This was my forth visit from sydney since 2011. I cannot express my love for all their produce. I bought all 3 soy sauce as they bring the best of flavors in food. The wine and port is always spot on. If you can get your hands on the triple Brie cheese, don’t miss the opportunity. Highly recommend. Very friendly and worth every penny.

Stopped in today before our run back to Brisbane. Refreshing to find a producer that enthusiastically offers their range of wine and cheese with a healthy amount of banter. Looking forward to enjoying the wine and cheese this afternoon.
I’ll be sure to bring a designated driver next visit to take your offer up on a straw for the drive back to Brisbane.

Nestled in the heart of a picturesque valley, our visit to this charming, quirky winery was nothing short of remarkable. From the moment we pedaled up the gravel driveway, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that felt like coming home. The owner, a convivial host with an infectious enthusiasm for winemaking, immediately made us feel welcome.
The winery itself was a delightful maze of rustic charm and eclectic decor, with each corner telling a story. It was evident that this was a place built with passion and a keen eye for detail. The tasting room, adorned with vintage furnishings and local art, offered a cozy and inviting space to savor their exquisite wines.
Our tasting experience was guided by the owner, whose knowledge of the vineyard's offerings was both impressive and enlightening. Each wine was presented with a backstory of its origin and notes on its unique characteristics, making the experience educational as well as enjoyable. The wines themselves were a testament to the owner's dedication and skill, each one a delightful expression of the local terroir.
What set this visit apart, however, was the owner's generosity in sharing advice on our cycling route. Aware of our journey ahead, he took the time to outline a safer, scenic path that showcased the best of the surrounding countryside. This invaluable guidance not only ensured our safety but also enriched our adventure with breathtaking views and memorable encounters.
In conclusion, our visit to this winery was a highlight of our cycling trip. It offered not just a taste of exceptional wines but also a glimpse into the heart and soul of a place where hospitality knows no bounds. For those seeking an authentic, warm, and slightly off-the-beaten-path wine experience, this quirky gem is a must-visit. The owner's passion, hospitality, and invaluable advice truly set this winery apart, making it a cherished stop in our journey.

Brilliant. Came in to buy some cheese, & left with some furniture, liquor, a rustic bucket & chocolate... Then remembered we had yet to buy the cheese. Lots of great quality stuff.

This was an accidental find on our way back from Glen Aplin. I was drawn in by the cheese factory sign. Your smoked cheese is something else! I was unable to sample any alcohol but my partner tried some of the liquor and commented that if he were still able to drink that it would be high up on his list!
We also loved the handcrafted furniture I store. Next time we come, there needs to be space in the car to purchase furniture!
Thank you for sharing so informatively about your cheeses and sauces and your wonderful hospitality!

We sort of came across this place by mistake, I think we had googled a cheese factory near Stanthorpe and when we saw the roadside sign we went for a look. Best mistake we have ever made. We were greeted by a beautiful dog that herded us into an old green building briming with products. We were then greeted by The owner. We tasted all the wines etc on offer and a selection of cheese then sauce. All products were delicious and the whe experience was awesome. Like Australia used to be. Friendly welcoming people. We will be back for sure. Would give more stars if possible.

What a surprise Severn Brae Estate turned out to be. Called in to try some cheese and perhaps have some coffee. We certainly got this and a lot more. We did not realise it was also a winery and a historic building filled with bric-a-brac. The owner Bruce made us feel very welcome providing generous samples of both cheese and wine accompanied by a nonstop commentary on the building, the wines, his cheeses, and Stanthorpe. We appreciated the stories, the ambiance and the country hospitality. Not everyone will approve of the disordered appearance of the cellar door but very few will have qualms about the cheese and wine, not to mention the hot sauce or the enthusiastic host.

We travel through Stanthorpe a few times a year, and we always drop in and buy the amazing products.
Spent a lot of time in Stanthorpe over the years and this small family business has got superior wine and cheeses...
Don't let the exterior fool you.
Spend the time to talk to the owner and his son. The building has great history, and the father will bend over to supply you with great taste testing.

Best winery in Stanthorpe.
Highly recommend the reds and the sparkling is not a bad drop either.
Bruce is excellent to talk to and makes you feel right at home.
His cheese is excellent and it would be great if he could make a nice washed rind as I am sure it would be fantastic just like his blue.
We go back time and time again to top up our racks.

A definite stop for us every time we visit Stanthorpe to stay at Ballandean. Once you've tried the chilli sauces you're hooked. This place place is eclectic but look past the messiness and you'll meet Bruce who is so welcoming and informative and cheerful. We bought wine, chilli sauce and even a table made from a wine cask by a local craftsman. We're popping back in to get more sauce and cheese and perhaps some Mead too on our way home.
This place is worth more than just a quick look.

It’s very personal experience, unlike other wineries Bruce “all most” made everything in house. Very chatty bloke that I almost got lost with my wine tasting. Like the other comment said, the place is run down, but who cares, truly a pure Australian made experience.

The wines were absolutely delicious and the hot sauces and cheese even better. I loved this winery, it was such an eclectic little place with cow bells and all sorts of knick knacks, the guy who runs the place was great

If seriously good wines are what you want, this is the place to go. Sure, it's run down but who cares. The wine and host are best part of the Granite Belt wineries. 😀
