Managed to amass 3.5kgs worth!
Given, I have never picked chestnuts before, and with only an hour until closing, this foraging session felt like I was some amazing race to collect as many chestnuts as I could!
I was really fun and a great workout too!
The farm owners were really lovely and offered some really helpful tips on how to roast those chestnuts 🌰

Even if you don’t pick or forage, it’s a nice garden to roam around and take some pretty snaps with a gorgeous backdrop.

We will come back, maybe next time … earlier, so it can be done in leisure and a humanly pace :)

The owner is very friendly. My Kids enjoyed the picking. There is plenty of chestnut on the ground for kids to open. Highly recommended

Picking your own chestnuts and walnuts is a fun activity for everyone. Fernhill Chestnut Farm is a 15-acre luxury estate in the pristine village of Mount Wilson off the Bells Line of Road in the Blue Mountains and is one of the best places to go nut picking near Sydney. Fernhill's owner, Marcia Moulton has over 70 chestnut trees of varying ages in her beautiful farm and opens her farm for public during Chestnut and walnut harvesting season which starts in March and ends mid-May.

It was a pleasure visiting this farm. The place is beautiful and the owner Marcia was very kind in explaining everything and answered all our questions. Great experience and picture postcard views available.

Visited Fernhill Chestnut Farm last Sunday 17 April with 3 other families. There is an entry fee of $5 for adults the Kids were free . We enjoyed a great picnic on the farm while the kids kicked the ball and had a good run around this large Farm. Each family collected 2 klos of chestnuts which were $10 a Kilo. This was a great arvo for everyone. Lots of Chestnuts on the big trees.

Owner was really nice. It's a garden with chestnut trees. You can pickup a lot of it if you make the effort

What an exceptionally sweet owner!

Fern Hill was so reasonably priced. The lady had everything you could possibly need to share at no extra cost.

The dear lady didn't even charge us for the chestnuts and gave our son some additional things to share with his pre-school class.

Such a delightful way to spend the day in the most charming surrounds. What a beautiful way to bring the family together and create treasured moments. Thank you!

2nd visit!

"Nature's Bounty at Chestnut Haven"

- Chestnut picking is still available, offering a delightful opportunity to connect with nature's bounty.

- Spanning approximately 15 hectares, this area promises ample space for exploration and relaxation.

- While walnuts are off-season in April, the prospect of chestnut picking and the lush surroundings make for an enticing visit.

- The establishment boasts beautiful seating areas, perfect for future BBQ gatherings and enjoying the tranquillity of the outdoors.

- Entry is priced at a reasonable $5 per person, ensuring accessibility for all who wish to partake in the experience.

- Today's prices for walnuts stand at $20 per kilogram, with chestnuts likely priced slightly higher, but the value of the experience outweighs any cost.

- The warm hospitality of the elderly couple, who graciously allowed us to explore for our review, added to the charm of the visit.

- It's time to pack a picnic basket and embark on a journey to this serene haven. With its scenic beauty and welcoming atmosphere, it's no wonder we've fallen in love with this place.

$5 entry fee per person and $15 per kg. We didn’t end up going in because of the steep entry fee but our friends who did go in didn’t come out with much…

There is not a chestnut farm so only a few chestnut tree there but the owner was friendly and nice. When we visited there on 18/4, there was no many chestnut left due to the ending season.
They charge $5 per adult as the entry fee + the chestnut you picked.

A peaceful farm with chestnut trees. If you are like me who have no idea about how chestnuts are harvested then it's a place to go during the autumn leaves season. Also fun with kids and family.

It's not a farm. There are several chestnut trees in a big garden. Nuts are small like a dollar coin sized I felt ^^ visiting someone's garden that have the trees ^^ would not recommend

When we visited we were not able to pick our own chestnuts, but we purchased two 1kg bags of chestnuts that the owners had for sale. On arriving home and roasting all of them we found that they were all rotten. Our disappointment was great and we duly informed the owners but have never received any feedback. It may not be possible to know the condition of chestnuts before roasting or cooking them, but surely the owners should do occasional sampling to verify the quality of what they are selling. Reading other reviews shows that our experience is not an isolated one. Overall, a big letdown.

Today my family went there for picking chestnut. Even they dont have any for us to pick, and the whole garden only have 4 chestnut trees, no walnut trees. They still take $5 per person without hesitation and receive reservations. I wonder how can they still take money with nothing inside there.

No entrance fee but 17/kg. Much much expensive than other farm and they weighted the nuts together with bucket.

Not a farm. We feel lied to. It’s just a big garden with a few trees. We only went here because Kookootonga Chestnut Farm was closed for this season (which is an ACTUAL farm, they DON’T charge an entrance fee and only charges $10 per kg - Fern Hill charges $5 entry + $15 per kg, but how can you even find a kilo of chestnuts here?!?). Don’t expect any honesty from the hosts, she sold us old stale chestnuts for $10... talk about adding insult to injury. Stay away from this place please and go to a real farm.

. We had a group of 30 people and we paid $5 entry and we found about 10 chestnut between all of us. Do not recommend because they were not honest with us about the availability
