Buchanan School

I have had 2 children at this school. (2016, ages 9 currelntly & previously attended age 16). Both kids have had positive experiences.
- They are very hands on and have great teachers who work directly with your child's personal needs. They offer special needs learning.
- Their classes are Kindergarten, grade 1/2/3 and grade 4/5. Multi-age classrooms encourage older children to help the younger ones and allowing kids to learn at their own learning level.
- They take great pride in cultural traditions, especially aboriginal culture. Yearly creating new art projects that represent it. (Flutes, canoes, drums...) Elders come and work hand and hand with the kids, teaching and creating memories.

Best elementary school ever.

Serious lack of supervision during breaks at this school. My son came home with a traumatic brain injury and the school had no idea. We're very fortunate there was no bleeding or he'd have brain damage.

This lack of supervision also creates a breeding ground for bullying. My son was assaulted with enough force to completely rip the hood off his snow suit, among other incidents.

In my opinion this lack of supervision is a symptom of hiring senior citizens and special needs individuals to patrol during lunch.

At this point we are just trying to make it through the year without any more major issues, but I deeply regret not escalating to the superintendent sooner.

I am giving one star only because the choice for 0 stars is not available. no adult supervision for kids on patrol. This school is in need of improvement. Teachers seem to be there just to get paid.

My son donated 20 dollars to the school as the slide was broken and the schools trying to gather donations to replace it. Today ,May 16th he asked for a receipt for said 20 dollars and was told," this is not a mall, we don't give receips"

I encourage everyone that has had issue with this school to contact the school board and file a complaint and call or email our MLA, Steven Fletcher.

Very horrible teachers, they yell at my son and blame certain kids on things they did not do, it feels like teachers are only there for money and to annoy the kids do not recommended.

My siblings keep getting bullied and hurt constantly. Everyday they come home with new bruises.
