Last minute decision to come here on a Friday arvo (when it got too late to start trekking to Acacia flats from Pierce's Pass). And what a lovely surprise this place turned out to be! Lots of immersive little tracks to enjoy nearby; picnic tables; areas for lighting camp fires.. I especially enjoyed Happy Valley track.. and also being in close proximity to various beautiful gardens in Mt Wilson area. (There weren't too many other campers on Friday night, but I can imagine it being popular on weekends.)

2hr 20 minutes from Sydney where I live it's nice. Not much wood to be found here but fire pits are well done. It's higher and a lot cooler so you will need fires at night and a nice bottle. Load up with wood drive in with it rug up. There is a 45 minute waterfall walk down the road by car like 10 minutes it's a nice loop walk. And there's longer walks. Mt Wilson is a rural residential area with a nice leafy feel to it. The camping area is about a 15 to 20 min walk to the bush fire brigades HQ buildings not much else around except a nice private garden to view for 5 acres for a $10 entry which includes tea and biscuits which I'd go to but havent been to yet. Lots of Tree Ferns and overhanging canopy around this area that make a tunnel out of the roads and tracks. Water tank at the site is non potable, there are seats and tables and log bollards to sit on. Toilets are a bit disgusting but not the worst I've seen. There are some roofed structures with tables and chairs. Overall a pleasant area. This place is large but I'd say quite busy on a long weekend.

It was delightful exploring Mt Wilson over the weekend. It's a great time of year as long as you've got some warm gear -- cold, clear, uncrowded, and relaxing. It was great to see the regeneration of the tree ferns and forest so soon after the 2019-20 bush fires. The campground is free, allows fires (fire warnings excepted), and has room for vans, camper trailers, and tents -- even secluded tent sites up the trails away from the main camping area. There's a basic toilet, washing water, but no drinking water. Highly recommended.

One of closest free camping ground from Sydney where you’re allowed to start wood fire.
No drinkable water but there is a rain water tank, you can boil to drink.
Public toilets recently upgraded - which is a huge plus.

We stayed here for 1 night in March. No booking requiered. Just pick a nice spot and setup your camp. Accessible with 2wd van. Toilets are ok-ish. Bring toilet paper and plenty of water. There were also many fire pits around, but we arrived late and didn't use them. It can get colder - due to mountsin region , so make sure you have some warmer clothes.

A great free camp spot in the upper blue mountains. There were pit toilets and bins. Each campsite has a fire pit and there are some great walks nearby. It was very lush and green while we were there.
There is a few bars of reception but best to download all your trail maps before coming here and make sure you bring your own firewood and your water. We made the mistake of thinking the local servo could fill up our water bottles, but they were on rain water which was apparently undrinkable. So pack your own water, although we bought ice and just melted that down.

The cathedral of the ferns walk is very short but pretty. There were lots of bugs this time of year so bring that bug spray!

The happy trial walk looked great! This could be a great spot to stop for a picnic or refresh after one of the bigger canyoning walks.

Gorgeous campground with well stocked toilets. We love the firepits and the picnic tables. The view is just priceless! We enjoyed our camp trip here. We loved waking up to the interesting songs from the birds in the morning.

Great picnic area with drop dunny (which stank obviously quite badly - small supply of toilet paper) and picnic tables + fire pits. Beautiful location.
Enjoyed the nice views and location.

Lovely place to spend an afternoon in Autumn. Beautiful streets and a couple of nice lookouts in Mt Wilson. Lot's of space to camp with a few firepits and tables. Plenty of trash bins. But no water and not enough toilets though.

Well maintained beautiful free campground.

* Sealed road access
* Easy 2wd access
* The open grassy campsite as well as a secluded bush camping area
* Campsites are unmarked
* Only one toilet block with two male and female toilets. Plenty of paper towels, hand wash soap and hand sanitiser
* Contained fire pits and picnic tables
* Vehicle access to the campsite is blocked, making the ground clean, soft and flat, which is a plus.
* Plenty of gardens to visit near the campsite, including but not limited to Bisley garden, Bebeah Garden, Merry Grath Garden and Nooroo Garden.
* Telstra reception with patchy 4G network

* Bring your firewood, drinking water, tent, and warm sleeping bag. Night can get chilly here.

If you are coming from Sydney, do not come through Mount Victoria; come through Bilpin instead. The Darling Causeway from Mount Victoria to Bells Line of Road have 100s of enormous potholes. Its speed limit is 80kph, but if you drive at that limit, congrats you are a pilot now 🫡😀.

One of the most beautiful camping grounds I've been to. We arrived and there was a thick mist throughout the forest, with plenty of nice walking tracks to explore, it definently added to the experience. Highly recommend a visit!

Last night was minus 2,thus,no campers were around us.
Fire pits are everywhere and this place is easy to reach off from main road to Mudgee , Dubbo.
My kids love to stay here.

Due to COVID-19, national parks are changed to reservation systems and bookings are required, but everything is not needed here. You can go and dance a pleasant rest whenever you have time.

A Peaceful, big and flat campground with toilets and fireplaces. Still can see traces of bushfire on the way, but the campsite has not been damaged in any way, thanks to firefighters and volunteers.
