I always enjoy stopping in here whenever I visit Alberta! The staff is so friendly and I love seeing the Heartland stuff no matter how many times I’ve seen it all! Wish that the Heartland display was bigger like it used to be since the Museum is in the town where Heartland is home, but it is still a must see stop on your travels! Thanks for always being so kind and welcoming :)

Wonderful stop if you're in town to visit all things Heartland. Friendly workers there too.

Really good museum, originally the old train station, with lots of history of the old trading trails from the US to Canada, plus how the town was used for filming of Superman Smallville scenes, Maggie's diner, Heartland plus lots more. Enough Variation to interest all ages. A really small museum but one I found particularly interesting maybe because of this. Entry cost is down to the individual, pay what you feel it's worth.

My suggestion is that if you are going to look around High River then this is a good place to start. Not sure if part of the museum but there is a cafe in an old railway carriage and we wished we'd seen it before going elsewhere.
We went to High River because of the Heartland TV series but learnt so much more like that fact that the original Superman was filmed there and the really nice lady told me about Tin Star that I avidly watched when home and put the TV series down as a classic.

The staff at the Museum of the Highwood went above and beyond to make our High River visit exceptional!
Maps, suggestions and updated information (and more...) all contributed to making my niece's Heartland tour extra special.
The displays are incredible, and thoughtfully curated.
If you're wanting to add a special touch to your trip, I'd highly recommend stopping in. If you can, remember to bring cash for the "by donation" offering in exchange for your visit.

It was a lovely experience visiting the museum. The staff was great. They welcomed me when I enters the building and made sure to thank me and say goodbye as I left. They were great at knowing all about heartland and showing on a map other cool interesting filming sites within the town. They had some great recommendations for places to get coffee and food within the town. There was a heartland quiz that was challenging as there were questions from earlier season I couldn’t remember. I am really glad I took the 45 minute drive from Calgary to see this museum.

Your HEARTLAND pilgrimage should begin here! This amazing museum is located in the historic railway station in High River AB. The museum is staffed by a dedicated team of knowledgeable local talent that is willing and able to assist you in getting the most out of your trip to Hudson.

The museum is accessed through a donation. Upon entering there are plenty of very interesting displays that inform the visitor of all the past and recent history of the High River (Real) and Hudson (Fictitious) locales.

Parking is ample and accessible. Washroom facilities are available for patrons.

This little museum is amazing thanks to the staff. The lady knows a lot and explained so much about the building, village. Once the building was a railway station.

The museum highlights many of the movies shot in the area, plus lots of historical information about George Lane's Bar U ranch and the Prince of Wales' EP ranch. They were a huge part of Alberta's history, including the birth of the Calgary Stampede. There are also lots of artifacts from the indigenous peoples of the area. Well worth the drive!

A smaller museum that has a room with memorabilia from the movies and series that have been filmed in High River. And there are quite a few. There is the the original cape of Christopher Reeves, the first Superman movies, some scene or scenes shot in High River, Argo memorabilia, and Heartland. Don’t forget to check out Maggie’s Diner on your visit. It is no longer a working diner and only a film set for Heartland. You can take some pics from the outside and pics of the set through the windows.

Small but interesting museum. The imagination station for kids is amazing. My kid didn't want to leave. Easley could spend there hours just because of that 😅

The guy who helped us was SO helpful, went above and beyond. Walked us through all the ways we could see some of the things we were interested in. And answered every question with utmost patience. He even told us good restaurants to go to and then looked them up for us to make sure there was the dietary options we needed. Would go again.

Kids loved it. Wife loved it. So I had a good day. Very cool play area for the kids. We wanted to eat in the train car but there were lots of fancy dressed after church types having lunch and did not want to disturb them with our kids. Looking forward to trying it next time.

Great place to stop to learn about the history of High River and Southern Alberta. A must stop if you're in the area. Excellent venue as well. You can just feel the history of all the passengers that traveled through that old train station. If the walls could talk...
