Bayside Souvlaki Cafe

As someone who appreciates the Mediterranean cuisine, I will just say that I have never had a souvlaki like this. A generous amount of meat and a good size. If you’re not a huge eater, I would recommend the mini because it was a lot. I don’t regret it though. Not only was the food amazing but the service was very quick and the people were very kind hearted. The cherry on top was the music, not your average traditional greek music but it very much suited the atmosphere. 5 stars in every aspect. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!! 😋🤤

Best place out there for a quick bite, the lady at the front and the team cooking are the kindest souls, they always welcome you with the warmest atmosphere. The food is beyond delicious, my friend and I went and ate some souvlakis together and we were literally eating in silence just completely indulging ourselves in the food. Our food came so quickly and once we finished our souvlaki we went up and got a rice pudding. OMG it was so delicious. What a perfect way to end our stay in rye.

Bayside Souvlaki Cafe is located on the main drag of Point Nepean Road in Rye. They serve up authentic charcoaled gyros as well as some homemade Greek dips and desserts.

It was the morning after a festival and I was having a big hangover craving. Walking past the shops I stopped here, they’re the rotating spits all crispy and glistening, they were essentially calling out for me.

I ordered a Mixed Lamb and Gyros, and everything about it was great. So tasty, plenty of meat, super fresh, amazing pita. I could only make it half way through it was that big. They actually have a mini size, which I would probably get next time.

$6 for their “small” chips, it was pretty generous. Well seasoned and crunchy, they did their job.

Next time I’m in Rye, I know where I’m headed!

This place was amazing! Ordered 3 souvlakis and chips to takeaway and everything was delicious! Loved the meats and the bread was soft and warm 🤤

Customer service was also #1. The lady who took my order was juggling multiple things and was still very happy and catered to some adjustments I made to the order. I believe it's a family business and if so, you're all doing a fantastic job! All the staff were nice and were speedy in getting the food ready but also in serving, presentation and overall customer service.

Will be back for sure.

Food was absolutely delicious👌🏽 Bread is amazing and filled so generously with salad and delicious meat from the spit. Chips were also amazing, cooked and seasoned perfectly. Service was super quick, I’d barely even sat down to wait before my food was ready. Super happy with the food and service, will 100% recommend to friends and family. My husband and I ordered 2 x mix souvlaki plus chips and it was super tasty (better then a lot of places in Melbourne). They are very generous in the amount of meat they give, the chips came out super hot & salty and the Greek music was a nice touch. Highly recommend this place if you are after a quick meal.

You, or they, either do Souvlakia as best as it can be done, or not. This place does it perfectly as you would expect. Cooked over charcoal the aroma dragged me inside this BBQ heaven. Lamb, chicken, beef all charring away over coal. We ordered a box of lamb & chips 🍟 Nice!! Chips were crispy, that how we like them, the Tajikistan , garlic sauce was exceptional. All the food i would recommend for a taste bud feast. As we drove down from Melbourne city to Portsea for the day, our lunch stop here was worth the money they charged for the delicious BBQ and chips we enjoyed.
Stop in, eat, you'll love it. Take your food across the road and sit by the bay for the view.

OMG OMG the best souvlaki we have ever had 100% hands down no word of a lie, you also get your moneys worth so filling. The staff are absolutely amazing so friendly. Lovely family business. My husband and I went there last week and fell in love with the FOOD and the SERVICE HIGGGGGGHHHHHLY RECOMMENDED can't wait to come back.. oh and by the way loooved the greek music playing I just wanted to dance.

The best place to get well done souvlaki gyros just like Greece. Recommend to anyone and everyone who is down at the peninsula or just passing by. The workers are hospitable and kind to all of their clients and the food is top notch. Overall great atmosphere and environment. See you next year bayside!

Lamb souvlaki was insane. The meat was juicy and tasty. Lettuce was crisp and tzatziki was tasty, maybe homemade?
Either way, yum!!

Best Gyros in the area hands down. If you buy a big souvla good luck trying to fit in a side of chips! Value for money. Can buy a meat tray with all the salads and Dips to feed the family. Real Greek food cooked by real Greeks. 😋

Working in the area at times, I called in and got a chicken souvlaki from this lovely Cafe.
I can HONESTLY say it was the BEST souvlaki I have EVER had!
It’s was absolutely MOUTHWATERING! The souvlaki bread is amazing, the chicken so tender & mouthwatering, garlic sauce and the freshness of the salad was awesome!
The staff are so lovely & the price for size and quality is worth every cent!
I don’t anywhere else now, I wait and travel down for the BEST souvlaki on the PENINSULA 👍

Incredibly good souvlaki bar. Easily the best place to get an authentic Greek souvlaki in Rye. The octopus they serve is fresh and beautifully dressed, the saganki was absolutely delicious. I would not even consider anywhere else if I'm looking for a souvlaki Rye. 10 out of 10. Well done guys. You will definitely see me there again..

Took the kids to eat on Saturday and from the moment we entered the service was amazing, it’s clean, inviting and plenty of room to sit and eat. The food was delicious. Chicken was juicy, ingredients were fresh, the meat was cooked to perfection. It’s reasonably priced. Will definitely be going there again. Worth the trip from Melbourne. Keep up the great work guys!

Chicken souvlaki was AMAZING! super juicy and delicious. I have been coming here for months now and the food gets better every single time. The new owners are incredibly friendly and Greek! Amazing place for a great feed, would a 100% recommend to everyone!

On the hunt for some souvlaki near us and came across this place, this was BY FAR one of the best souvlakis i’ve ever eaten. The sweetest bunch working as well. Definitely a new go-to.
