Bottlemart Malanda Hotel

Apparently from what I've been told, the Malanda Hotel is the largest completely timber built hotel in the Southern Hemisphere. I certainly wouldn't doubt that. This is an absolutely huge pub. Fair dinkum, the main barroom is that huge, you could have a game of cricket in there and not knock over anyone's beer. That's how big it is. Apart from that it's a well built building. It is over 100 years old. As you would expect, there's plenty of local people that are able to tell you more history of not only the pub, but the township itself. There's plenty of accomodation available. Good quality at a cheap price. In the bar on Friday/Saturday nights there's usually a band to keep you entertained. As well as friendly locals. Easy going, relaxing environment. Nothing to worry about. The feed from the dining room is top quality. Fair price and adequate quantity. Obviously there's heaps of cold XXXX served at the bar. Believe me, you won't go thirsty. In short, go to the Malanda Hotel, have a beer or two and a feed as well, kick back and enjoy yourself. Excellent pub. 11 out of 10.

I live in this village so this is not an emotional review based on just a night, but after some 30+ visiting.

Well, building is well worth a look, and the price of meals is good. However very long waiting time (on average 40-50 minutes, worst record is over an hour) is not acceptable. Sometime they are bit quicker but based on my 30+ visits, I have to say they're very very slow. I see sometime people get angry.

Absolutely disgusting display of community spirit and courtesy at this place. A vehicle parked close by had left its lights on, I simply asked if they could possibly contact the main pub area since the phone number listed says it has been disconnected and not keen on walking into a pub with a young child this early in the morning. They couldn't be bothered stating the owner could be anywhere. All I asked was for a simple announcement to be made.... For their lack of effort or care factor I wont use this place ever. Girl stood there like a stunned mullet and guy was so arrogant.
