We ordered the 2 Person Fish Pack - everything was very tasty! The fish and chips were beautifully seasoned, batter was crunchy, dim sims were flavoursome (unlike many takeaway dim sims) - and best tartare I've ever had! Thank you!

Any review less than 5 stars is unacceptable! Flake - fresh. Chips - perfectly cooked & salted. Potato cakes - crispy and not too thick. Calamari - incomparable, the best I’ve ever had. The oil they cooked in tasted fresh. Phone service was clear and easy. Honestly this is in my top 3 fish and chip shops in Victoria. Also, the bubble tea was a surprise and was also great!

I stopped to order lunch today at Trident on the way to Lorne for the long weekend, I’d heard rave reviews from friends and was not disappointed!
Quoc is super friendly and very knowledgeable if you don’t know your fish… great selection, you can really taste the freshness and quality.
The chips were cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle.
I’m going to have to call back in on the return trip to Melbourne.

Great place to go if you are coeliac. Have not had a potato cake since I was diagnosed and they were delicious. Beautiful fresh fish and extremely helpful and friendly owner. Separate fryer for gluten free. Thank you.

Recently I had been in search of some above and beyond fish and chips. This venue apparently has THE BEST in Victoria. Naturally I said I need to try it as the sign says the best.

First of all,
there are some MUST DO’s:
Either A.) call 30 minutes ahead of your order to have it ready at the time of arrival OR B.) read the signage and be mindful that the wait time is 30 minutes.

This is not a big ask for the best fish and chips in Melbourne.

Do not say you weren’t advised as it does say so on the signage unless you are unable to read, the staff will advise you in advance which is a courtesy.

They have a lot of customers at the luncheon hour. So call ahead and it’s 30 minutes till it’s ready.

When I arrived it was lunch time, I put my order in for 1 fried flake and the gentlemen behind the counter suggested the local freshly caught in the morning whiting fish, to which I said I’ll have that ASWELL as the flake because, why not have both? I departed and took a nice 25 minute stroll around the neighbourhood after the man advised of the 30 minute wait.

You can pop into a few of the general stores if you life. Very lovely

By the time I was done having my stroll I sat down to an empty table with my partner and had a lovely Greek salad from the venue as an entree.

Very fresh and tasty! Chilled perfectly.

And within moments of the salad being finished I heard the boys in the store call 31(MY NUMBER)

I ran to fetch the beautiful fish, sat back down with my partner, opened up the parcel to find some perfectly cooked flake and whiting!

Piping hot, crispy batter, lightly but perfectly salted with a side of lemon. The flavour was on point!
The temperature perfect!
Beautiful flake, light and delicious dripping with lemon juice!
The whiting was delicious also!
Fantastic job boys!
Well done, keep making summer memorable for the people.

This is the fish and chips I’d had as a child from many venues run by European families around Melbourne! You know that quality from 15 years ago. Perfectly cooked! Rarely can you find fish made this way anymore. This meal brought back memories.

(I’d also recommend that if you are a large group visiting for the day and require more than 5 peoples worth of food, give these guys a heads up in the morning about the time so they can prepare way ahead of time because they have a lot of people show up on the spot I noticed making orders for huge groups. Be courteous to others around you. Plan ahead)

This place got the award for best fish and chips in Victoria for a reason. We went back two days in a row and enjoyed fish, chips, burger and gluten free chicken wings. Love the passion of the staff and the fresh quality seafood.
We left with a cray and prawns. Best I have had. Perfectly cooked!

Best fish n chips, non GF family loved it & I loved the GF options too. Grilled fish was thick & moist, scallops melt in mouth & chips crunchy on the outside, soft inside. Service was top notch, even tho they were busy. Chip servings were huge, could have ordered a lot less. Great feed for 4 adults, 5 kids. Highly recommend

Great local fish and chips. The flake from Flinders Island, home made potato cakes, and crossed the road to sit in the park on a hot night! 👌

I've been going here for at least a decade. Great fresh fish, great chips. The lovely guys who served us gave us two or three extra calamari rings.

Best fish and chip shop I've ever been to.

Cute shop, always clean and tidy, parking is great. What more could you want?

Just picked up some FRESH tuna to cook for dinner. The filletter showed me the whole fish and asked me to come back in 15 minutes. Just look at the fish I ended up with. Super yum.
The fridge was full of delicious fish and the hustle and bustle vibe was like I was at the market.
Next time I'm coming back for whatever is on the board at the time and I'll get then to cook it for me
What a treat

Hands down the best fish'n'chips I ever tried. Ever. I usually dislike everything deep fried, and I loved the flake - tender, juicy, full of flavor with fried batter complementing it perfectly. The chips were superior, leaving other fries I had far below. Grilled salmon was great and wonderfully fatty, no need for any dipping sauce. Dim Sims - and I love this Australian take on steamed/fried dumplings - are only $1.5 a piece and three of them would make a meal of their own. Don't forget that there's a beautiful park right across the street with a fantastic sunset backdrop to your dinner if you stop by Trident at the right time!

Enjoyed every bit of our experience at the Trident Fish Bar very much. Crunchy fried chicken was surprising to find at a fish and chip shop, hot favourite with the kids. Potato cakes were lovely and crispy. Grenadier is spot on. We all loved it! Thank you.
