Interesting small museum with information about and artifacts from intrepid explorers of Australia and the Pacific. Includes the remains of Cook’s Tree. Located on the way to the memorial at Captain Cook’s Landing Place. Pleasant host.

Extraordinary and vast private collection of artefacts with specific focus on Pacific exploration by Bligh, Cook, D'Entrecastreaux, Flinders et al.

Building is constructed from convict-made bricks.

Allow 30-45 minutes to view the entire collection.

Didn't realise or remember from my school's days all the different explorers who camped in Australia. Bruny Is was first place apple tree planted. Excellent aray of explorer maps , descriptions....poor CAPT Bligh has a tough time in Ozz.

Lovely selection of historical photos and artefacts. Where you can find the tree that captian Cook inscribed his name on. Small building though so can get cramped as there is so many things to look at.

Barry is great bloke doing a great job. A building full of history that can't be seen anywhere else in the world. I hope I helped you to identify the Papua New Guinea bow up on your wall along with the fishing spears.

We 2 couples from Perth Peter & Maureen Ray & Heather visited Bligh Museum on Wednesday 8 Dec 2021. We were priveldged to be permitted to photograph Capt James Cook's tree stump where he tied his ship in 1792 to carry out repairs now located in the Bligh Museum.
Truly a great collection of historical records and artifacts worthy of a visit to this amazing museum on Bruny Island on the shore of Adventure Bay.
I want to return and spend more time reading the historical records to learn more about the very early exploration of Australia 🇦🇺 and to view more of the artefacts.

Amazing small, private museum about the European explorers that discovered and mapped Tasmania. Features include 50% of the collection being original artefacts (and the other half reprints and copies).

Proprietor is extraordinarily friendly. Includes a guide map to explore relevant sites on the coast where significant events occurred during the explorations. Well worth stopping for only a $4 entry fee!

Wow, so much history on a few explorer's. We couldn't read everything as we were time poor, however it was just wonderful to take it all in. A friendly gentleman greeted us inside, he chatted about some of the history and pointed out important artefacts which was helpful. Im so pleased we stopped in here.

A lot of personally collected items of the history of the Island. Good to see how much has been preserved of the early European exploration of the area. A pity that you are not allowed to take photos.
