What an amazing little gem. If you are reading this you MUST stop here. I’ve never in my life been to a place that does cinnamon buns like this. And we have travelled all over. We got the milk and cookies and the peanut butter cinnamon buns and they were to die for. I was shocked at the reasonable price for what you get. They are massive portions and they give so much toppings. I cannot wait to come back. There is so many items on the menu my husband and I are so excited to try. Also the place was slammed busy. It def lives up to the hype. Highly recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Stopped for lunch after visiting Cathedral Grove old growth forest.There was a lineup which I’m told is quite common. The baking selection was extraordinary and we had both lunch and take away cinnamon buns, which we had the next morning for breakfast and they were excellent. The lunch was good but the environment, not so much. It was frigid in the building such that we had to eat with our jackets on. There’s also only a very few tables in there space in a Covid like set up. Perhaps they actually don’t want people to dine in. So I would plan to do take Away.

I'm not a bakery expert, so I don't have a lot of experience to draw upon for my review. I do however feel qualified to judge the service and atmosphere of any business.

The Old Town Bakery is located atop a gently descending street, which from the vantage point of my table, allowed for the mountain skyline in the distance to open up. Very nice!

In addition to approximately 16 indoor seats, there is outdoor stone round table seating available. The bakery itself is decorated in a plain and unmemorable way, likely because the baked goods they offer are intended to "take the cake", so to speak. There is an abundance of baked choices here, suitable for parties, gifts, takeout or sit down. Not being from the area, it would take someone in my situation a lifetime to try everything and find my favorite.

I ordered the 16oz London Fog tea with a cream cheese almond bun. Not my usual breakfast fare, in fact, I rarely eat breakfast... but this bakery was recommended to me, so I drove appropriately 30 minutes to try it out.

The service was top notch. Friendly and engaging and helpful, in addition to asking me several times if I was ready to order as the order spot can be congested with no real lineup.

Overall I'm very pleased with the bakery and even as I sat, people rolled in at a steady pace which is proof positive that the Old Town Bakery is a good spot.

This is one of the best bakeries on the island by far. The food is fresh and the staff is friendly. They always make you feel like family and go out of their way to greet customers they know by name.

They are well know for their HUGE cinnamon buns and they do not disappoint. Most days though, you need to get there early to get the cinnamon buns as they do sell out. Definitely recommend this place.

We drove up here from Victoria just for the cinnamon buns and we weren’t disappointed. We only heard of this place from a random guy at another bakery, and decided to look into it. Absolutely would do it again - generously sized buns with tons of toppings. 😋

Hop tip - get there early if you want cinnamon buns. On Saturdays there are big line-ups!

Really cute bakery with incredible goods! There is a line outside of the baker for a good reason. We stopped by to try out the famous cinnamon rolls and were pleased with all of the options. The orange poppy seed buns were our favorite of the ones we tried. They also have quite a few gluten free options for various treats if looking for options. We also grabbed a Nanaimo bar which was really good!

Tasty cinnamon buns, if a touch sweet for me (I’m a buttery gooey caramelized fan). Excellent light, tender and well structured, airy dough, good filling, and maybe a little too much icing, which overwhelmed the interior of the bun. But it’s still better than most cinnamon buns. Tried the Nanaimo bar as well and it’s way better than most (their chocolate ganache topping is miles above average but still sweeter than I prefer.)

We love this bakery, well worth the drive. Must get there early to ensure that you get items that you want as it’s super busy. We got French bread, cinnamon buns, cupcakes, cookies, sourdough, banana cream tart. My daughter usually eats only the icing off of cupcakes but devoured the entire cupcake which tells me it was delicious! Highly highly recommend

Absolutely incredible!!! I had the sausage roll and the chocolate covered cream puff. Trust me when I’m telling ya, you will not be clean after eating the cream puff but you will like it and be happy. I’m so excited to have found a little bakery with quality food! Good job guys!!!

Hands down for this bakery! Absolutely perfect. Best cinnamon roll I’ve ever had in my entire life.

Peanut Butter Cream Cheese. Do I even need to say anything else?

A local staple. Our favorite treat and the same of many, many others. We enjoyed it in our years living here and when we come back to visit we always save space and indulge in our favourite items.

It’s busy, but it’s worth the wait, absolutely. The best cinnamon buns ever. The best baked goods and bread, too.

Such a delicious bakery! It was recommended to me from a friend in Victoria. It was well worth the stop. The orange poppy seed cinnamon bun was fantastic. It had a subtle hint of citrus that wasn't overpowering. Absolutely delicious! 10/10 would recommend.

I’m not typically one to write reviews but this deserves a review. Old town Bakery’s cinnamon buns are named the islands best for a reason. They are genuinely one of the best things I have ever eaten. Happy happy holidays !!

Stopped in from Nanaimo after a phone call to confirm if they had cakes available for short notice purchase. Kind, quick, smiling service, they added fresh flowers to the cake and wrote beautifully on it. Can't comment on taste yet as the cake is for tomorrow. Will update! The cake is beautiful though. was recommended this place by three people and didn’t disappoint. I got there 4 mins after opening just because I started work at 8 but there was already a line. The cinnamon buns are amazing. If I ever return to Ladysmith, this would be the reason why.

Love the scones and sweet treats here! Love the ambiance and look. I came here to do homework in the middle of the week. I don’t live here, but certainly make it a point to stop in every opportunity I have!

The cinnamon buns here are just so good that I always find an excuse to bike or hike in the area to make a stop here after. The Old Town Bakery is renowned for the cinnamon buns and have won several awards on them with several kinds available.

There is also lots of good seating and a few tables outside. Additional baked goods, breads, pies, cakes and lunch items are available too. Coffee is served and I like they have a water fountain for people to fill their own cups and water bottles.

Consider making a quick stop here if you have a craving for sweets.

I got married this past weekend and one of the things I was stressed the LEAST about was getting my desserts from OTB. I was absolutely correct about not having not reason to be stressed. The cake turned out BREATH TAKING. I was so excited about how beautifully it came together. I supplied them with a cake topper and some left over artificial florals that we had left over from other arrangements we had made and Geoff and his team worked some magic with them.

I also received a bunch of cupcakes for our decorate your own cupcake bar. The Red Velvet cupcakes were the winner at the event. They were sooo delicious.

This is the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. No contest. Worth every penny and every calorie. We ate the cream cheese roll as well as the peanut butter variety.
