Haida Gold Ocean Adventures

Our fishing excursion with Captain Mike of Haida Gold did not disappoint. While we originally booked a day-time Secret Cove trip, we knew the weather in the strait might not cooperate this late into September. So Kristi and Mike quickly adapted our trip to a fishing excursion. My husband and I, along with our two guests, took off on a gorgeous morning on the last day of summer. While on the boat, we had an amazing time both chatting with Captain Mike and hooking our catch. This was my first time fishing (add that to my “50” bucket list!) and I was just thrilled to reel in a great looking coho. Others on the boat enjoyed similar success!
After four hours of fishing adventure and learning so many new things about the area, Captain Mike expertly steered us back to shore through what we knew might be a choppy ride home. Once at the dock, our fish were cleaned and filleted for us, allowing us to enjoy our bounty for dinner, with enough to freeze for the winter.

Thank you Haida Gold and Captain Mike for a glorious morning on the water! Cannot wait to go out again next year, earlier in the season, for our Secret Cove trip!! ❤

Our kids surprised us with the most stunning Sunset Cruise last summer.
We knew we needed to get back out on the water, so this year we booked a day cruise to Jedediah island. We walked til our feet hurt, exploring most of the island. We ate our lunch out on a cliff overlooking the Salish Sea.
And I believe we made it to each little hidden beach as well as the old Homestead.
Jedediah is such a Gem that has been preserved for future generations to enjoy and explore!
We are hoping to go back one day and camp overnight, to sleep under the stars.

A TRULY MEMORABLE DAY ON HAIDA GOLD!

Our Jedediah cruise surpassed all expectations! Captain Mike was an exceptional skipper and delightful host, and he catered perfectly to our wishes. With three couples on board, he chose the most comfortable route for the journey across the Salish Sea in a little over an hour which allowed us plenty of time to discover the natural beauty and history of this remarkable island. One of our party stayed onboard with Mike and together they circumnavigated Jedediah while we explored Paradise on foot. Back on board, we shared our picnic lunch in the spacious enclosed cockpit - the galley is equipped with all the necessary plates and utensils - before heading back across the Strait. The whole trip took us six hours as promised and the weather was brilliant (no doubt also part of the service!). Thank you, Mike & Kristi, for a superb and unforgettable experience on your beautiful boat.

We had an amazing time with Captain Mike- his boat was super comfortable and he was incredibly knowledgeable and easy to chat with. We went on the "night bite" and were not disappointed! We got to reel in lots of Chinook and a rockfish- we also saw seals and a bald eagle as it followed the boat. My kids really had a fabulous time! We wouldn't hesitate to book again with Haida Gold... Mike and his wife Kristi run a very professional service, are excellent communicators, and truly went above and beyond to give us a great experience! Wonderful from start to finish :)

So grateful for our experience with Haida Gold. Kristi kept in contact with us on some questionable weather days to make sure we had a great day to head out. We had a beautiful day out with Captain Mike with our two sons, age 10 and 12. Mike was great with our fishing obsessed son. He was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and we caught lots of beautiful fish. Couldn't have asked for a better day.

An absolutely beautiful excursion my wife and I had with Captain Mike at Haida Gold Ocean Adventures. The sunset was spectacular and seemed to last forever. Mike is a fantastic host, we would recommend the Sunset tour for any occasion. We will definitely be heading out again, maybe for some early Salmon fishing or the Picnic tour. It doesn't get any better than this. Thank you Captain Mike.

I was blown away by this wonderful team ! So welcoming and so kind and thoughtful . Kristi thought of all the special touches for my sunset cruise with a friend . Captain Mike advised for the best night possible - flat calm water and a gorgeous sunny day which turned into a stunning sunset. I was impressed by the added safety measures taken and explained from the moment I arrived to the moment we docked. I greatly appreciated the warm cozy blankets for when it cooled off , and also enjoyed the fun playlist of music . It was genuinely one of the best evenings I’ve ever spent. So whether you want to go fishing or enjoy watching marine life playing - or just simply soak in the late afternoon sun, Haida Gold is who you want to cruise away with . I can hardly wait for another opportunity!!!

