We spoke to John directly regarding the matter, he got a replacement pack, in which he was happy with. We also explained to John that the average fat content is calculated on a batch of 500kg or 1000 packets not just 1 packet. Some customers prefer bacon that is a little fatter and some do not. We want all our customers to be happy with our products, and welcome any feedback.

I recently bought Salami Casa Short Cut 1st Grade Bacon. Through the packet it looked reasonably lean and good. Upon opening the packet it became apparent that it had been deliberately packaged this way to fool the consumer. Some rashers were over 90% fat but were well hidden in the middle of the pack. I then cut off as much fat as possible. The total fat content was at least 195 grams out of 500 grams, ie 39%. This compares with the 25.4 fat claimed on the packet. Buyer beware!
