Beaver Flat Campground in Kanaskis Country is a jewel. The washrooms are the cleanest in the valley. Who hangs flower pots on out houses? Beaver Flat does!
Being on the river is the jewel, but to be fair most of the sites are well treed, thus fairly private. The sites are always very clean and tidy. And yes, there are several cool beaver dams to see.
I made the mistake of looking at the reviews... You gotta know the negative reviews are likely the problem sites we all hate to be next to. They're kind of sad, as they are, from my experiences completely wrong. Beaver Flat and the staff are perfect.
When we need wood etc., the hosts are beyond polite, very personable, in fact they add to the terrific experience.
I highly recommend camping there, so quiet and breathtakingly beautiful.

Big spots. Space between sites. Some along Elbow River. Quiet. Close to Elbow Falls. Trees...beaver dam... a few nice tent spots as well with some along the river. No hookups. Clean>Toilets. Non-drinkable>Pump water. Firewood available > $. There is no signal. FCFS
Camp hosts were awesome. <3

Quite a quick and easy walk and really beautiful scenery. This is a nice walk to do with smaller children as it's not too challenging and there are no steep inclines. The scenery and surrounding areas are also enough to keep younger minds occupied and engaged. We visited on a week day and there was ample parking available in the morning but we noticed things started getting a little busier after lunch.

Amazing location with no mobile service coverage. With very nice spots close to the Elbow river. You can see here the Beaver 🦫 dams and sometimes the beaver itself. The great thing it has no mobile access but close to Bragg greek city with almost all required services. Booking spot cost $31 for a night

We got super lucky on the long weekend and there was a campsite available right next to the water.
Clean site, great firepits, good spacing between sites and tree coverage for privacy from neighboring sites. Plenty of room on the pads for two campers
Site attendant is friendly and came around a couple times with wood, gave us some hiking tips.

Nice campground near Calgary. The sites are nicely spaced out and there are lots of spots near the river. It is quite busy on the weekends and we were very lucky to get a spot. The Campground hosts are very nice and come around a couple of times each day to sell firewood. It's all first come first served so if you're looking for a spot it's worth it to drive in even if the sign says 'Campground full'.

Beaver flats is an amazing camp ground located at the base of a group mountains. Your still in alberta sadly but you dont realise it with the mountains so close. You have access to all kinds of hiking paths and multiple water falls in the area, along with lots of caves to go and wander thru. The campsites are very well shaded by trees. The fire pits are a little small but it does the trick. They could use more bear proof garbage bins around the camp ground. The fire wood is 10 dollars a bag which is a little pricey but you wont find it cheaper anywhere else. There is a store about 20 min drive from beaver flats that has everything you need at a decent price. I am going back again multiple times this year and many more to come. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

We had a wonderful time camping at Beaver Flat Campground last week. The camp managers were very friendly, helpful and always ready to make our stay more comfortable (they even deliver firewood for $10/pack). Beautiful surroundings and well taken care of "First Come - First Serve" sites. Great nature walks nearby. Washrooms even have flower baskets to accent the view. Basic camping, no services (no showers and no cell phone reception) so fill your RV fresh water and pack your generator. ...Don & Chr

Love the hosts, campsites are clean, and quite, And don't get me started on the outhouses all I can say is amazing.
Love coming to the campground because of the hosts, thank you for what you do, and can't wait to be back next year.

Wish I would have found this place years ago. Tho it would not have been suitable in my party days. Its perfect now with great respected quiet times and constant patrol for partiers.

A huge shout out for the camp host at Beaver Flats! I camp by myself most of the time and have bad knees. They took the time to share hikes that I could handle and beautiful spots on the river to sit with my dog. They had lots of fire wood to deliver and smiles all day long! The camp ground is family and dog friendly with clean out houses with flowers hanging and beautiful walks! Thanks again, I will be back for sure!

So this is a little gem of a spot that my family has gone to for some time now. Peaceful times. Always quiet and kept clean. The camp managers are super friendly and treat you with respect and privacy. Definitely wish Canada's summers were longer.

Love this campground!! Such a beautiful hidden gem. We got lucky and got a river site which was so peaceful to wake up to! Love the staff as well! They will go out of their way to make us feel welcome and the kids think they walk on water! Thumbs up for sure.

This is such an easy walk with so much to see. The levels of beaver dams along the water are so neat to see and its usually relatively quiet compared to the larger hikes in the area. Great for kids or people who are not up for a big hike but want to enjoy some great views and some good old Canadian beaver watching

Camping in the Kananaskis is normally cold at night, but if you're up for that, this is a very nice provincial campground. Sites are well maintained and not overly close to each other. There is a nice walking trail too. Just remember to pay for your Kananaskis Pass and please protect our parks! (Use bins for garbage and don't chop wood without a permit😁)

Absolute must go for anyone who enjoys camping, in the McLean area, right on thw water and absolutely gorgeous, and 26 dollars a night it does end up being $52 for a weekend but if you can find a spot close to the water you wont regret it. Had a great time. No power (the way it should be) and generally a pretty quite place, not great for the party types, but awesome for anyone who loves the outdoors.

My favourite camp ground close to Calgary. No hookups so no big rigs. It's old, so the sites are far apart. No RV hell here. It's a great area for hiking with trail heads near by and Elbow Falls a nice walk.
