This little interpretation centre provides a very informative snapshot of the history of the Soldier's Settlement of the area.

The perfect place to find out about why so many places nearby are named after WW1 battlefields!

We did an escorted tour. The volunteers have done, and are continuing to do, an excellent job in establishing and running the centre. It was very interesting. Also, it's worth having a go at the alluvial tin mining which the kids will love.

A wonderful place to visit remembering our returned diggers who founded the soldier settlement scheme and their legacy lives on with the farms and orchards thriving today

It was closed when we went, but it would have been interesting to see inside and experience it properly.

Unexpected to find this spot. Sadly, my great uncle did not come back from France, but he fought near Amiens and I felt connected to the history of this legacy centre. Very grateful to those who built and maintain this centre.

There is plenty of signage to read through if you visit outside of the opening hours so you can still take in the soldier settlement history of the area. Highlights of the precinct are the imposing coat of arms on the train from the 1920 royal visit and the memorial statue to the soldier settlers and their families. The Armistice Way drive route needs to be signed better though, as after leaving the Legacy Centre to explore the rest of the area we got lost and ended up where we started within minutes.

A fascinating look at local history with some focus on World War 1 and the soldier settlement program. Also tin mining and smelting demonstrations.
