Spotless clean, unlike other large supermarkets in the area, the baskets, trolleys, and self serve checkouts are always like they were just cleaned minutes before you arrived.
With Covid risks and just general hygiene there is nothing worse than picking through the baskets or trolleys to find one remotely clean because they have rubbish in them or they look like they were recovered from the pond or creek at local park.
This is not just an occasional thing, this store clearly has a manager on the ball. Great work!!

I love that the parking is super close, and the store is super accessible. It has always been super clean and tidy. The staff here have always been very friendly and helpful. This is my favourite coles!

Although there was a sign that the till is closed while she was serving me, Lola was still letting people to come and serve them after me.

Coles Upper Mount Gravatt, located at The Village shopping centre was clearly built for those who value convenience. Simply park, then shop - without the hassle of navigating the treacherous car parks of the newly renovated Garden City shopping centre across the road.

Although Coles goes to pains to ensure adequate stock levels from open to close, the best times to shop are between 8am to 1pm. Markdowns of items across all departments occur just before 2pm, so if you're wanting that 6 pack bag of cinnamon donuts, sneaking in 5 minutes before close is going to fill you with disappointment.

As for service, no other supermarket chain compares. When it comes to this store in particular, none even come close. Every time I have shopped at this Coles, the team members have been more than willing, if not too eager to show me where an item is. When it comes down to it, I'd rather have over-service, than under-service.

Sundays are always the busiest time of the week to shop, while Tuesdays are the slowest. Weekly Specials end at close every Tuesday, and begin at open on Wednesday.

If you're feeling hungry, there are a fair few restaurants and cafes to take a break at as well.

Great Coles - definitely has seen better times with the lack of variety but given the times they are doing their best. Convenient location.

Great Service and it's great to go with friends named Matt & Sean. There is loads of fun to be had at our local Coles supermarket up here in the beautiful heart of upper mount gravatt only a little walks always from garden city it has a nice community feel. Something you wouldn't get from those big nasty dirty shopping centres. The toilet facilities are quite a spectacle themselves, having 4 & a 48/96 urinals plus 2 full sized enclosed doored toilets perfect for when you a good ole F@?. This is our crib, our territory. 4220 represent!

Coles is very handy withe all the surrounding shops & gym. I can have a coffee after shopping + 2 hot bread shops.

Just finished my shopping at Coles. I had sorted my groceries on the check out so all the cold products were first followed by tins etc and fruit and vegetable last. I gave my cold bags to the assistant so the cold products could go into the cold bags. She shoved most of the cold items into the cold bags as well as rice and other items which don't require refrigeration- there was still room in the cold bags but instead of using it she then placed the custard in a regular shopping bag. It's nearly 30 degrees outside. I can't understand why she would do that especially when I had placed all the cold items together for her. Maybe she's new and doesn't know what cold bags are for

Since refurbishing, there is now more room in which to get around and their fresh food section is terrific. The rewards program is great too.

i came in looking for some help to find items that are not commonly known and a lovely worker by the of Mohamed came to my assistance and was exceptionally helpful. customer service at this Coles is top tier!

Good store with plenty of space and good self checkout area. Parking is easier than you think when you see it from the road. Plenty of underground parking.

I have been coming to this store for about 11yrs staff always very friendly, a young staff member(Amy) really stood out, she was amazing 💞💞

Go here often.. Service is always good.. Quick and easy. On Christmas eve it was especially busy.. However all the registers were open and there was no waiting at all.

Here is the recipe for you all

20 g / 0.7 oz dried porcini mushrooms (slices, whole or chopped) (Note 1)1 ¼ cups / 312 ml boiled water1 kg / 2 lb chuck beef , cut into 2.5cm/1” cubes (Note 2)1 - 2 tbsp vegetable oil2 garlic cloves , minced1 onion , finely chopped1 celery , finely chopped1 carrot , finely chopped3 carrots , halved lengthwise then cut into 1.5cm/ 3/5” chunks1/3 cup flour (any)300 ml / 10 oz dark ale (or substitute with red wine, Guinness or more beef stock)2 cups / 500 ml beef stock3 sprigs thyme or 1 tsp dried thyme leaves2 bay leaves , fresh or dried200 g / 7 oz bacon , diced300 - 400g / 10 – 13 oz Swiss brown mushrooms , larger ones halved1 – 2 sheets puff pastry (enough to cover pie)1 egg yolk

Instructions

Place porcini in a bowl and add hot water. Leave to soak for at least 30 minutes. Strain mushrooms and reserve soaking liquid. Roughly chop porcini.

Sprinkle beef with salt and pepper.

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large heavy based pot. Add half the beef and brown all over, then remove and repeat with remaining beef. Set beef aside.

Turn stove down to medium low. If the pot is looking dry, add more oil. Add onion and garlic, cook for 2 minutes. Add finely chopped carrots and celery, cook for 6 minutes or until softened and sweet (taste test!). Add carrot chunks and cook for 2 minutes.

Add flour and stir through.

Add ale, beef stock, and stir to dissolve the flour.

Add thyme, bay leaves, porcini, reserved porcini soaking liquid (don’t tip in gritty bits settled at bottom) and cooked beef. Turn heat up slightly, mix, bring to simmer, then cover. Adjust heat so it is simmering gently, not energetically.

Cook for 1 hr 45 minutes or until beef is tender. (See video)

Meanwhile, cook bacon in a skillet over high heat until golden. Remove and reserve bacon drippings in pan. Add mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes until golden all over. Return bacon into skillet, toss to coat mushrooms, then stir through stew.

Simmer stew, uncovered, for 15 minutes until mushrooms are tender. Then remove from stove and cool.

TO COOK:

Preheat oven to 200C/390F.

Pour stew into a pie dish, even out surface. Pictured pie dish is 24 x 20 x 4.5 cm / 10 x 8 x 1.8" (1.5L / 1.5 Qt) - see Notes for more conversions.

Top with puff pastry (if too big, just fold the ends in), brush with egg yolk. Cut a few slits in the surface then bake for 30 – 35 minutes until deep golden and the filling is piping hot in the middle (stick a knife in to check).

Rest for 5 minutes before serving!

Good little store, don’t always have absolutely everything the big store has at the major centre just along a bit, but perfect for most choices and price.
