Stanley Gates Park

The Stanley Gates Park is a great small park in the quaint town of Moore, Queensland. It has a toilet block for both men and women. Clean and well stocked with toilet paper and soap. There are several seating areas both covered and uncovered. Bins are located next to the toilet block and playground area. The covered playground has slides, swing, and climbing fort on wood chips. There is a water tap next to the playground equipment. Right next to the playground is a large green area filled with an umbrella of trees that teaches to an overnight free camp for 20 hr stay. The to wn of Moore offers 2 free electricity to campers in the area. Across the park are 3 cafes that offers food and drinks. Moore is well known for its Brisbane Valley trail that bicyclists do. There are bike racks that the cafe offers for bikers to park their bikes. A free water refill if you dine in one of the cafes and conveniently a bike repair shop right next to the cafe. Thank you Moore for your generosity and kindness and giving us a top.notch place to stay. Please, support the business during your stay as Moore is a gem and no other place you would find a camp that offers free electricity to plug in overnight! Generators allowed if can't plug in.

The park itself is quite nice and there are a lot of bathrooms and undercover seating area. It's across the road from some shops and so is an easy stop for anyone on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.

If you're cycling on the BVRT, take care on your way off the trail and into town. The way to get into town, if you don't want to go on the road, can be difficult. Especially if you're bikepacking and carrying weight. Signs will take you down what looks like a creek crossing and onto a narrow bridge. I'm a nervous rider on the road, and with a load on my mountain bike, preferred to avoid it. But the bridge was quite narrow, and my bike couldn't fit through properly, causing my handlebars to scrape the sides which in turn caused me to crash into the side and I ended up with a bruise, a burn and a jumped chain. Be careful when following the toilet signs!
