Wonthaggi state coal mine cafe

I was invited for a meeting and was surprised at the quality of the food and coffee. The food felt home made with good ingredients. Cakes and biscuits were lovely, the perfect regional stop off

Wonderful location, so much to see and best of all it's free. The cafe is excellent.

Really nice meals I had schnitzel chips and gravy wife had a Parma
Mum had fish and chips and a baked potato and my daughter had carbonara perfect size meals for woman my wife was very happy little small for me needed a man size extra chips option and some more gravy but was very nice regardless will be coming back again

Unfortunately due to bureaucratic mismanagement by Parks Victoria, this once thriving cafe has been dormant for more than 12 months, despite numerous applications to start up the cafe. This was a loved cafe of the locals and tourists alike. Its a shame when bureaucrats run a business into the ground

We had a 100th Birthday lunch today for my lovely mother in law.
We booked for a party of 20, and the staff went out of their way to ensure our celebration went without a hitch. We were blown away with the effort they had made in decorating the space and they even provided a beautiful cake.
All our guests commented on the quality of the food, and the friendliness and professionalism of the staff.

Called in for lunch and was very pleasantly surprised.
Had their fish and chips/salad, it was super fresh and just the right amount on the plate.
The coffee was great and service was fantastic too.
Lovely outdoor dining option and being mid winter with the sun out was an enjoyable meal.
Highly recommend coming here A+++

A great selection for lunch, not too long await. Friendly, efficient staff, who volunteer their time to this historic part of Victoria. Margaret is a gem of knowledge on all flora. Very clean, accommodating Cafe.

Great service, great food, low prices and on beautiful grounds. A must see, utilise the bbq area, that has power, has a sink for washing up and can actually be hired out to use the kitchen and wood pizza oven for that special occasion. Their is a fairy garden for all to enjoy and the ladies who run the cafe are friendly and helpful.

Had the soup of the day on a cold and miserable morning. Service was excellent and the soup and following coffees were first class and very reasonably priced. The cafe is a wonderful facility in an outstanding locatlocation- the State Mine.

Awsome place for a late breakfast early lunch food is very nice especially eggs Benedict/Royale yum 😋 and the iced coffee or chocolate yup thumbs up 👍

Wonderful slice of history, relaxed, open space, easy parking.
Only down side is due to state Govt funding they can no longer run the underground tour.
They need support.
