Mookin-bah Reserve

Love this place. You almost feel like you're in the country even though it's only five minutes from where I live in the middle of suburbia. It even supports wallabies--shy but I have seen them a couple of times. I don't see as many birds as I expect but you can hear them in the early morning. Do take mosquito repellent especially in wet seasons. You have the choice of walking on wide paved paths or on grassy sections. Easy walking, mostly among large trees so a good place to walk on a sunny day as you can stay in the shade most of the time.

Abundance of bird and wildlife. Revegetation including native grasses. When going to the beach wear sunscreen when going to wetlands wear insect repellent.

Great place for a walk, ride and bird watching. The tracks can get very muddy after a rain though.

I walk here often. I enjoy the wide paths. There are many grass pathways that generally go in the same direction as the bitumen paths. These give you greater sense of walking amongst nature. The are some nice small lakes. With a small variety of water birds. I do not see many other birds.
There area has used in the past for some kind of water reservoir..creating the small lakes. Distant traffic noise sometimes reminds you the whole area has roads surrounding it. But generally the area is big enough that is not often obvious.

Maybe I picked a bad time to check this walk out, right after it had rained. I couldn't find any of the paved areas mentioned in other reviews, only grass tracks which were very overgrown and difficult to follow. I gave up and turned around after about 5 minutes and another couple were doing the same thing for the same reasons. If there is a paved track, better signage is needed to direct people to where that is from the carpark. I think it would be a lovely walk if the grass tracks were better maintained and there was better signage.
