Golden Star Restaurant

I placed a large order online with short notice for a staff meeting, asking for confirmation the order could be met on such short notice. Golden Star not only fulfilled the order, but the food was tasty, the service above par and delivery very timely. My co-workers enjoyed and conveyed their compliments.

I'm very happy with the food. And the guy was awesome that served us. Try this place out I promise fresh tasty food. You'll enjoy if you like that classy establishment

Had the shrimp fried rice and it is extremely good, almost as good as the one I had in Barrhead before. Portion sizes are fair compared to the price too. I'd say it's definitely more of the nicer places to dine in GP too. The fountain/bridge entrance is a nice touch to the restaurant's atmosphere too.

Best Chinese food in grande prairie.I have went everywhere here and this restraunt far surrpasses the rest

The food was fabulous! We were a group of 6, so we ordered the combination for 6. Nice sized portions, tasty and filling. Our waitress Stacey was very friendly and accommodating! We will be back!

The food was simply amazing and so was the service. The waitress was 5/5 in every aspect and was kind and courteous. The owner can be seen chit chatting with his customers and joking with them and it’s so nice to see. Very nice restaurant and people and delicious food. Shoutout to the kind man who paid for my fiancé & I’s food. ❤

The food was delivered fast and was delicious. The stand out is that the chow mein is the BEST. The perfect amount of sauce and not dry and tasteless. Perfect.

Kudos to the whole staff especially to Mr. Ronan Avenilla & the servers for promptly taking care of their guests’ needs.
All of them are friendly, professional and accommodative. And of course
to the Chefs, 👌👌 for providing a good and tasty food. ✨✨✨

I remember going to Golden Star with my family in the 70's numerous times. I would have been about 8. All I ever wanted was the Chicken Fried Rice and to splash my hands in the pond. Sorry about that. I was 8!

It was always a pleasure to dine there. It was also one of the few places where my sister and I would not fight.

I hear that you are closing after many many years.

A true loss to GP. Over the years you have created fine Cuisine and fine lasting memories.

Now living in Thailand where I eat a lot of Chicken Fried Rice!

Loved this place, kids new favorite as well. Food is exceptional, the staff are great, and I have leftovers for 2 days.

Very friendly staff, the food was great. Will definitely be back again. Definitely recommend this place.

honestly i ordered and got my food in less then 3 minutes kinda concerning. i get it ‘be fast’ but don’t make it seem like you just have piles of food in the back waiting. sort of weird? doesn’t make it feel fresh ect. and the menu is way too large, top restaurant owners say having a huge menu will take away from your authenticity. good food no doubt but just seems weird?

Completely disagree with the 0/3 review. There's no way you were @ The Golden Star. Food is hot, plentiful, and tasty as all get-out. Service is quick & friendly. Some might think it's a bit pricey but I don't really agree with that either. I always have leftovers -- so it's like a meal & a half! And the restaurant is clean & pleasant -- NOT a dive.

Found this Grande Prairie hidden gem a couple winters ago when the street was closed but they were still open. It became our group of buddies' secret hidden paradise.

Dined in a few times, taken out a few times, ordered delivery too many times to count. We order enough for our crew of 6 big burly guys for just over $100 and always have plenty of leftovers for the next night. We've ordered from almost every Chinese food restaurant from Edmonton to Fort Nelson BC, this is still the best Chinese food I've had in Western Alberta to Northern BC. That's saying a LOT because I grew up in Vancouver with some of Canada's finest Asian cuisine. Golden Star feels like home!

Recommendation:
Beef Chow Foon, little different if you've never had it before but it's the BEST noodle dish.

You won't be disappointed with Golden Star if you have an open mind (I know everyone has their favorite Chinese food spot and gets used to dishes done a certain way). This is officially the only Chinese food restaurant I'll order from in GP.

We have been going to the Golden Star since we were children & the food & service are always wonderful! The Chinese food is better than at many big city restaurants & we are fortunate to have this quality in our city. I am amazed that anyone could write a negative review because it is the one place we can trust for special occasions & out of town guests.

Have always loved the food and atmosphere here. Just as good or better after reopening.
