Last year, not many fishes but more this year. We came several times and found a lot around the 3rd week of Oct this year. if you come here too early, you may not find any fishes. And next year will be the big year. Also, kids love to hear the magic story of Salmon run. Ps: last year, we did not see fishes but we saw a rainbow at here 🌈

Perfect place to learn and watch the salmon run! We saw groups of salmon in the river. There are more of them coming. There is a $5 entrance fee for private vehicles(per vehicle). There is a booklet about life cycle of salmon for another $5 if you want to buy at the entrance, which is optional. Be prepared to spend 4-5 hours here, as one of the trail is 2.8km and the other one is 1km. Really worth the visit!

This year water level is a bit low, but you see the salmon run more clearly. The local sign and directions are unclear. We have to use our cell phone apps to navigate.

It was an exhilarating experience to witness the Red Salmons or Sockeyes. They are just one of the wonder of nature. It's great to see that a festival was held to show the pride of this species.

2018 is the dominant run that comes every 4 years. But don't fret, next year (2019) will also have a strong salmon run. Most bus tourist gather at the viewing platform but I suggest you take a few hours and venture out to the trails for a closer view and livelier salmons.

Remember NOT to step into the river as sockeye salmon lay their eggs in gravel near the shore!

Walking along the Plaque Channel trail, the river is quite flat and shallow so you have a few chances to view these brave parents up close.

To see the jumps in action, you can head towards the canyon (follow the lower path of the Wade road trails, spare around 2 hrs if you turn around at the first lookout). The current runs pretty fast and there are a few gravel beaches where you can sit, picnic and observe the salmons' fight their way up.

I had no idea there was so much to learn about Sockeye Salmon. This tour is a must for anyone; truly an eyeopener. Josephine at the tour office building is an absolutely amazing person! Anyone wanting to stretch their legs and learn a thing or two needs to do this! 2018 is part of the 4 year cycle and should be a record run... supposedly at the peak the 1st week of October.

It's a really nice place to enjoy the annual salmon run. 2018 was supposed to be a dominant year. We haven't had the feeling that it was a dominant year though unfortunately...but that's how it is. Still it was a very cool experience!

Visited this place in September. Not a single salmon here because the spawning usually starts in October. Like once in every 4 years. Next time better come in Mid-October.

Lots of beautiful riverfront to explore and view the salmon, with activities and a great selection of food trucks back at the picnic area. Also very knowledgeable guides. Forest trails are very mellow and accessable for people with small children or wheelchairs etc.

today was a great day for a hike, we were charged $10 to park and I don't remember in the past doing that so I question why, the lady told us about the education that the society is doing so ok I was good with that, the trails are so well taken care of and yes lots of information along the trail, and they had a lot of Venders I thought was good. they also had the local band educating all of us as well as the forestry and fisheries, and to see an elder and medicine tepees was great! and there were a lot of local school kids, there were dogs also on trail and we ventured a little deeper on the trails and got up to almost to the canyonn next time the canyon will be our next hike

Awesome little hike. The girls at the desk was informative. Petra was awesome teaching us the lifecycle of a salmon. Very cool place and lots to learn. Salmon runs in October around Thanksgiving, don't expect to see salmon off season. A beautiful hike with well maintained paved trails. Next year (2022) they have the big salmon run in October, am hoping i can make it.