Wonderful day out with Captain Mike and Haida Gold. The Captain is a great teacher, story teller and knows the areas to fish. The boat is really comfortable and safe. This was our first time fishing deep water and Captain Mike made it the best experience ever.. We highly and I mean very highly recommend Haida Gold out of Schooner Cove. There are accommodations right at the Marina in Schooner cove so a 6:45am start is no problem.Along with fishing we got to see porpoise’s, Orca, and seals. What a day.

Spent the morning with Haida Gold Ocean Adventures Captain Mike Bellis. Had us on a nice Chinook in the first 15 minutes.

Mike was a pro-guide and a wealth of knowledge on water. He was also very personable, profesional, and a great conversationalist.

Mike was intent on putting us on fish and making sure we got the most put of our booking.

We were blessed with a gift as our first adventure, but that wouldn’t be our last. We absolutely loved our experience so much that we booked a second trip with our friends visiting from Denmark as we knew this would deliver on all points.
Mike and his wife exceeded our expectations with hospitality and another incredible and breathtaking trip. Preparing our guests one of which is not comfortable in the water with the knowledge and reassurance she needed. The eagles (one of our guests favorite animals) were on full display making this a trip of a life time for her.
Mike was able to once again provide a history of the area and islands, facts and knowledge was on point. We are so thankful to have been able to share the beauty of our island with others and we can’t say a big enough thank you to Haida Gold Adventures for never disappointing! Our picnic sailing was met with sun, so much wildlife, beautiful stories and the warmest welcome for our guests. I assure you the second trip is just two now of many we will take.

Last Monday six friends from
Nanoose Bay treated ourselves to a special evening on the Haida Gold with Captain Mike! We didn’t have far to travel to the marina but once we left dock we were on an adventure to remember. We had a comfortable cruise out to the islands where we dropped anchor in an idyllic little bay, toasting the sun as it slipped behind the horizon. The coastal mountains were glorious, reflecting ever-changing pastel colours until the sun had set. We definitely hope to take visitors on the Haida Gold at the next opportunity. Highly recommend this charter experience.

We had a 5 star experience with Haida Gold Ocean Adventures from the time of booking with Kristi to our sunset cruise with Captain Mike! We saw whales, a beautiful sunset and thoroughly enjoyed our time!

Terrific charter! Personable, knowledgeable guide. Ideal location to cruise islands and catch fish along the way. My out of town guest commented that the company name was wrong- it should be Haida Platinum! No guarantees of course, but we had a fish on line the first 20 minutes.

Amazing day with Mike! My two teenage kids and I met Mike at the pier bright and early today and hit the water right on time. Mike knows where the fish are! We started getting bites within 5minutes! We must have gotten over 40 bites today landing maybe 1/2 of them and keeping 5 big Coho salmon that Mike cleaned up for us. Amazing experience for my kids who have never really taken to fishing before. Thanks to Mike and Haida Gold for a great morning and life long memories.

We had a fantastic morning Salmon fishing with Haida Gold Ocean Adventures. The boat very comfortably accommodated six of us. The view across the Salish Sea with islands and snowcapped Coast Mountains added greatly to our enjoyment. Captain Mike is a competent seaman which made us feel safe. The boat is clearly well cared for, and everything was in tip top shape. Mike and Kristi offer a first rate service in a stunning location.

We spent the most incredible morning with Captain Mike. Our sons both had broken bones due to summer bike incidents: one wrist, the other collarbone. Mike found a way for both boys to fully participate in catching fish!! Such a gift! We highly recommended this gifted fisherman to take you and your family on a fishing adventure! We will be back to fish with him again!

It was our first fishing charter for my wife and I to celebrate her birthday. Captain Mike was very knowledgeable about here to catch fish and about the sea conditions to ensure it was a safe and enjoyable. We caught about +10 salmon during our 4 hours trip and kept what was allowed. We had salmon steak that night.

We both have a wonderful fishing trip and look forward to come back next year.
