Som Tam Thai Restaurant

Favorite thai I've tried so far. Tried the chili beef, pad kee something and a curry - all great. Particularly like the smokey wok flavors of the rice noodles. Going to be part of the regular restaurant rotation.

This is the best Thai restaurant I've ever been too. Great prices and incredible food.

We have been frequenting this place for take away since we moved down here, but only just had our first sit in meal here the other night. Spectacular as always.

Spacious restaurant, with plenty of good seating options. The lady that took our order was very accommodating and humorous. We had a good laugh 😂 The dishes was lovely - we were all happy with our choice of meals, even though we all had special requirements. Definitely recommend this place.

I would give 10 stars if possible. We did a quick Google review check of the 3 different Thai restaurants around the area and all 3 have similar ratings of 4.4.

The only reason why we ended up coming to Som Tam is because we actually drove past it the night before.

The authentic decor the moment we stepped in took us by surprise and we immediately knew it would be good.

We were greeted by friendly staff, got ourselves a booth seat despite not having a reservation.

Food was most delicious. Hubby ordered the yellow chicken curry and he almost licked the dish clean of every bit of sauce. My seafood tom yum goong at $14, was great value with fresh barramundi instead of the usual basa. A good size prawn, scallop, a huge mussel, a nice piece of squid and a generous portion of button mushrooms and baby tomatoes.

A good restaurant serves good quality rice and Som Tam gets a big tick in serving jasmine rice cooked to the right consistency. And one serving is huge! Being Asian, rice is my staple and i always have to order extra rice. I am extremely satisfied with my soup and rice and did not even attempt to steal my daughter's Pad See Ewe. The Pad Se Ewe was tasty with a good wok taste and generous serving of pork belly.

An extra treat of Thai famous sticky rice mango dessert at $10 was well worth it and all 3 of us fought over it despite our full bellies.

A special shout out to the male staff in his white tee, who offered to heat up my Tom Yum soup as I had to leave the table with daughter for a bathroom break just as our food arrived.

Super impressed with the service. Food was right, service top notch and of course, good value for money.

Would definitely return again when back in Alex. Highly recommend to anyone who yearns good Thai food and not break the bank.

My favourite Thai place on the coast 😍 They are always so nice and accommodating, the food is always sooo tasty and so quick too! We’ve tried many of the vegetarian/seafood items and we love it so much. Thank you!!

Lovely meal to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Great service. Friendly staff and lovely food. Our second visit but definitely on our return list when we come back to sunny coast

This place is making me feel like I am in a different world as soon as I walk in side. It’s look very ordinary from outside. If you looking for place where can make you feel like thailand, this is one of the place that I recommend.

For Asian customers I would recommend chargrilled or stir fried dishes especially garlic and pepper prawns and Pad Pak also chicken satay which they have their own style homemade peanut sauce as well as fish cake, vegetable spring roll and chicken wing are always popular, I really recommend.

Please try chicken wing with sticky rice, this can count as your main dish which is not too heavy but it’s filling.

Delicious classic Thai food and great service reasonably priced. Nice interior and decor, I really like the seating options. Take away is also perfect, large servings and in time.

Som Tam exceeded our expectations from the moment that we walked in and were greeted by two golden lions standing on each side of the doorway.
The decor is high-class Thai and well put together, the service is friendly and efficient.
We ordered the veg curry puffs, panang chicken curry, and the spicy chicken with cashews. All the food was perfectly cooked, tasty and fresh, and the chicken was melt in the mouth.

Enjoyed dinner at a table for eight. Staff divided docket into the three families which was great. Staff very helpful and service efficient. Food was delicious. Loved it.

The lady (? Owner) is very kind every time I go there. I love their pat-see-yu noodles and fried rice!! Would recommend this place both for dine-in and takeaway! 😀

Have been coming to this place for years. Have recently moved back and nothing has changed. Amazing food, unreal traditional flavour, huge portions, extremely good prices and lovely staff. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough!!!

I've been picking up takeaway at least once a month from here (for years!). Usually the food is ready to pick up 15-20 minutes from ordering, and it's always delicious. The new clarification for vegan options has been fantastic in making sure everyone gets their perfect meal. Really friendly staff - it's also a beautiful place to dine in at, too.

My absolute favourite Thai restaurant. It's not the cheapest on the coast, but it is delicious and definitely worth every cent. Staff are friendly and the service is usually quick. Spicy chicken with cashew nuts is so good! My husband loves the panang curry.
