romantic get away.
